  1. Same here, some people have no idea, I hope she is found & jailed. I know guide dogs aren't supposed to react to anything outside their job, maybe the guide dog thought David was under threat & that's why it reacted the way it did. Saying that, there is a young woman with her black Lab who often get on the crowded train I use two stations before I get off, I always give her my seat because I'll soon be getting off. Funny thing is though, her dog sniffs me constantly, wagging her tail, her owner tells her to stop being cheeky, I say I don't mind, as she can obviously smell Kenny, OH & I do shower & wash my clothes.
  2. "Her right leg also has a seven-centimetre gash that may require a skin graft during surgery this evening." (a) Doesn't sound like the bite of a small dog; (b) She was holding the Foxy in her arms, from which it bit her face and fingers. How did it bite her leg? BTW, when was the last time a big dog was mauled to death by 2 small dogs? Not the dog's fault, of course. Big and little dogs have no concept of size when it comes to fighting. However, big dog owners have a greater responsibility to prevent this sort of situation from occurring as the consequences (ie the death of an animal) are so much greater. No, big dog owners dont have a greater responsibility than small dog owners to keep their dogs contained ALL dog owners should be responsible for their dogs welfare and wellbeing. What part of this incident dont you understand Mum to Emma-the small dog dug under the fence into the other dogs yard, nothing to do with the size of the dogs involved at all. You are coming across in your posts as a dog racist and wont look past breeds and sizes please try to educate yourself that size is not the issue here. Exactly, it sounds to me that Mum to Emma, is one of those small dog owners who think all big dogs should be caged, while small dogs can run round & do as they please.
  3. That dog is a speed freak, first skateboard, now snowboard, what next?
  4. Great news, it is just a fatty lump, the Vet checked him out & said he is in remarkable condition for his age, though a lttle fat around the mid section.
  5. R,I.P. beautiful boy, you showed millions of viewers worldwide what a beautiful breed you are in the right hands. Really strange that today I watched "It's me or the dog" & one of the dogs was a Pitty X. A beautiful natured dog, but because the owners didn't train her, or take her for walks, was a licker, escape artist & destructive. Forgot to add, that at the question about this breed, they asked why were known as the "Nanny breed', I forget all the options, but they said the right one was because they were so tolerant with children.
  6. How sad, have fun over the "Rainbow Bridge" Daddy & keep all the dogs under control there. Let's hope Junior follows in his mentors footsteps. Condolences to Cesar & his family, I am guessing there are feeling devasted at the moment.
  7. WOW, so I could know straight away that's great, will let you all know how it goes.
  8. Thanks for the positive responses & useful information. ;) My daughter has offered to take us to the Vets tomorrow to have it tested & said she will pay for it, gawd I hate my children giving me money, after all I am the parent. I will be happier knowing that it's not a cancer, but if it turns out it is, I don't think I could take the risk of surgery & he's still happy & healthy. Can someone give me some idea on how long it takes to get the results?
  9. That's what I'm hoping, Kenny is stilll a fat guts & doesn't seem in pain, so I will just keep an eye on him & love him.
  10. Yes iit is on the sternum. That's where Lil's is. Vet told me if it does have to come out at some stage, there's plenty of skin to work with there. Kenny is nearly 12, which is old for his breed, even if I could afford it, the chanxe of him dying from the surgery is a worse risk.
  11. Thanks PF that makes me feel better. Unfortunately I can't afford Vets at the moment, because people don't want to employ people over 50. All my money goes to feeding Kenny & paying rent & bills. I understand. Hope things improve. Get it checked when you can and I hope it stays nice and small. IF you can pull it away from his chest and its moveable, that's often a good thing. Your vet may let you delay payment or pay a bill off - I've had to ask for that before. Dogs have no sense of timing when it comes to money. Yes I can, it's just like this loose lump of fat.
  12. Thanks PF that makes me feel better. Unfortunately I can't afford Vets at the moment, because people don't want to employ people over 50. All my money goes to feeding Kenny & paying rent & bills.
  13. Noticed that Kenny's chest looked larger than normal, so I felt it & he has a lump about the size of a golf ball. It doesn't cause him pain when I sqeeze it, being nearly 12 years old & the fact I can't afford a huge Vet bill, I am hoping that it is just a non malignant lump.
  14. Bingo, that's all that needs to be said, another child & dog victim due to slack humans. :p
  15. Agree, a hairdresser I went to in Perth used to take he beautiful Rotti to her salon with her, but he was kept out the back room, divided by a solid metre high gate. The only time she let him out was when there was only one client in the store who loved dogs like me. No way she would let him just have access to the salon, especially seeing as she had an area for children of clients to sit on the floor & play with toys. Good to hear the little girl hasn't been too damaged, let's hope she makes a full recovery, RIP beautiful Husky, your time is nigh, thanks to your irresponsible owner.
  16. I guess some breeds are better, but I think it is more the dogs personality & how they think of their humans. Kenny is a Neopolitan Mastiff X APBT, he is very gentle & loves all humans, BUT, if anyone tried to hurt me, he would knock them down & hold them down. He did this to my EX who he adored, but when he jumped the back fence drunk one night while I was in bed, Kenny stopped him. Kenny didn't bite him, just wouldn't let him up until I called him off, after hearing my Ex yelling, let go Kenny it's me Daddy over & over again. OH & if a guy tries to put his arm around me while Kenny is there, he jumps & pushes them away, lucky I am happy being single these days.
  17. You have Shelties right? The first time I heard of debarking, was when I was breeding Cairn Terriers & a friend of mine had Shelties, she got all her dogs debarked, said that the top Sheltie breeders recommended it, because the breed are notorious barkers. I'm not trying to be rude, but did you get professional help, before going the debarking route?
  18. I would have got a dog behavouralist in, because there is a reason dogs bark non stop, usually boredom, or seperation anxiety, I doubt a well balanced, well exercised dog, barks for no reason.
  19. :D You obviously have never had a dog that barks non stop Mantis Or lived next door to one I know there would be training to stop them if you are there, but what about when you are not there .???? To be honest I used to think that it seemed cruel, but since learning more about it and seeing dogs that would drive me insane I would prefer to have them debarked than PTS, Which some I am sure have been, brcause people couldnt stoip barking. When you walk around at shows and see dogs barking non stop and no noise, now I think OH my god what must that of been like to live with. LOL Besides it is like anything some dogs are worse than others. at anything . My girl isnt a barker but god forbid I leave anything around she shouldnt get to, its chewed up and YES she is a candidate for having her teeth all removed :D JUST joking of course NOT :D A bit of history on my boy. He suffers seperation anxiety, the reason I had to replace many doonas, couches, clothes etc. When I moved into a rental property, after two weeks I got a letter from the council, saying Kenny barked from the minute I left for work, until the minute I got home & being a big dog, he must have driven the neighbours nuts. So I went to my neighbours & said they should have told me earlier, so we could address the problem. Kenny hates water, so I bought a "super soaker" & put it on the bin in front of the side gate & told my neighbours whenever he barked, give him a spray, two days later, problem solved. There is always a way to stop a dog barking for nothing, a much better option than ripping their bark out.
  20. Let me see, training, or debarking? Sorry, but I can't for the life of me see why a dog has to have an operation to stop itdoing what comes naturally & what they are meant to do. If they bark too much, maybe spend the money it costs to de-bark on training. What's next? A dog who chews things they shouldn't, has their teeth removed.
  21. Sway what happened to mine, I went to the link & mine wasn't there, it was Butecairn & I bred Cairn Terriers?
  22. Does it matter if they are current or not? Mine hasn't been used for years, but it would still be on some dogs pedigrees, so I would think that someone else wouldn't be able to use it.
  23. Thanks, i have added you. I see you've put mine on, Cheers. Couldn't you aks the various Kennel Control Councils in each state for a list of prefixes? Not sure if they will giver them out, but I can't see why they wouldn't, if it is just the names, with no owner details.
  24. I guess this only helps people with large dogs, Kenny is 45kgs & has a chicken frame for breakfast & a Kilo of my Barf mix at night, plus he always has a bowl of dried food to graze on during the day if he gets peckish, but he doesn't usually eat much of that, I just don't like the thought of him being hungry when I'm not home.
