When I saw his breeds, that was my first thought.

If the dog had have been attacking anyone, you can guarantee the media would have been contacted because of it's breeds. It would have been another "I had to belt this vicious dog to save my life" story. The fact the bastard who bashed this dog has said nothing, shouts that it was just a vicious attack on the poor dog.

A 16 year old child, a week old baby & a strong dog who needs a responsible owner, all in the one room, who couldn't see that was a tragedy waiting to happen.

Do You Feed Your Dogs Morning, Night Or Both.

My ex's parent's Beagle got bloat, the Vet told them to stop feeding it nothing but dried food. He said that after a large meal of dried food, the dog drinks water & the food swells up in the stomach, makes sense really. -
A young child's face was bitten today by the grandfathers dog, child had to go to hospital, yet hardly any media coverage, I wonder why? OH that's right, they couldn't pretend it was an APBT.

Do You Feed Your Dogs Morning, Night Or Both.

Kenny has his bones in the morning & has barf food at night, mind you he has a bowl of meaty bites always on hand, in case he gets hungry in between. -
Here we go, as soon as a dog attack happems & they don't know the breed, they call it a pitbull,. Makes me sick.

I won't even buy dog supplies from petshops that sell animals. I walk in & if I see dogs or kittens for sale, I say in a loud voice, I'm in the wrong store, I refuse to financially support a place who encourages backyard breeders & impulse buying of pets & walk out.

PHEW!!! what a great OH!! Hey fiona, how that TALIN going :D I know ;) I haven't found anything I can't use that trick on yet. ;) I jut find it hilarious that he actually suggested it ;) I have had many years experience with the male species & know what calms them down, that's the reason I suggested the idea to the OP, I have never known this tactic to fail.

Put on your sexiest lingerie, cook him his favourite meal & have it ready when he walks through the door, the car will be the last thing on his mind.

When I was 12, a copper lived just down the road from my school & I used to walk past his house everyday, the dog would bark happily wanting someone to play with, me being an animal lover, used to go over & pat him through the fence, one day the copper came home while I was still in his yard. Him & his wife took me inside to meet Rolf, he was a beautiful boy, they gave me permission to walk Rolf when they weren't home, which I did for months. One day the copper decided he wanted Rolf to be a Police Dog, after 2 months he was thrown out, because he was too gentle & they couldn't get him to attack. Yet surprising enough, when I walked him & one of the school bullies threatened me, Rolf arked up & growled at them. I think some dogs just protect the ones they love, or smaller vulnerable people, probably instinct.

You'll stay with her if she has to stay overnight at the vet????? I think leaving your dog at a Vet, is a lot different than leaving your dog with some person who grooms dogs. Vets have to go to Uni for years, dog groomers don't, silly comparison.

Agree, I just get so angry, we all love our dogs, but our children come first, so you take extra care that the child isn't in danger from your dog/s. When my son was born, I had a year old Cairn Terrier, we used to let him in the same room as our son, because we wanted him to get used to this new addition to the family, but when ever we left the room our son was in, so did the dog & the door was shut. FFS, leaving a baby alone with two dogs is an accident waiting to happen. Now two dogs are dead & a little boys life is ruined because of his injuries, he will suffer for the rest of his life. It would be bad if he had scarring to his face or body, but losing his genitals is something that poor child will never recover from.

Unfortunately for the dog, if the RSPCA haven't received lots of donations from this story, then the poor girl has been sent to the "Rainbow Bridge", they only keep them alive if money is coming in.
-
If these moron groomers had trouble handling a small dog, what the hell would they be like with a medium or large dog. I hope they have been banned from grooming anymore dogs.
-
Is there anymore news on this poor little girl?
-
The kid said the attack lasyed for up to 1.5 hours, why didn't he, or his friend ring someone straight away for help? OH & I hope everyone who read the article got the message it was a pitbull, they only mrntioned it 7 times.

I was going to join you, but Kenny realised what I was doing & stopped me, he said he is quite happy with a quick walk to the front of our house & a sniff around, then straight back inside to snooze. ;)

Sounds like a direct rip-off, of the TV series "The Littlest Hobo", I loved that show, London was such a beautiful dog or three. ;)
-
Yeah right. Is anyone else having flashbacks to poor little Clifford? First badly treated by his owners & then by the RSPCA who killed him. OH well, they will keep her alive while the sympathy donations come in, then when the donations stop, she will suddenly turn vicious & they will kill her. Shame RSPCA shame. ;)

I agree, but if people are to stupid to put their kids in seatbelts, drink and drive, take drugs and smoke, then what chance they will listen about dogs in the short term. I would promote dog licences for owners, similar to a gun licence where you first get the licence, then your allowed a dog. But the majority of dog owners disagree. To find a solution that satisfies everyone, promotes good ownership but still protects innocent bystanders seems almost impossible. Having children myself, I hate hearing about children being hurt, unless they do something so utterly stupid that you can only think, "Serves them right". I have a pitbull cross (according to the owner) living on my street. The owner is an arrogant, young stupid male, who thinks its funny to tease his dogs during the night, has allnight drinking parties with his mates, never socialized or trained his dogs. They have attacked by current dog 5 times, each time a little worse. I have not reported him yet, but made it clear last time that if it happened again I would report him to the council. I have to protect my dog, each time she was attacked it took time and training to settle her down again and lower her aggression, I have rights too. But would I contact media, no way - nothing to do with them. That is my thought, you want to own a dog, prove you are suitable, if you don't go through the training, then bad luck, you can't own one, a win for the the dogs.

And how many times have they said the truth? Not bloody often, they always embellish & sensationalise stories, quoting "unnamed sources", if you don't think the media lies, I have a bridge you can buy in Sydney. Is it going cheap? Truthfully, the media does exagerate, and I especially hate the news headlines that often are completely different from the main story, but if the kid had done something bad I'm sure the dog's family would have complained, and that would mean 'conflict!', something they always love. Just to give you two quick stories of the media found lying, one incident happent in Ballarat a few years ago, the paper said a young school girl was attacked & seriously hurt by two APBT's, it ended up being two "supposed friendly" breeds that bit a teenage boy, causing bugger all injuries, but all the TV stations ran with it. Another was in WA, where the media claimed a man siked his two APBT's on another driver because of a road rage incident, making him out to be the bad guy & the guy who got bitten innocent. Turned out the guy that got bitten was the aggressor & the innocent guys two Amstaffs jumped out to protect him, after the thug started bashing him, by the way, those dogs were found innocent by the courts fortunately, but guess what, no retraction from the media for running with the bullshit story. There are many more & I can tell you, the media pay people to implicate Pittbulls, or Bull breeds to up their ratings. Yes, and if it was a pitbull or pitbull cross I would be suspicious as well, but they haven't claimed anything like that What appears to be truthful was a dog was being walked past some children who may have been looking the dog in the eye, or laughing or pushing each other, who knows and it really does not matter. The dog bit a child, that is what is important. As I have posted in a lot of threads like this, I got bitten on the bum by a Lab when I was 8 & had stitches, did I run to the media, did I say I wanted the dog PTS, No, because for starters the dog shouldn't have been loose, same as this dog being walked by a child, I am sick of dogs being killed because of irresponsible morons, it'a not fair on the dogs. How about the Councils, Governments & RSPCA, spend money on educating people on responsible dog ownership & punishing the moron owners, instead of taking the easy route of killing innocent dogs? But they are targetting other breeds now, all medium to giant, the beautiful dog in your avatar will also be a target in the future. I'm sorry to be so gloomy, but for over seven years anti BSL people have been trying to warn dog owners where this is heading. Living with an old boy who is constantly under threat because of BSL & the measures I've had to take to keep him safe & happy, sorry if I am very defensive, but when you love your dog you tend to do that.

Another tip, if your dog loves playing tug with tyres & also throwing them around & chewing them, don't buy the ones from pet shops they don't last. Go to Bunnings & buy a wheelbarrow tyre, that's the only thing Kenny hasn't been able to chew to pieces. They are also cheaper than the toy ones pet shops sell.
