Visitors Here. Dog Not Eating Much N Growling
mantis replied to angelnkids's topic in General Dog Discussion
When I lived n WA I had a home Vet, it cost the same as a visit to a clinic. I lived in the Balcatta area, but if you're not around that area, I am sure there will be home Vets in your area. -
Firstly, welcome to the forum, it's great to have another Bully lover here. Unfortunately, the media & RSPCA , has caused this anti Bull breed hysteria & it makes me so angry. It is the deed not the breed, but unfortunately even on a dog lovers forum, there are people who are brainwashed by the media hysteria & blame the breed, without questioning the training, or the circumstances which caused the attacks. I won't go into my dogs breed, or the reasons I love Bull breeds so much, when you get time, just have a look at some of my previous posts.

I'm so very sorry for your loss, she was a beautiful girl. Sending hugs your way . run free beautiful girl.

Staffyluv, I know your pain. I know that Ollie, Kenny & all the other beautiful dogs who have crossed the rainbow bridge, are all running free together & having a ball. Hugs to you.

Totally agree, fortunately the OP got some great advice, I just hope they take it onboard & things turn out OK.

I notice that the crate with the OH in it, had the door closed.

I do it so people don't know I am lurking.................OH wait I'm logged in, damn.

As soon as I see someone referring to dogs as "landsharks", I immediately treat their replies with utter contempt, because they are obviously drones of Hugh Wirthless & not someone who is a real dog lover.

Agree Jed, Kenny had his last vaccination at 3, my Vet said that after that they weren't needed, their natural immune system would click in. She also had a feeling that the rise in dog cancers could be attributed to the fact the natural immune systems were destroyed by the drugs. I think it's the same with humans, the constant media hype about having flu vaccines every year, or else we could end up with a pandemic, It is just the pharmaceutical companies, paying Vets, Doctors & media, to sell their products.

Well done, better to donate to a worthy charity, rather than put money into an organisation that promotes & carries out the killing of innocent dogs.

My Daughters Latest Reason Why She Shouldn't Go To School.....
mantis replied to barkon's topic in General Dog Discussion
Your daughter needs a double bed, otherwise her reason is very valid. -
ROFL Persephone. They do try our patience at times, but we still love the buggers.

So true, when I moved back to Vic from WA in 2007, I was worried sick about how Kenny would cope with the long flight, especially as he was 9. I was a basket case the whole flight, wondering what I'd find when I picked him up from the freight depot. What I was greeted with was Kenny sitting in the crate on the back of freight trolley, thoroughly enjoying the experience, bloody dog.

We talking about the bolded stories at the top of the page? Two stories of dogs attacking either each other or another dog. Two stories of dogs hanging themselves. Two stories of dogs getting out of the yard and being knocked over and killed. One story of a dog being poisoned. Those ones? I wondered the same thing TT and how it was relevant to this discussion (ie. the OP was about a dog biting a child). It's just another excuse for the Bull breed haters, to jump on the media hysteria bandwagon. You might tell that to the sites owner then? I wouldn't bother, because everyone here has a right to post. I just get annoyed at ignorant people who bag Bull breeds because of the media. My boy who is no longer with me, was one of those "vicious" breeds, yet the moment a child, or a small dog came near him, he immediately dropped on his stomach, I never trained him to do that, he sensed they were smaller so didn't want to scare them. The media & Hugh Wirthless are the reason that BSL came in.

And he has Bullmastiff in him???? Seriously? Dont know why you are surprised he has Mastiff in him. My boy in my avatar, was a Neo Mastiff X APBT. I can see Mastiff in that boy, he is beautiful.

No, I am not a Bull breed hater at all, but I do hate the type of people who refuse to recognise that gameness and predatory type aggression is bred into the dog. You can't put aggression and gameness into any dog, that's absolute nonesense to the point that many of the guardian breeds are not strong enough to be trained in defence without the genetics for the job. Many of these BYB Bull/Mastiff type breedings often passed off as Pitbulls are bred for aggression to be sold as protection type or tough dogs. I have a problem with these type of breedings and the ease at which just anyone can aquire them. As I said, you have NFI. You are brainwashed by the media. My beautiful gentle giant who has crossed the rainbow bridge, was the sweetest, gentle dog you could ever know, he was one of those horrid Bull breed mixes.
-
No not at all, I am not a supporter of the Bull breed crap that people blend together in their back yard, they are the people who suffer NFI. I would like to know the amount of Bull breeds featuring in visious attacks that were actually bred by an experienced breeder, I suggest would be minimal if at all??. I would like to respond to your post, but I can't understand your gibberish, please talk english.

Lucky the media wasn't so sensationalist then, otherwise Labs would be declared dangerous dogs.
-
Agree trinabean, I have only been bitten once by a dog that was totally unprovoked. I was 8 years old & walking with two of my friends, when a a Labrador ran out of it's yard & bit me on the bum, I have the scars to this day.
-
I'm sorry m_sass, but you have NFI. You sound like just another Bull breed hater.
-
My beautiful boy who has now crossed the rainbow bridge, was a Bandogge. They are a cross of usually a Neo Mastiff & Amstaff or APBT. I suggest you talk to your ranger, I was on very friendly terms with mine, he came & did a temperament test on Kenny & said the only danger he posed to people, was licking them to death. They are very strong willed though, so training & letting them know you are the boss is essential & lots of socialisation. Please post a pic of your baby.

I would love to see random dog breeding under control but that is pie in the sky stuff at the moment. As for the bully/mastiff breeding,as has been pointed out many times in this sort of arguement, these sort of 'people' will just move onto other breeds. And considering Victoria apparently has tough laws on these 'sort of dogs' it obviously isn't working. It is a difficult problem, the answer in my opinion is to make people responsible for the actions of their dogs, no matter what breed. I tend to be of the opinion that these sorts of people choose the Bully/Mastiff types of dog for a reason. I don't think they possess any training skills to extract aggression responses out of anything otherwise they would just own anything from a Labrador to a Great Dane and get the same aggression responses and attack results?. I think with the breed styles taken away from them to produce preditory behaviour from other breeds, they would struggle to achieve it?. I still think there is some merit in the madness of legislation, take the Bully/Mastiff's off theses people and give them a nice well bred Cocker Spaniel instead, the commumunity would be a safer place :D Staffys, pitbulls etc.. were originally bred to fight other dogs, not people. Any sign of aggression toward humans wasn't tolerated and the dog would be killed as they couldn't afford to have fighting dogs turn on them. You don't have to possess skills to turn a dog aggressive. All you have to do is either provide no leadership to a strong willed dog, treat it like crap and abuse it or reward it when it does show aggression. It's like the morons who put a video up on YouTube of their dog "guarding" their infant and growling at anyone who came near it. They thought it was awesome and rewarded the dog for doing so. It's only a matter of time before that dog ends up biting someone. Wankers are unfortunately drawn to bull breeds either because of their historical purpose, movies and media promoting them as the dogs criminals own to look tough and because they look awesome. Most bull breeds are the biggest sooks you'll ever meet when it comes to people. ETA: As bull breeds are the dog of the moment when it comes to crying out about dangerous dogs the media more often than not either don't report the breed of dog if it's not a bull breed that has attacked or they say it was a bull breed in the initial report, find out later that it wasn't and just stop mentioning the breed, so no one ever hears what breed it actually was. Well said, I am sick to death of Bull breeds always being portrayed as the only dogs who bite. Obviously BSL isn't working, so how about concentrating on responsible dog ownership, instead of the breed of dog.

Exactly. It seems cats are allowed to do whatever they want & the cat & owners are never critisized, yet poor bloody dogs get hammered for acting like animals.

My condolences on the loss of your beautiful girl. Lots of hugs sent your way. After seeing her beautiful photos, all I can say is my Kenny is sure to look after her, she looks just like the girl he would love.
