  1. Yep, I got antlers for a pic for Christmas for mine. Our families are overseas so it was was a cute festive pic to send them. The dogs loved it as they got paid in liver ; P I have a raincoat for my tibbie X (non fleecy, just rain proof), otherwise he gets soaked and takes a long time to dry. My JRT X gets very cold, especially when we go camping, so I bought her a Polartex fleece which she loves. She also have a fleecy raincoat and won't go outside without it when it's raining. Both have no problems at all wearing them, they are fitted well and the dogs were introduced to them with treats. I don't care what people think, I'll do what is best for my dogs. I had antlers on Kenny at Xmas & that was my Xmas card photo, everyone loved it. Also bought him a T Shirt saying "blame the deed, not the breed", which he wore when we went for walks.
  2. Totally agree, will add to say make sure they are wonderful dogs, who don't cause problems in the community.
  3. Oh ? So, no post whelping check of bitch & whelps is to be done at all ? I thought that was routine ..(or, it always used to be, )...especially after still births with an unknown cause , and a first litter . Agree with you, even if it was an easy whelping, a visit to a Vet is needed. Have to make sure no pups left inside, the pups are OK, no cleft palette etc. Kenny's Mum had 13 pups over 12 hours, gawd that was a long night, one was born not breathing, (my Kenny) but managed to bring him back to life & two were breach births. A first time breeder I can imagine being overwhelmed, but a Vet check after the birth is a must.
  4. I know the feeling, my boy was attacked 3 times by off lead dogs, one was a SWF. He became FA after that, when before he loved dogs of all sizes. What angers me most, the people who's dogs attacked Kenny complained to the council that I had a vicious dog out in public, even though he didn't hurt any of the dogs that attacked him, just held them down, until the owners put them on lead.
  5. That's absolute rubbish, how long did it take for the registered Amstaff issue to be rectified when the court considered the Pitbull/Amstaff as the same breed??. If they didn't whack the Amstaff on the list, other ANKC recognised breeds with no association to restricted breeds are as safe as houses..........this "your breed will be next" scare mongering to assist Pitbull supporters is the joke of the century It sickens me that you try & pass yourself off as a dog lover. p.s. Why do I get flashbacks to "Dougie", when I see your posts?
  6. Another fan here, very good prices & quick delivery.
  7. Exactly, irresponsible owner thinks it's funny, what happens if the poor dog gets hit by a car, gets in a fight with another dog, eats poisoned food, or possibly bite someone if it gets scared or threatened. People on here shouldn't be finding this story cute or funny. I watched the news report. Aside from being less than impressed by this thief which (by the owner's own admission) is guilty of 'wandering at large' on multiple occassions, I wondered if the journalistic slant or public reaction to the story would have been the same if it was a GSD, staffy, rotty etc If it was a Bull breed, GSD, Rotty etc., the media wouldn't have run the story, or if they did, they would have been saying that dangerous dog allowed to roam streets. This is the double standards that annoys the hell out of me. So called safe dogs can do what they want. The only dog I have been bitten by was a Lab who was not confined in his yard. I don't blame the dog, but the irresponsible owners.

  9. It could be anything, but if it's a boofhead dog, the bloody media will always label them as APBT or Mastiff.
  10. Won't ever be considered as an assistance dog I'm guessing.
  11. I can't help with what might be wrong, but it doesn't sound good, I would definitely head to the Vet.
  12. I am literally in stitches watching that, thankyou so much. I can't believe how quirky our dogs are & the things that scare them, keep them coming people I am loving the replies.
  13. Kenny was a Neapolitan Mastiff X APBT & the most laid back, lazyy bugger you could ever meet. He would never bite anyone as he loved humans, but if someone threatened me, he would push in & grab hold of them & wouldn't let go until I told him to leave it, as my ex boyfriend found out. So my biased opinion would be a Neapolitan.
  14. After some of the replies in the toilet thread & seeing some dogs are scared of the dark, I wondered if there are any other silly fears dogs have. Kenny had two, he was terrified of squeaky toys, he would run away & hide trembling in fear. Also, I had a little toy figurine of Kyle from South Park, that when you pushed the button it said, "You bastard, you killed Kenny", again the same reaction from my Kenny. Seeing a big dog run away terrified of little toys was hilarious, though probably not to him.
  15. Poor little guy is just scared of the dark.
  16. aIt didn't confuse Kenny, he only used the newspaper if he needed to, a lot of times he hadn't used it all day while I was at work & waited until I got home. He only used it when it was raining, or he couldn't hold on until I got home. I know a lot of posters will disagree with me, but meh, as long as you & your dog are happy, that's all that matters.
  17. Kenny hated the rain & wouldn't even walk on wet grass, there was no way I could drag a 45kg dog outside & make him go to the toilet. I put newspaper on the floor in the laundry for him to toilet on. I know, he was spoiled rotten & now I am going to cop it from other posters.
  18. If you have a sign saying beware of the dog, enter at own risk & someone enters your yard & gets bitten, then you will be sued. I was told that by my local Ranger, he said you are admitting liabilty, by knowingly having a vicious dog on the premises.
  19. Contact Pacers, this is something I'm sure they can help with.
  20. I'll probably get flamed for this, but the owner seems very irresponsible. He had a dog that got run over previously & but for luck, this little mite would have suffered the same fate. He drove 200km before he missed the dog, that's about 2 hours. I'm so glad the puppy was OK & I hope that the owner takes a lot more care from now on.
  21. Fantastic story, dogs are so amazing, which I'm sure all dog lovers know & why we love them so much.
  22. You didn't know dogs like that are in the spotlight 12 months ago when you aquired him??. I'm guessing you mean "landsharks". Neither of those breeds are on the restricted list, so therefore it shouldn't be declared dangerous if it's done nothing wrong. Rebecca you have to fight it, the council hasn't got a leg to stand on if your dog has done nothing wrong. ps: The boy in my avatar was a Bandogge, so I know how sooky & loving they are.
  23. Kenny always missed me, he would hardly eat while I was away, whether in kennels, or being looked after at home. When I came home, he would happily say hello for about 5 minutes, then wouldn't talk to me for a couple days to teach me a lesson.
  24. The idea of BSL is to eliminate the types of dogs who killed poor little Ayen so when the owners do drop the ball they don't own the type of dog that will go on a killing spree with uncontrollable aggression. There is a good reason why the types of dogs, Pitbull's, Mastiff's etc and cross breeds of these types of dogs are not used by professionals in protection and guarding, there is a reason professionals use GSD's Rottweiler's, Belgian Shepherd's because they have the stability, intelligence and trainability to be a safer option in the community........I am not against people owning dogs for a protective purpose, but they need to get a proper one bred with the stability for that type of role, not the progeny of uncontrollable landsharks from a BYB offered for sale in the Trading Post, crap dogs like this are accidents waiting to happen and ultimately the death of other animals and sadly people/kids. Here you go again referring to dogs as landsharks, NO true dog lover would use that term, you have been listening to Hugh Wirthless too much. The only dog I have been bitten by was a Labrador, all dogs bite if they have irresponsible owners, banning breeds of dogs isn't the answer. I won't apologise for this reply, I would get banned if I said how I really feel about someone referring to my beautiful gentle giant as a landshark. OK rant over.
  25. I don't speak Italian, but speak American so 50/50, Kenny being Neapolitan Mastiff X APBT.
