It's really hard to watch, I know My mum is currently looking after grandma's dog while grandma is away, and her little dog took a few days to really perk up and get back to his normal happy self. I don't think there's really much you can do beyond give him a warm and secure place to go to. Have you got any clothing, bedding or anything of his, or of his owners? Perhaps something that smells of him might help. I've got his bed but he won't lie on it, he still is hiding under my couch, he only comes out for treats & to go to the toilet.
-
But that's so hard, as he is usually such a happy bouncy little dog & this is so unlike him, I just want to cuddle him to make him feel safe & happy.

The guy in the unit next to me was just taken to hospital with a heart attack & I am looking after his dog. I have looked after him before & he has been happy as, sitting on my knee, but tonight he is stressed & is sleeping under the couch & doesn't want to cuddle as usual. I know dogs sense when something strange is going on with their owners, so I want to know how I can make him feel happier. He is a JRT X Iggy.

They were my next door neighbours growing up, I went to school with them & spent more time at their place than my own, because they had Danes that they showed, that I went too with them. I move in tomorrow, but will wait a couple of weeks before I ring him, because I don't want to hassle him, while he is still grieving.

The son said he is keeping him, but he has grandchildren & Angus has bitten two of her great grandchildren, which is why she didn't want them to take him. I just hope they are very careful when children are around.

A dear friend of mine who I have known for over 50 years, was diagnosed with terminal cancer in July & was given 6 to 9 months to live. She had a 6 year old rescue Pom X who had issues with children & people touching his head if he didn't know & trust them, so my friend was going to have him PTS after her passing, because she didn't want him going back into rescue & probably being PTS anyway. Fortunately a week later the unit next to hers became vacant, so I organised to move in there & take care of both her & her dog & adopt her dog after she passed, so he could stay in the place he knew & with all his doggy friends who live in the block of units. Sadly she passed away 5 weeks later. The day after her funeral, her son rang me to say that they wouldn't let me have the dog, because two of the tenants were annoyed & jealous that I was getting the dog, even though neither of them wanted to take him & they couldn't cope with these people harrassing them over the issue, as they had enough to deal with. I was so upset that I couldn't grant my friend her dying wish & absolutely furious with the two morons, who used to sponge off my friend & were so selfish, that they would disrespect her wishes, when she did so much for them for many years. The other tenants in the units, are also disgusted & angry by the two morons behaviour. So now I haven't got little Angus, I am hoping to get a dog from Staffy Rescue, because I need a doggy in my life.

Exactly, never have to work a day in their lives, have servants to do everything for them, the sooner we become a Republic the better.

People at restaurants can get more germs from going to the toilet, how many people don't wash their hands after going & then go & touch the door handle, which is the last thing you touch after washing your hands & opening the door. The world is becoming too germaphobic. I don't see the relevance of your answer to my post. Really? I think the last sentence of my post, applies to people like you. You don't know me so how can you comment? By your posts. Just out of interest, do you allow your dogs to lick your plates clean and eat off your cutlery? I answered that in an earlier post, yes I do, I also shared ice creams with my dogs.

HA HA HA, love that pic, but it seems to me that Woger has the look on his face, saying "I am top dog".

Comments like this amaze me. The majority of Dolers refer to their dogs as their kids &/or best mates, as long as they are well trained, I can't see how people can make such statements. Do you think the dogs know the meaning of the words?

It is the worst thing going to bed & wondering what that bad smell is, only to find a stinky old bone under your pillow, Kenny was a bugger for doing that.

What Should Happen To Dogs Brought Into The World By Byb?
mantis replied to skully's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think there is a difference between BYB's & puppy farmers. BYB's only have a few litters, but puppy farmers push out litter after litter as fast as they can & their dogs are usually kept in horrible conditions, because they are only doing it for money & don't care about the dogs welfare. -
I hope he ran into a huge tree. RIP Zena, I'm so sorry you died because of a horrible human.

How did the dog get in there?! Before the plates in anticipation?! Lol I wouldn't let mine lick the plates, for one as it has been mentioned I know what else they lick/ put in their mouths! Also they know the bowls their food goes in, I don't want them thinking our food is up for grabs. We have got them to the point where we can leave a plate of food in their reach and they won't touch it, even if we leave the room. If they were allowed leftovers off plates I don't think that would be the case anymore! I could leave food in reach of Kenny, but he wouldn't touch it unless I said OK. When I put a plate on the floor, he would sit & wait until I gave him the command OK.

OH dear, another "well trained dog" had a brain fade & a very expensive one at that.
-
Because even well trained dogs have a brain fade, or do something naughty when home alone.
-
I often put my plate on the floor (at home) for Kenny to finish any scraps, the dishes get washed I don't see the problem, mind you, I never told my visitors, because some might freak out & not want to have a meal at my place.

For Those That Haven't Gone To Training Recently
mantis replied to Cosmolo's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've never taken any of my dogs to training, always preferred doing it myself. My daughter has started taking her JRT's recently & I was amazed when she told me they don't teach them the stay command, they just get them to sit & slowly move away, they said it confuses the dogs if you tell them to sit & then stay, I have never heard of this before. -
Cool story Bro.

Oh dear a child was jumped upon and scratched by a dog!!!! Gosh, better call an ambulance and contact the media. Sheeesh, really? Is she that much of a princess that it was an issue? No... this is not on at all. a person SENDS their dog over to a child to say hello without checking first with the parents? WTF is wrong with you and that response? it is NOT acceptable for any dog to run over and jump on anyone, let alone a child. Exactly, when I read that reply I was, WTF. It's irresponsible owners like that, who cause the non dog lovers to want dogs banned in public. NO dog has a right to run at a child, or adult for that matter, unless requested by that person. Just like no person should approach a dog, unless given permission from the owner.

Ava Against Bsl - It Doesn't Reduce The Incidence Of Dog Bites

Hugh Wirthless just trying to keep his name in the news, if anyone believes his sudden change of mind, they are stupidly gullible. He is an oxygen thief..
