Be careful with chicken mince, my boys mother started having seizures & lost body strength. When we took her to the Vet, he said dogs can have a reaction to chicken mince, because of the hormones & other additives that are put into it. After we stopped feeding her chicken mince, she was fine. I have been feeding the same stuff for months and they strive on it and a friend of mine feeds the same, but I guess all dogs are different I am glad your dog is fine now though :) Loki went to the vet yesterday and the reason for his runny poops was apparently he ate a foreign object silly boy Sorry, I wasn't trying to be mean to you, just letting people know that some dogs can be allergic to some chicken mince because of the additives. LOL I didnt think that at all and I meant to say Thrive not strive haha getting a a bit tired over here :p Me too, time for bed I think. My girl will have to drag her bum off the couch & relocate to the bed.

Shenton Animal Haven in Perth is brilliant.

That's just her brekky, she gets dog biscuits & treats during the day, then her dinner, she's not starving, trust me.

I complained to Coles that chicken necks were only 10c a kg cheaper than wings, they used to throw the damn things out, same as frames, then they realised they could make a buck out of dog lovers.

I live in Kilsyth, just off MT Dandenong Road, don't know where Tasman meats are. Just googled them, none are anywhere near me. But at least I have my local butcher.

I don't have a car, so have to use public transport & that would require me catching two buses both ways to my closest Lennards, unfortunately. So I am glad I can get them at my local SC. Will ask my daughter if she is ever anywhere near a Lennards, to buy me 5kgs. The ones I used to buy from the local Halal butcher in Perth, had heaps of meat on them, in winter I used to buy extra & make chicken soup.

Yep, chicken bones are fine for any pup, just supervise closely the first few times to see how they eat it and if you need chunk it down a bit to start off with. They might take forever to eat them though (depending on the breed). Also depending on breed they might not need a whole frame just yet. True, I give my girl who is 17kgs a 1/3 of a frame, my previous 45kg dog had a whole one.

Since I moved to Vic, I have trouble buying chicken frames. Woolies & Coles no longer sell them, they said all their chicken comes already cut up. I refuse to pay $3.90 a kg for chicken necks, it's a rip off. Yesterday I went to my local butcher desperate to get them, I was so happy they sold them, only cost $1 for 3 frames. Just a heads up for anyone in the Kilsyth & surrounding areas who may be having trouble finding them. It's the butcher at Churinga SC, next door to the cake shop, don't be tempted to go in there though, you will gain weight just walking through the door.

Coroner Calls For Laws On Breeding Restricted Breeds

Because I got her from the very reputable "Staffy Rescue", or do you think they lie. Is that a "no"..? So you're saying a wonderful organisation like "Staffy Rescue" lie? OK that's it, I am no longer giving you oxygen. -

Yep. Just ignore, there's really no point. I know I shouldn't respond, but I have to refute his stupid posts, because there are visitors who are reading his crap. If these visitors read posts like his on a dog lovers forum, they might believe his crap. -

Deep. Nonsensical. But deep. The dog in my avatar is my sweet boy Kenny the "bandogge", who crossed the rainbow bridge two rears ago, aged nearly 13yo. I kept him safe, my local ranger came & temperament tested him & said he was the most stable dog he had seen in ages, he didn't register him as a restricted breed, or a dangerous dog. My adopted dog is an 8yo purebred Staffy, who I will keep safe as well, because I am a responsible owner. Any breed of dog is a danger in the wrong hands. BSL is a bad law. -
Rspca Criticised Over Claims Test To Decide Fate Of Dogs Is Misused
mantis replied to minimax's topic in In The News
What's this crap??, terrified dogs are spook dogs, fear biters, weak nerve WTF would anyone want to bother with dogs like that for, they are sadly duds that take a lot of work and time spent on spooky behaviour where the time spent on a decent dog could be so much more pleasurable with a whole lot more achieved. Dougie, I am sick of your crap. You are not a dog lover. If you knew anything about dogs, you would know that dogs who are lost & end up in the pound are usually stressed & display totally different behaviour than they would if they were in their own environment. OK, that's it, not feeding you anymore. -
Coroner Calls For Laws On Breeding Restricted Breeds

I am rather bemused as well. But for a different reason. From the UKC APBT standard Height and Weight The American Pit Bull Terrier must be both powerful and agile so actual weight and height are less important than the correct proportion of weight to height. Desirable weight for a mature male in good condition is between 35 and 60 pounds. Desirable weight for a mature female in good condition is between 30 and 50 pounds. Dogs over these weights are not to be penalized unless they are disproportionately massive or rangy. You do realise that 35-60 pounds = 15-27 kg, and 30-50 pounds is 13.6-22 kg. 40 kg in that case is definitely as the original poster said, way over the weight range, nearly double. But not the first time you have let facts get in the way of making a point The UKC standard for the APBT has no set parameters for height or weight. Neither does the Amstaff btw. The standard describes what is considered to be ideal. However, 20 - 100lb APBTs are all equal under the standard as long as they fit the physical requirements. A 90lb pit bull is not particularly unusual. The ADBA has introduced the new category of ''bullies'' for the squat behemoths that weight well over 100lbs...they are still pit bulls though. BTW, I have seen staffies that weigh over 30kgs, not pretty & that's a fact. It's not hard to get a pitbull up to & over 40kgs...& that's a fact as well. And if they are bandogs, neo x pitty....the skies the limit. Nice try though. edit to add. 100+ lb'er http://www.raisingcainkennels.com/ But they are bandogges, which my boy was, not an APBT. His mother who was a purebred APBT weighed no where near that. If there is a Staffy close to 30kg, they wouldn't be able to move, you talk total crap. -

Disagree, his arguments are the same as they were many years ago. Also, on a dog lovers forum, you expect informed opinion, not the ignorance of the ill-informed general public, who form their opinions from the rubbish, sensationalist tabloids, TT & ACA. -

Come on people, why are you still feeding this troll, stop supplying him oxygen, he thrives on putting down people who are against BSL. -
Exactly. I can't believe so many "so called dog lovers", can be so cruel. Come home soon Orange.

My Kenny used to bury his unwanted bones under my pillow. In summer I used to freeze an ice cream container with water & treats in it, he didn't like trying to get the treats out through cold ice, so decided to bury them & dig them up after the ice was gone.

I can't believe Sydney got cancelled, are doggy people there that apathetic to the plight of dogs?

Hope this terrible story has a happy ending, like the stolen Staffy did.
