  1. My Neo Mastiff X APBT was 45kg, but he was about 5kg overweight in his elderly years. There is no way a purebred APBT could weigh 50kg. There are some ignorant people posting in this thread.
  2. Did you call Ned a "monster"? No. RIP Ned and your Resolved thread if you want to remind yourself. I am certainly reminded of Ned every time you put forth an opinion on dogs. But you said amstaffs were one of your three favourite breeds and you'd worked with them in the past. Great pick up. Are we talking about monsters?
  3. It's because our dogs are "monsters" apparently & all other dogs are innocent "angels". I like how you're taking what I said out of context, I didn't say anything about breeds and monsters, I said that these two particular dogs were monsters due to what they did which is a direct result of what their breeders/owner didn't do. I love bull breeds. If it were a lab or a kelpie I would be saying the same thing. Yes & I can say I don't believe you.

  5. You don't even know there WAS HA. Many people get themselves injured intervening in dog aggression incidents by getting their bodies in their dogs teeth. No aggression may have been intended. We simply don't know. Yeah this is very true, It's quite easy to get bitten when intervening. Exactly, when an offload GSD attacked my dog,, while I was making sure that he only held the dog down & not hurt it, the GSD took a chunk out of my calf, I ended up in hospital, requiring 27 stitches. What really irked me, the idiot owner rang the council the next day, saying I shouldn't have a dog like that out in public. The ranger who knew my boy told her it was her fault & if I wanted to make a complaint, she could be fined & her dog PTS. Naturally I didn't, because I didn't want the poor dog to suffer because of the idiot owner.
  6. A set of moral boundaries is an important part of parenting. If those boundaries include teaching your child that eating animals is wrong then who are we to comment? I respect the right of parents to raise their kids as vest they see fit. Being a vegan isn't against the law My rotten parents forced me to eat tripe, liver, broccoli & brussell sprouts, even though they knew they made me feel sick.
  7. It doesn't matter what breed they are, it was a horrible attack by two badly trained dogs, with an irresponsible owner.
  8. That is media speak, maybe "dogmad" should start working in the media, if they aren't already.
  9. Totally agree with this.
  10. After my last Cairn crossed the bridge, I decided not to have another. I loved my Cairns, but I was a big dog lover & only chose Cairns because my OH at that time was scared of dogs, so getting a large breed was out of the question. I then got my Kenny a Neo Mastiff X APBT, who was my heart dog. If I was younger & in better health, I would definitely have another . I now have a beautiful little SBT, who is a little "mini me" of my boy, well apart from the fact she's a girl.
  11. This thread is why some people should never own, or breed dogs.
  12. This is a dog site, so let's stick to dogs diets. Dogs do like other foods apart from meat, so there is no reason they can't have a combination of foods in their diet. I wouldn't feed my dogs vegan, but only 30% of their diet is meat.
  13. You buy kelp powder & mix it with their food.
  14. Well that's great that you would rather have gelati than basic nutrition but not really relevant to this discussion. A dog would not choose gelati over what's hard wired into their brain to eat if they are hungry. It's not rocket science and has nothing to do with what people personally dont like. Dogs are omnivores. Their gut is designed for that. Eat what you like but dont impose it on your dog or cat, which you have said you dont so good for you. Anyone who does is a boring hipster if they're just doing it for fad rather than health reasons, and I would call them an animal abuser. It doesnt need a science project to understand why dogs and cats are not vegans! Just seems like more shit from animal 'rights' activists who, by their own philosphy, shouldnt even own pets. While they're bleating about how animals in captivity are abused by humans not only do they own pets but use pharmaceuticals tested on animals. Hypocritical much? Have to disagree on the bolded part of your post, Kenny would choose gelato or ice cream before meat, he had a sweet tooth. I'm not sure with my new girl, I haven't tested her yet as it hasn't been the weather for it. I agree with the rest of your post though.
  15. Dogs are omnivores like humans, so they can eat meat, veggies & fruit. I would never feed my dogs just fruit, veg & grains, but I wouldn't feed them just meat either. That's why I like the BARF diet, a balanced mixture of everything.
  16. But we still don't know if the dog was declared dangerous, before or after the incident. The owner said it was out of character for the dog, so I have my doubts it was before the incident.
  17. And people wonder why I like animals more than most humans.
  18. Agree, when I lived in Perth, the local ranger came & temperament tested my boy, who passed with flying colours. So luckily he didn't put a D/D or restricted dog on his registration, so I didn't have to keep him in a cage, or muzzle him. I give a big to ranger Graham.
  19. It's a pity the development permit didn't get over turned.
  20. Ironic that Steamboat is screeching about valid opinions while directing people that opinions are not on topic. If people stop responding then Steamboat can shout about it all he/she likes in the vacuum which will be the only existence on this forum for him/her. Agree. Edited to add, on a Footy forum I'm a member of, they have an "ignore" function, where you put members who's crap you don't want to read on, it's fantastic, would be good if DOL had it. DOL has ignore, go to your settings and click on manage ignored users...then just search for the user you want to ignore. I use it quite often :) Done, thank you so much, my blood pressure has lowered already.

  22. Did you actually read the article The victim, who did not want to be named, left his vehicle and approached the pair where a short conversation ensued before Max, who is classed as a dangerous dog by the council, leapt through a window of the car and attacked the man. The victim, who was last night undergoing surgery so doctors could examine the full extent of his wounds and potential damage to his Achilles tendon, denied that he had provoked the men. I'm pretty sure Megan is referring to the fact that the article says that the man who was bitten was not attacking the owner, only that they were having a conversation. The owner said he was being provoked and threatened where does it say that? In the link in the original article, gives a lot more detail.
