My very first westie male at 5 1/2 months went Baby in Show with one the second did not come down until nearly 7 months and we considered re-homing him glad we didn't as he went on to be a multiple Best in Show winner and the Sire of many top winning dogs. We were advised by a dog ciro to gently massage the testicle into place several times a day and it worked. Good Luck with your boy.

Have had many dogs over the years but our last girl from New Zealand "Roxy" took along time to respond to her name. She would come to No Name in a flash but Roxy she is now nearly 4 knows her name well but you can call no name and she is there at your feet yes have to agree with this, the dog won't know its name until you teach the dog its name. all our young puppies, i train them with a treat, i call them and give them a treat, then i might call them and alternate and just give them a pat and praise them because you don't want them only coming when they know you only have a treat. my rescue dog his former name was Patrick (just decided rescue was going to call him that) i didn't really like this name for a dog, so i called him Jake, but when i went to pick him up the girl said don't let him off lead because he won't come to his name, she called him patrick one day in the park let him off and it took 2 hours to find him again as he disappeared. Jake didn't know what his name was because no one had ever taught him recall. So i trained him on the above methods and then i could let him off after about a week in the park because i knew he'd come back straight away with his name being called. i just thought what the rescue girl told me was very silly, she didn't train the dog to come to patrick so how do you expect the dog to know what his name is???????

I work for a salon but I get a few people through the westie club want me to groom them at thier place which I do but get them to wash the dog the night before so they are ready for me to clip. At home I have a booster bath for my own dogs and it is great. -
Agree one of our dogs has been on Z/D for 3 years when it became unavailable put onto Black Hawk which we feed the other dogs and she has had no problems.

Living in Queensland I have always used Advantix with no problems have 10 week old pups now and mum was on advantix before, through and since having the pups. The safety data says it is safe to use. Would rather us nothing but paralysis ticks have been so bad during the summer and are still around.

Front loader for us, front loader for the dogs the dog one gets used most. We had a boarding kennels in the Yarra Valley for 10 years and got through 3 big top loaders mind you they worked hard especially at Christmas.

All my gang are now on Black Hawk into the second bag of it and all has gone well. Even my food allergy girl who has been on Hills Z/D for 3 years has been weaned onto it as could not get Hills and so far so good.

I helped a friend recently at her grooming shop who had an imported one from USA using it with an adaptor found it got very hot in the hand and had to change blades more often due to heating up quickly. Have also used an Australian pair and found them slow and the switch is not in a good place. Haha lol yep I know USA is not europe but they sell the European plug version in usa. At over half the price than it does here I'm very tempted The plug actually is not a bit issue, we purchase things in HK, we just use a universal plug adapter, just make sure the voltage is right, and 10v deviation is allowed, just check your plug in your house, most will show 250v, 50Hz, and we have 240v, 50Hz in Australia.

We have purpose built kennels but very rarely use them, when we are out they are in the the laundry which is very large, soft beds, wall fan and their own aircon they think life is good.

During the time we had kennels in the Yarra Valley we were prepared to evacutate once due to fires, we had already organised people we knew in the dog world to be on call with dog floats and crates and had accomodation organised this plan was in place prior to any problems occuring so we were always ready to go if need be.

Yeah but Hemi is a special boy I had my last boy doing everything I asked of him (sit, drop, stay, come) and was just about to start classes so I could look into competing, and he passed away My current boy is almost 10 months, I have put limited training into him, and he sits, drops, has a bit of a recall and shakes... So yes, I think it can be done... In the states I think htey are very competitive, I heard a Westie was top obedience dog a few years back
