  1. it could be a viral infection that has attacked the joints. It is kinda like having arthritis but it goes away after a little while. Its a good idea to keep the joints warm and trying to massage them. This might relieve some of the soreness. Poor little bub hopefully you'll get some answers soon
  2. its allergy season for dogs (and humans alike). Chances are your pup is allergic to grass/pollen. Is it a big red sorta rash on the stomach and such??? i probably wouldnt use phenergan because its an older style antihistamine and can have some side effects...like sleepiness...i'd try like a telfast or clarytine. if the rash is really bad then definately try the antihistamines. As for the immune system antihistamine doesnt really affect it. It just helps reduce the allergic reaction. Chances are if your dog does suffer from hayfever they'll have it for a very long time. Its one of those stupid allergies that doesnt really go away but it will get a better over time. Tazzy our lab X ( i got a feeling the X bit is a staffy) had the same problem few years back. The rash was pretty bad and we did give him some meds for it. He had no reactions to it. He's nearly 9 years old now and every year in spring he does get the rash and itching back but its not as bad these days. I'd use a natural shampoo or one that doesnt dry out your pups skin too much because dry skin makes the allergic reaction even worse.
  3. rice also helps expand the stomach which is useful if the dog hasnt been eating much lately. to be honest though those pics dont seem that bad. It's probably just a phase.
  4. seeing bones on the back near the tail etc is never a good sign. I agree that you should try to spice up the Euka with a bit of other stuff. Do you feed her twice daily? If you are maybe you should consider 3 smaller meals a day. Also feed her more at night. That way she goes to sleep without using up all the energy. Our boy Humphrey has the same problem with being underweight for no reason. We started feeding him later at night, this way he eats, settles down and goes to sleep. In 3 weeks he's put on a kilo which is a pretty good progress.
  5. When Humphrey was around 8 months old he was beginning to hump things and the like. We took him for a visit to my boyfriends uncles place. He has a 10 year old rottie girl named Jessie. They played for a little etc. The next time we looked out Jessie was humping Humphrey!!! SHE WAS TEACHING HIM HOW TO DO IT RIGHT. we all got a huge laugh out of it.
  6. dogs will usually eat grass or leaves etc in order to help settle their stomach down. Chances are she ate something she been hiding that was a bit off.
  7. sounds like the breeder we got our baby boy from.recently my poor boy has lost alot of weight, due to the fact we had gone overseas for 5 weeks and he missed us so much he wouldnt eat. As soon as we came back i got him back onto his favourite foods. Definate BARF diet. I find that boxers are like kids, if they dont know that its healthy and cant tell what it is they will eat it. Thats why I tend to use a food processor to chop all my veggies (skin and all) into tiny little pieces then mix them in with either rice or pasta add bit of barley or oat bran and some left over soup or chicken stock or something to add a little meat flavour to the mix. This can be done in large quantities and frozen in small packs. Just add fresh meat to it before serving and they gobble it all up I use any mix of *sweet potato *swedes, *carrots, *broccolli, *cauliflower *a clove or 2 of garlic...make sure its not too much cause its part of the onion family and can make them sick in large quantities *boiled pumpkin *celery *zucchini *parsely my boy also loves his apples...he starts drooling as soon as he smells someone eating a nice fresh granny smith! so try experimenting with some fruits too I also heard that Kelp powder is good as well too add to the mix. As meat we use kangaroo, raw chicken roll, chicken necks, chicken giblets, liver, chicken hearts, occasionally goat meat, lamb off cuts etc. If you want a nice shiny coat for your boxer dont forget the sardines in oil, they love that stuff 2 cans a week will do a great job.
  8. i'd love to come to that...even though i'm a newbie...Might just wait til my boy Humphrey is trained up a bit more. I'm sure you guys know what a hassle boxers can be when they're excited, especially when they want to go out and play. At the moment he's 18 month old, 30 kgs heavy and extremely keen to play.
  9. just like with humans dogs do become allergic to pollens and grass...now that hayfever season has come you will definately know if your dog has allergies or not. theres medications that your vet can give the dog if its a severe rash etc. its basically human medication. i remember a few years ago my Tazzy had the problem the vet just prescribed antihistamine that i use for my allergies, but he adjusted the dose so match the dogs weight. Apart from that things i know that work are increasin calcium intake also use shampoo for sensitive skin on your pooch and make sure his skin is moisturised.
