  1. She's trained and walked every day with extra clicker training in the evening. She has company in the run with her mother. I do like the idea of straw in the kennel, will give that a go
  2. She's only in the run when I am at work, the rest of the time she's in the house. Under supervision I can control the destruction. In the run she has hammock beds and blankets in the kennel. I loosely call them blankets, really just scraps of material now.
  3. I have a 7 month Lab who is destroying every dog bed I have. Can anyone recommend any type of dog bed for the dog run that could withstand a very determined destructo
  4. Can anyone recommend a dog trainer on or near the Mornington Peninsula. My dog is nearly 3 and works to the beat of her own drum. I need someone who is good at understanding dogs with their own agenda and how to work with that rather than against it, which is what I've been doing.
  5. I want to start a young dog in agility. Is there anyone on the Mornington Peninsula that does one on one training?
  6. I want to donate some money to Lort Smith but want to make sure they are a good rehoming facility. Does anyone have any experience wit them?
  7. Has anyone used Peninsula Pets on the Mornington Peninsula before for looking after their pets while they are away. They come to your house to feed and walk your pets so I want to make sure they are reliable and trustworthy before I commit to them.
  8. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a pet minding service around Frankston in Victoria. I will be away for the weekend and need someone to feed 2 dogs twice a day plus put eye drops in the eye of one of my dogs. It would be great if they could be walked as well but isn't a priority.
  9. Your bitch was also pregnant Pockets? No problems? I rang a second vet for their opinion and they said it was fine so I have started bathing with the solution.
  10. My bitch is 5 weeks pregnant and has a yeast infection in her ears. My vet did not want to prescribe corticosteroids so has suggested rinsing her ears with a mild solution of Malaseb shampoo. Has anyone used this shampoo on a pregnant bitch before?

  12. Is there anywhere in the southern suburbs of Melbourne that I can get training for rally-o?
  13. Thanks very much, this is very helpful.
  14. As my heading suggests, I need to buy a whelping box, Labrador size. Google hasn't been too helpful. Is there anywhere in Melbourne that I can buy one?
  15. Thanks, I have contacted one of these sellers and will wait for a reply.
  16. I already have a dog enclosure that is roofed with a concrete floor but want to purchase another run that I can attach to this run to give my dog some grassed area. I need the enclosure to be tall and sturdy and panels to be able to be come apart so I can attach them to the existing enclosure. I have looked on-line and checked e-bay but haven't found anything that really suits my purpose (unless I want to spend $1,000). Does anyone know of anyone who builds this type of enclosure. I am in Melbourne so someone local would be ideal but I'm happy to look further afield if need be as I know this is a big ask.
  17. I found acupuncture gave my dog some relief in the early days but now that he's 15 y.o. anti-inflams are the only thing that help.
  18. My Lab bitch has nearly 9 week old pups and she looks like a patchwork quilt with almost bald patches all over her. I've started her on Megaderm to try to promote healthy hair growth. Here's hoping...
  19. My nearly 15 y.o. Lab had tieback surgery for Laryngeal Paralysis nearly 3 weeks ago, 2 days later he was looking poorly so I took him back to the clinic that performed the surgery, although didn't see the surgeon. The vet thought he was just stressed from the surgery so gave him an anti-inflam injection and a mild sedative. Once the sedative wore off he got worse so ended up at the emergency clinic who also thought his symptoms related to his surgery. After 2 nights and 1 day at the emergency clinic they still had no understanding of what was wrong with him and he was still not a happy camper. They released him to me on the Monday morning to take him back to my vet where I got to see the surgeon. The surgeon checked the notes from the emergency clinic and noted that in the wee hours of Sunday morning they had put a tube down his throat to release the gas in his stomach. My vet concluded that he had bloated and that this was the cause of all his problems, not the surgery at all. Although it was possibly the stress of the surgery that started the process. Having just watched that video of the Akita bloating it is exactly what my old boy was doing. I have never had any experience with bloat before but I cannot believe that either the vet I saw at my clinic and the vets at the emergency clinic did not make the connection. They all just focused on the fact that he had had surgery 2 days earlier and didn't look any further. At least they had the sense to release the gas from his stomach which is probably what saved his life.
  20. I've got a blind dog so needed a very sturdy and wide ramp. I got one from the US - www.cabelas.com - and am very happy with it. It is the Pet Step II. I found it cheaper to buy from the US, even including the freight cost, than getting a similar one here. Now that the dollar is at parity it would be even better.
  21. I've been trying to send an email to Troy on the Help Desk for a few days now but it keeps bouncing back to me. Does anyone know if there is a problem with the Help Desk email?
  22. That makes sense Dancinbcs. This girl has never been one to dig up her bedding so it seemed odd. I have cut up an offcut of the vet bed into smaller rectangles so that the pups will still have somewhere warm to lie but the pieces are too small for them to get caught up in. I can give them the full size vet bed when I'm home to supervise but for the moment I'm seeing how they go with the smaller pieces and so far it seems to be OK. I also took the advice about the calcium as my vet had also said something about needing calcium. If it doesn't settle down quickly I will try the buscopan.
  23. Thanks Mini Girl. There's quite a few suggestions there, not sure which to try first! :D
