as my dog who doesn't usually go for treats unless she's hungry will attest to shoey has great treats! we found gemma aproved when she was sprung at training with her nose in shoe's bag wolfing down whatever was in there. whatever else she hasn't learnt from training, at least she learnt how to steal! (gemma, not shoey!)

Thank God they changed their ways. I went there a few years ago to have a look, i didnt want to use a check chain and they pretty much said if Nova didnt wear one there is no point in training him there (the training was very check chain intensive and he was only a puppy!).......so i left and went to Frankston LOL this is the main reason i didn't go back to ADT-Gemma is used to a check chain but i was hoping not to need one with Molly.

Barking Problem With A Difference
wombatoutofhell replied to gsdog2's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
cats have the same laws as dogs regarding wandering-i bet this cats not registered too! -
Pity I didn't see this before I went down! Not that I know what blue merle looks like-my dog knowledge is fairly limited-but i'm learning. Gemma was a little overwhelmed and did a fair amount of growling-she either likes a dog or person or she doesn't-and she makes it obvious with a few low growls. she doesn't attack or bite-just growls. i think this will get better with more socialisation-she hasn't had alot to do with other dogs for a few years. anyway, we did our first class, i signed on the dotted line and handed over some cash and we'll be back next week.

Nice to see theres a few of you that go there-hopefully we'll meet at some stage. of course i'll have no idea who i'm looking for-but we'll work that out over time i'm guessing. Molly is 13 1/2 weeks old and has had her second C5 vaccinations. She has her 3rd lot at 16 weeks. so I guess she'll have to wait until then. oh-thanks for posting that link H20-i haven't been able to find it. Site looks good WMR!

I'm planning on taking the mutt to KCC park on sunday to train with westernport obedience-was womdering if any other dolers (apart from shoemonster) go there and what I should expect? My girl is 5 and has done basic obedience with ADT a few years ago-hopefully she'll pick it up ok. I also have my staffy puppy to train-does anyone know when she can start? She's 13 1/2 weeks old and had her second shots 2 weeks ago

Last night our cat chevy started walking funny-his front feet went straight but his back ones sort of walked sideways. took him to the vet and found he had either a massive kidney failure or a stroke. Not much hope for him as he was pretty old (nearly19 years) so we had him PTS. pretty hard to imagine life without him-he was older than any of the kids. needless to say they are pretty upset. RIP Chevy

What Is An Unpleasant Taste For Pups But Ok For Kids
wombatoutofhell replied to frenzied1's topic in Puppy Chat
We used to have a cairn/lab/staff X that had a thing for shoe laces as a puppy. so we rubbed some tobasco sauce on the laces-he didn't like that and soon stopped! Same would go for any hot spices i'd imagine-but I doubt your kid would be impressed. So maybe not a good solution for this problem! -
Thanks Akita-as it happened we were pleasently surprised. we expected Gemma to be totally indifferent to Molly unless Molly was getting attention. Gemma likes company but is very choosy about who's company she'll keep-this is true of dogs and humans. Well-they hit it off right away. Yes Gemma didn't like sharing a lap at the start and growled threateningly a few times-but then they started playing and all was good from there. In fact Molly fell asleep and while she was sleeping about every 3 minutes Gemma would come over and give her a nudge to see if she was ready for more playing. Molly has also established a relationship with one of the cats-she follows him around and he ignores her. Same relationship most people have with a cat! Of course the cat in question is old (19 years)and senile-he may not know she's there! Yes I know to keep the camera handy-I also know I have to get a new camera. The lens assembly is loose on mine and you have to hold it in just the right place with your finger when you snap the shot or it's all blurred. I've allready deleted a heap of what would have been great pics because of this!

thanks shoey-I actually rang them last night and got all the details. they dont do puppy because most puppies are not fully vaccinated. Molly's not due for he 3rd vaccinations untill she's 16 weeks old so I'll bring her down them. I might come down with Gemma before then tho

Have never even thought of crating the dogs. Gemma is trained to stay in her basket unless called if she's inside. Most of the time she'll go back to it as well. I'm thinking of putting a divider around the dog corner so they can stay in overnight-I doubt I could trust her otherwise. The couple of times we've forgotten to put her out she's been fine, although the kitty litter seems to miraculously clean itself. Tell me shoey-does westernport have a puppy class? And what are their fees? They dont seem to have a website so info is hard to come by!

Hi all-I am getting a puppy on Saturday, a stafford. Currently I have a dog, we think she's something like a staffy X JRT but not really sure as she was a rescue dog from VAAT and they had no idea what she was. Gemma is about 5 years old. How do I introduce a new puppy to the household without Gemma getting jealous? I want these 2 to be good freinds so want them to start right. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated
