The Strangest Cross Breed You Have Ever Seen?

I met a Dobe X RR a couple of years ago....Beautiful dog, Dobe colouring, RR build with a ridge. She had the most beautiful temperament When I was a kid, my Grandies had a "stafford" called Beauty........God only knows what she was, but I doubt there was much stafford in there. She had the stafford build and thats where it ended! Coarse black longish hair, a pointy little nose and ears and teeth all over the place...Poor ugly little thing, wonderful little character though - and adored playing with us kids I loved that my Grandad named her Beauty ;) -
Hey Dobesrock - have been thinking of you and your family Thanks for your update.....Im glad you have other dogs and cats in your family that can be there for you, as you will be missing Odie & Jazz Take it easy, ok!!

That has got to be the most pathetic look Ive ever seen Ari .....................Poor girl, if only she knew what she was in for!!! We have had some very lovely rain down here!! Has been raining on and off overnight and all day, even got a bit of T&L (much to BRDs disgust )

That is one fit looking dog Makes me wonder though, if its been harassing the town for a while - why the hell hasnt it been caught be the ranger???? And if it cant be caught the usual way, trap it!!! Poor wallabies!! Poor dog too

Not if you use mesh panels, they are cheaper than pool fencing and very sturdy, I have 6' star pickets a foot into the ground and they aren't going anywhere. We had a mini cyclone go through in summer that flattened sheds and my fence didn't budge. Hmmmm, you have me interested now WnH!!! What sort of mesh panels are they???? Where are they available from? Would they be suitable for making pens for pet sheep or soft animals that dont push?? Im looking for ideas to create some pens for sheep and llamas for possible containment when sick etc.....

Yeah I know and thanks I'm having second thoughts about renting the place on 5 acres. I would really prefer to just move somewhere with a backyard. It's too much to take on making a fully secure yard. Good idea Bedazzled!!! Bunnings and Stratco usually have it quite cheap, about $90 for a panel which is almost 2m long!!! And it supports itself - no sagging like mesh.

This, because I am too lazy this morning to type!! Plus Mirawee thanksfor posting that vid up - She was certainly a character but her dogs were pretty amazing. Not much news here, except that we've worked out that James has Cold Tail/Dead tail - which apparently is quite common in gundogs, and particularly labs, English Setters and pointers - who would have thought right?!anyway, apparently it'll get betteri n a couple of weeks, and I have some pain meds that will help in the meantime. Poor James is being more sooky than usual and wants constant cuddles and won't leave my side... poor baby. Poor James!!! How does it affect them???? Other than the obvious that is .....is it painful for them??? ST - I usually quote people so I can remember everyones news!!! Too many people have exciting things to tell & I cant remember half of it Will you be at any shows next Saturday????? Joelle - cant be of any help as Ive never added an adult dog to our family, always the other way round - pup to adult. Which has its dramas anyway Hope some others have some advice or stories for you!

Possibly EI, bonus if you get the lid too!!! Im guessing you would be putting their kennels in there too?? I suppose it depends how active they are and just how well they get on!
-
Great to hear you have found somewhere to stay Sounds like youll have enough of your own space to enjoy too! We are on 5 acres, with no house yard as yet (although that is in planning stages) but we have two paddocks and a dog run.....Our dog run is about 3m X 6m with a covered in end where their kennels sit. This isnt closed in, but covered on both sides, the end and roof.....It opens out into our smallest paddock so they have a bigger run also I reckon youd get away with one of the larger prefabricated dog runs that are available, and add kennels and maybe shadecloth as well..... You should be able to find enclosures at BP&G, Im sure Ive seen them there...Probably other places too like City Farmers.. Goodluck!

Poor you and your dog!! Does the vet (where she currently is) have the ability and instruments to check if she has a ulcer (or some other stomach trouble).......I hope she is ok to whelp!! You must be feeling quite upset........big hugs for you Auto

Had a huge storm in the South-West overnight - 42mm of rain and discovered the leak in the roof around the flue of the slow combustion heater is worse then we thought Unfortunately since the hail storm last year our girl hates the sound of heavy rain so we had a trembling Lakeland shaking the bed until the storm blew over. Nice amount of rain drumbeat - shame about the leaky roof though Poor Lakeland girl!!! I have finally convinced our ridgeback that she doesnt need to be IN our bed during a thunderstorm....so she camps right next to the bed instead!!

Lots of good stuff happening :D M2009 - Congrats on Masons good work!!! Excellent :D Ptolomy, so glad you kid is eating again!!! Hope he continues to improve WX - How proud must you be!!!! I have to agree with Ptolomy, you dont look old enough to be his Mum ...... (Or to be a Grandy either!!) No earth shattering news here.....apart from the rain, 7mm so far!

When I had a metal crate set up inside (for our RR when she was younger) it came in quite handy as a clothes drier, as it was set up near our fire inside...... :)
