  1. Both our dogs (RR & Kelpie) have the yearly Proheart jab and neither has had a reaction. Our Kelpie just got hers Friday, and it cost $77, cant remember how much the RR's is, but no doubt slightly more....
  2. I also use this Probiotic for our Ridgy with great success!! Our girl has issues with beef, roo, and chicken so is on a diet of lamb based kibble and lamb mince. She refuses bones - strange dog , and Im yet to find something longlasting and useful for her to chew on for her teeth... She also has anxiety issues which can play havoc with her digestive system!!!! When she does have any dramas I will give her PAW for a couple of days which really helps her...She also has natural yogurt with her brekky, and I try to give them oily fish weekly. I also have pumpkin in the freezer for when she gets the runs!
  3. Hey Maltese11 - My ridgy girl has always had an anal gland prob.....but only one!!! When she was spayed, the vet cleaned it out completely and filled it with antibiotics hoping it may clear it up, but it didnt work So instead I take her in to the vet every 3 months or so to have it emptied and checked....Strange that its only one side she has trouble with, but we live with it! Ours get a varied diet, but I dont think theres anything that makes it better or worse!
  4. What a shame you changed your criteria ;) I was going to suggest a Rhodesian Ridgeback.....Their only drawback is the SHEDDING, other than that they make a great family dog :D I hope you find the dog you want
  5. Poor little mite Hope hes on the road to recovery Teebs!!!
  6. Happy Birthday CC - Hope you had a great day Congrats ST and Ari Very clever of you both!!! Wandys toe seems a little better tonight....Shes not lame on it like she was the other day!!! Must be being confined for two days! That and the rymadil :D She will get her 6 monthly Cartrophen jab on Friday along with a little foot exam....Lucky little red kid! Two days back at work and Im knackered ....Think it must be the combination of 4.30am wake up call and a 12 hour work day.....Ive been sleeping really well though on the plus side
  7. Well the first day back at work after 8 weeks of leisure was a little easier than I expected, although by lunchtime I was ready for a nana nap Was glad to be heading home thats for sure! Got some rymadil for poor Wandy today after talking to the vet, taking her to have it looked at Friday....Much to my surprise and relief the little toe isnt swollen anymore..Probably as she was penned all day today! the vet suggested to bandage it for support  Yeh, right!!! How the hell do you wrap a kelpies foot!!! Its the outside toe thats bung, and her foot is so petite.....She is on complete rest, ON LEAD outside - think that will suffice!! Ness - Ouch, whatever that is that Kenzi has sounds painful!! RV - How exciting!!! A Brittany, sooooo cute!!!
  8. Sounds like Sizzlers wouldve cleaned up today  Took my Mum out for lunch and I had the best steak sandwich ever!!!! Hope everyone elses Mums Day was a good one! Back to work tomorrow after 8 weeks off..............Feeling just a little anxious! I hope I get to sleep Poor Wandy has injured/broken another toe! Poor kid....So its on lead for her for the next few weeks and some "tablets" from the vet tomorrow! Just have to figure out whether its the same one as last time
  9. Our two are fed kibble & mince (plus a few other additives) and generally have two a day....The kelpie sometimes more, the ridgy sometimes only one........
  10. I used to do the same thing Rosie  which is why i used to steal others quotes and add to them......No excuse now though eh!! My sister had her birthday on the 5th too Im taking my mum out for lunch tomorrow and even though I dont have kids, I fully appreciate how bloody hard it must be to be a Mum!!!!!
  11. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, nuh dont remember it at all Dont pick me for any witness jobs ;)
  12. So was that on the old forum too???? If so, I never noticed it It sure will be getting a work out now!!! Thanks Bedazzled
  13. Wow - I feel like Im a completely new forum Whats this about clicking on something to go to the last post you read?????? I need step by step instructions please....Didnt even know it existed on the last version
  14. Oh yeh RV.......what beans have you got to spill??????? Yay for Zeus & Scoota!!! May you both keep improving ;) Hope you get some useful news about Diva on Tuesday Mirawee
  15. You could always try and get hold of a timber packing crate They are well constructed with decent timber - you just need to remove one end or a part of it for an opening! I used to have one for our back verandah, and the dogs loved it
  16. Sounds extremely dodgy to me!!! I know I would be down there first thing - spitting chips!!!! Surely this wouldnt be legal
  17. Hugs Emery - he may just be having a bad day tho ... And even more hugs from me emery.....never an easy decision. Take care ok!!!
  18. :dancingelephant: How old is young Zac now Bedazzled???? I hope he settles down a bit sooner than my mad ridgy Shes coming up 5 years old next month and still behaves like a 6 month old!! It will be very interesting to see how she is when she is an old lady Good luck with your search for a pup Mas, having broken both my dogs, Im a bit reluctant to get a third :cheer:
  19. With him in front getting the plastic out of the way it isn't too bad - but could you imagine if the horse tried to go through by itself Having seen enough dogs get caught up in collapsible tunnels and knowing how dumb horses are that is just a recipe for disaster! But looking at the Aust Horse Agility Club website it definitely isn't a piece of equipment they would use ;) Of all the horses Ive had over the years, I think there would be one that I couldve trained to go through a tunnel with plastic at the end.......The rest wouldve done the usual snort, tail over the back and hightailed it  Im thinking the dogs would be FAR easier to train for that one ;)
  20. there are miniature cows??/ the dude aroudn the corner sells llamas or alpacas and i am in love but not sure how they'd go with dogs Yep Dexters are the original "miniature" cattle from Ireland. You can also get Square Meaters, and even mini Herefords Llamas & alpacas dont generally like dogs, but mine WILL tolerate dogs!!! I guess if you bring them up together they will get used to each other, but as they are guards, I cant say I blame them
  21. A miniature cow would be cool!!! Im just hanging out for my llamas
  22. Ahh thanks for the info Do you have pet sheep emery, or are you thinking of getting some??? (cant remember where you guys live )
  23. Hmmmm, they probably dont live as long as they could!!! Having said that - our last two lived to 15 & 16 which is pretty good considering they usually get eaten when quite young!!! I would say they would also have breeding and lambing probs if too fat! Our little ewe seems to come into season quite regularly, much to the wethers delight The reason pet sheep usually get so fat is that they are in small paddocks so dont have to walk far to feed and they get hand fed too much!!! And they are a bit like chooks - will eat til they burst!!! Silly things
  24. Now see to me that just looks like soooooooooooo much fun!!!! Not dangerous at all!! That guy wouldve been doing so much work with that horse, possibly years to get to that stage! If you and your horse are a team, and your horse trusts you - I think its the ultimate show of trust to have your horse follow you willingly through a dodgy tunnel, and then a huge pile of plastic and not even bat an eyelid, even seems to be enjoying himself Beautiful to see!!! He also had a little video clip on the agility website about how to train your horse to jump through a hoop ;) Mas - I hope all goes well with your poor toe today try and think how much better it will feel!!! Im off to take my sheepies to have haircut today They will look so different without wool, poor things!!! And I know the shearer will tell me off for them being so fat But its so hard to keep two pet sheep skinny
  25. Bloody Hell!!! Who broke the mirror??? :p I hope everyones kids are on the mend asap!!! Touch wood both my girls are going along just dandy!! And dont go beating yourselves up about your kids and their ailments - we all know we do the best we can! Anyway - big hugs to you all, and your kids :D I spent a great weekend in Perth, attending the RRCWA shows on Saturday...Managed to snuggle some ridgie pups on Friday arvo (sooooo cute ), then managed to get lost not once but twice .....The first time to visit in Vic Park then my destination in Mt Lawley......few phone calls later and I did get there, via Bayswater and probably another couple of wrong suburbs ....I usually have a map reader, but shes in Tassie on holidays. Couldve done with a GPS!!!!! At least I didnt get lost on my way home Anyway, the weekend was great! Glad you enjoyed the Easter Egg Mirawee, well done on the BOB's!! Mr Banjo is looking gorgeous as ever!
