  1. Me and Lincoln SHOULD be there but we might have to leave a little early cause I have to work. I don't know if you know but it starts at 12.30 now. We will also be there the next day for Gundog Club show. Yes, I noticed all the ads throughout the latest K9 news. Which is why I thought I might head along. Im heading to Perth that weekend anyway, so it would be nice to spend the arvo at the dog show before heading further north to my brothers place. And I may catch up with people I didnt get to see at the Western Classic! But I WONT be bringing cake :noidea: Rat Let me know Lab Rat as I need to take the monkeys up for a handler to have a play with may be that weekend or one after, have MPW this weekend. I will definitely be there WX, I know Ive been promising to visit, but I cant get my "stuff" together! Ill give you a ring or text when I get there! How did it go with poor Spike?? Any joy?? Poor boy Rat

But I WONT be bringing cake :noidea: Rat It is looking more and more like we will be moving down south Rat, but it's not likely to happen for 12 months. We are over Ferguson Valley! Ferguson Valley is very beautiful VCBR - not far from where we are! Then I won't bother going Actually haven't entered anything coming up Might do Winter Festival but that isn't until July If I send you the recipe Mirawee, you can make the cake and bring along! Rat

  4. Valley - your pics remind me of all the photos I took of Dogs in Thailand! I even had some eejit walk past and mutter to their friend, "Its only a dog, why would you take pictures of dogs?"...............They felt my evil stare in the backs of their heads :D Rat
  5. Anyone heading to the All Breeds Show on the 22 May?? Rat
  6. Yes we did show on Sunday - she was a witch and standing wasn't in her vocab. Have now posted in the showing thread asking for help! Have you read this: http://www.dragonflyllama.com/%20DOGS/Writing/confstack.html I have no idea how I have been teaching stand, at the moment I have to hand my arm under Lincoln as he thinks the judge running thier arm down his back is a cue to sit. Great website Valley!!! Im not even showing anymore, but I want to teach both my girls now - this has made stacking training alot more understandable!! Glad everyone had a great weekend with their doggy sports! Rat
  7. Anyone heading to Bunbury on Sunday for the Agility?? I may head in for a bit between Mothers Day lunching... Rat
  8. All this talk about coats! My big tough ridgy has now decided its winter and cold and want some jammies!! Guys have a look here.....This is a Bunbury business and the girls are great - make all their own stuff, probably where the Xolos get their "clothes" I have a great light weight shower proof jacket for Zola, nice and flexible. Ideal for what youre after Masons Mum......Now I just need to get her a snuggly one with a skivvy neck and leggings so shes ultra warm :D ;) Guess who I spied in the latest Dog News Australia, brown, wavy hair, boy, cuuuuute!!! Go Lincoln!!! And the rest of his family :p :p Rat
  9. I live about 50min south east of Bunners and it takes me about 2.5 hours to get to K9 from our place on the "new road".... Directly from bunbury it would prob'ly only take about 1.5 hours maybe a little less. I dont mind the drive to Perth, its something you get used to I think. Although when you have to get up at 5am to leave its a little less exciting! And heading back south at 2am after a long show isnt very much fun either ...Thats the main reason I dont head up to many shows much any more. That and the fact that my dog a) Is spayed, b) Hates the showring and c) Isnt a wonderful example of the breed given her ears could be used as paragliding wings  ....I doooo love you Zola, truely.... Im sure if my dog was performing well in the ring it wouldnt have been such an effort! Rat
  10. Ozjen yes I am sorry! Was a whirlwind there but wow what a great spectacle I wish I had gone all day! Bunbury has the Bunbury and Districts Dog Club who mainly show but we have two excellent agility ladies in Sandra Yearsley and Debbie Russel who train on diff nights than the obedience and show training. Benotto is run by a friend of mine Claire and a good place to go but possibly more for starting out, I think there is a small club out Australiand way. I will pm you Debbie and Sandras email addies! So Lincoln might be moving to Bunners!!!!! The good thing with the Bunbury Dog Club is that they are affiliated with DogsWest!! Good luck with your "deciding" CBR ...The South West is a beautiful place to live, just a bit further to go for shows'n'stuff... Rat
  11. I agree SBT123, a very tough call. I like puppysniffer wouldnt hesitate to donate my own body to science, but my first reaction to the question of donating my dogs body was no way!! Poodlefans idea however of a cremation afterwards so you still have a part of your beloved pet is a good one, one that I hadnt thught of It sure is a very personal thing, something I would be changing my mind about quite often I think. Rat
  12. A bit but WX - the WA thread was not started as an agility thread, just that lots of the agility kids have been conversing lately! I started it so us West Aussies would have a haven to go to and talk Waussie stuff! Dont be scared off by the agility maniacs Yep, ridgies come under that category too - they love to be that close to their humans! Thanks for the pronunciation of the Dachsund - I kinda thought it was Dax-oond, but know I now better! Rat
  13. I always seem to have bruised legs from my ridgy girl! I ended up with this huge black lump behind my knee one time and it took me a while to figure out what caused it! Man that one hurt for quite some time  I try and remember to not put things at tail level, stubbies of beer/cider are most at risk in our household! I do often threaten to vet-wrap her tail to a back leg, but she just wags her tail at me Rat
  14. Most people dont know that behind closed doors Rhodesian Ridgebacks, aka African Lion Dogs are in fact the BIGGEST SOOKY LA-LA's in the world............... :p The Kelpie is far tougher ;) Rat
  15. Hey Diane, I have seen one Boerbel in Perth, but cant help you out about where to get hold of one sorry. Im guessing it would be from the above mentioned Kennel, Ataraxia. They sure are a beautiful dog! Rat
  16. Any Pet store in Bunbury anyway will give you a discount Pet Stock do and the other S West Pets will with their member card, You wanna show my dogs Lab Rat ?? I am looking for a show savvy to show them >?? ;) Pleeeeeaaaaaase!! Sh!t woman :p I think you need someone with a little more experience to show your beautiful pair and do them justice ....I have done maybe a dozen shows!! I feel nervous just having read your post!! You going to the agility weekend WX?? I may go in Saturday, but got a big Mums day Sunday. What does Sandra need help with? I may be of some use, but given I have no experience with agility other than "Wow - that looks like fun, I may try that,.....one day", dont know if theyll have me! I hope I get my k9 mag tomorrow before I go away for my "Girls Weekend away at Molloy Island" Rat
  17. Hmmmm........better start reading the mag just a little more betterer! Thanks guys Rat
  18. Do you??? Since when?? And is that at any BP&G?? Hope you guys have a great night at Checkers..... Can anyone tell me - is there an Agility weekend at Bunbury next weekend (Mothers Day weekend)? If so, anyone going?? Rat
  19. Yep Im with you Monah - damn cute aint he/she?? Rat
  20. My big wish is for a Black & Tan Kelpie............when the time is right. Our current girl is Red & Tan. I definitely prefer B&T or R&T rather than solid coloured Kelpies, although Mirawees Banjo is a BIG exception With the ridgies its a matter or light or dark, black muzzle or liver muzzle. I prefer the darker wheaten, but when it comes to muzzle colour I dont think it matters that much - have had one of each. I do think there is definate personality differences between the black mask and the liver nose! Red beaks are so much more norty Rat

  22. So Valley - did the CBRetriever bring anything home .....Norty boy!!! We have "kangaroo o'clock" at our place. Thats usually before 7am and after 5pm, depending on the time of year. Before and after those times Zola is not allowed out without a lead. Ridgebacks do not have reliable recall when they smell a roo! She hasnt bolted now for a few months, but last time it was over the road, which is very distressing. I had the good fortune to see a sheep dog demo at the Balingup Small Farm Field Day on Saturday. And I also go to cuddle the best little Kelpie pup out! A 13 week old Red & Tan demonstrating the most amazing instinct . Even stood up to a stubborn ewe, but the guy demonstrating brought out an older dog to ensure the pup didnt get any frights. Guess who might have to take up sheep dog trials Rat
  23. I have been with all but one of my darling animals when they have been euthanased. The most recent being our old mare. The worst thing was waiting for the vet - then hearing their vehicle and knowing it was almost time for her to go . My sister and I sat side by side, holding hands and stroking Sally while the angel vet did her job. It was over quickly and gently, and it still amazes me just how still death is............... I think for me being with my animal at their time of departure is important so they have their human with them at what must be a very confusing time I have been through euthanasias at home and at the vets. Ideally at home is a better option for the animal, but unfortunately its not always going to be that way. My ridgy girl 5 years ago is a good example. Emergency trip with bloat/GDV. Our vet is an hour away, no way I was going to bring poor Miekah home. At least she loved being at the vet, and didnt stress about going there. Our current ridgy however turns to jelly when we pull into the carpark - I hope I dont have to go through the same sort of thing with her. When it comes down to it, we do what we feel is best, and what we can deal with - if that means going or staying it doesnt really matter. RIP all the beautiful animals DOLers have said goodbye to at the Rainbow Bridge - you are forever in our hearts One of the biggest things that makes me cry afterward is the sympathy cards we receive in the mail from the vets - they dont have to do that and yet they do. Rat
  24. Hey Becky interesting to read about another ridgy enduring osteosarcoma and amputation! Our previous ridgy bitch was diagnosed at 9 with osteo in the front right leg - on her second xray (for confirmation) the top of her leg bone (femur?) disintegrated in the vets hands . Her entire leg and scapula was removed - ended up with a very narrow front end dog! She also had chemo, two lots and was amazing in recovery :D Unfortunately a year later she developed bloat/GDV and we had to let her go Not sure if the bloat had anything to do with her hoppy gait?? How old was your dog when diagnosed? Im pleased to hear that she is still with you after two years. You will probably agree its amazing to watch a 3 legged dog - they adapt so quickly. Our girl didnt let it affect her at all really, even digging wasnt an issue! I would love to hear of other positive outcomes from such a horrible disease. And my heart goes out to all who have lost their beloved dogs from this and other cancers... Rat
  25. Hehehe.....that was us! Dont know about chicken wings! Weve just had a week of cooked lamb mince with veges, which she loooooved! But tonight its back to raw mince! If she downs that, tomorrow we will try chicken wings.......They had tinned salmon with kibble for brekky which they both loved! I have a soft spot for ridgies, specially ailing ones! Rat
