Are these Working Dog Assoc. registered dogs??? I recognise a few of the names, like Marionvale. I live in Woop Woop South and I got my K9 news of Friday too!!
  2. Valley - I am so sorry your family has to say goodbye to your beautiful Lilly, its one of the hardest things to have to do I will be thinking of you all tomorrow Take care and enjoy your visit with Lincoln Mirawee, I walked into a book shop in Bunbury that also does the ABC shop thing to order a DVD (the young guy who did the trek across Mongolia etc.) and there it was on the shelf - staring at me!!!! I had to buy it, although I dont think Ill be getting a Christmas or Birthday present now It was a bit exxy, but I have been looking for a Tony Parsons book forever! Oh, Bedazzled - how lucky are you to have two of his first books!! I might haved to search ebay for them I think!! WX, the ABC bookshop is where I found it. Was the only one, but Im sure they would order more in!!
  3. Well I bought myself the most wonderful amazing present today  The Kelpie by Tony Parsons......Its a new book that hes just finished, a culmination of his 65 years of living Kelpies!!! I cant wait to start reading it, Ive already drooled over the many photos in it!! Mirawee, I would be like you I think, hanging out for Campdraft training excitedly - rather than being at the Royal
  4. You get your chance in 3 weeks time When and where Ptolomy??? Obedience trial at Bunbury?? If its the Sunday - I will be working  . Grrrrrr!!! Will you be around K9 on the 12th?
  5. What I dont get, and what $h!t$ me to tears, is the huge demand for these dogs, and yet rescue organisations seem to full of unwanted dogs It really is time to enforce a licence to own a dog. It is just too easy to buy a cute puppy, not train it, leave it ignored on the back yard, then dispose of it when it becomes tooooooo much of an inconvenience for the poor owner because it barks, bites, toilets in unwanted places, digs up the garden Heres a suggestion - dont buy the damn dog in the first place, buy another video game instead... Thats my rant for the day
  6. Well I feel terribly left out .....I havent met any of the red kids yet! Mirawee - new Kelpie is cute!!! Where did you find her??
  7. Oh, I just remembered..............I didnt vote ...Was that supposed to be done by the AGM?? Oh well.
  8. its like a metal comb with teeth which pick up the loose, dead hair from the coat as you brush with the *what's the word rofl* same as shaving lol go with the way of the coat Ok disclaimer i am sleep deprived and brain isn't working lol or i am having a bad blonde brain fart moment. i love it to remove the dead yucky coat leaves them sleek and shiny Hmmmmmm.........I may have to think about getting one for the Kelpie!!! Sounds like the go! PD - you will have to PM me your real name and a description!! I am over introducing myself as "Lab Rat" from DOL :D .....I think I scared VCBR when I did that at the last show!!!! I will endeavour to shrink some Llama pics this arvo. ATM we are in the middle of putting up curtains YAY.... I was just generally scared that afternoon. I was due to start work in Midland at 4 and it was like 3.15 when we chatted. ;) Oh,you poor bugger - Im sorry it was sucha stressful day for you!! Next time hopefully will ber better

  10. So how does a furminator work??? What is the actual tool?? I saw a video at City Farmers the other day, and wondered what the actual mechanism is that removes the hair??
  11. When I taught Zola to stack, she would always pick up one on her back legs and put it forward! Or she wouldnt put it down at all.....So we sould have this back leg shaking thing going on, me hanging on, her moving it around . Apparently her dad did it as well LOL!
  12. When I resize some of the pics my sister took back in March I will post some!! I am so excited about getting a new species!! I have had all sorts of animals over the years, but this will be my first camelid Its also a bit daunting, as I dont fully understand their temperaments, but I guess I will learn as I go! Emery, Im sorry you are having dramas with your girl! I must admit, my latest ridgy who is now 4 was quite a struggle to train. Have you considered some one-on-one training with someone?? It sure helped me and my girl, getting an idea of what drives them is a big help! I will take her to obedience on sunday and see how we go before i consider one on one she might just need a bit more focus first. i have let her get away with a little bit more so she is happy and energetic inthering, but she is already starting to push the boundaries and i am not going to have that she needs to listen when i ask a command of her. i think because the other two were so easy i had preconceived ideas and as i haven't yet figured out her drive like tuggin or what not it is making it harder i swear the other two rotts are labs in disguise are secret hoovers lol she was a hoover at her breeders but is so not here just wants to be difficult, i am not showing to the royal so will give us a break at least to reget into it so to speak maybe she is a bit bored with it, don't want that asshe is only a baby and i hope to have a long career with her in several disciplines Yes, previous well behaved easy to train dogs lull you into a false sense of security!! Our first ridgy girl was such an easy dog. A perfect first ridgy!! The second certainly brought us back down to earth .....Four years old and is just starting to act like a growed up dog .

  14. I was dog crazy when I was a kid. I remember having this book, that had a page of stickers in the front which had to be put on the correct breed pages. I think I wore the thing out, I took it everywhere and could pretty much recite every breed in the book.... I was so intent on having an English Springer Spaniel and a Borzoi..... As I got older I decided that ESS and grass seeds didnt go together well. I havent had a breed with longer hair than a Kelpie!! I would still love a Borzoi, a whole herd of Borzoi actually
  15. No, only about 80ks southish!! C'mon Hughie, send it down!! I heard on the weather they got almost 10mm up at Kalannie, which is north of Dowerin. Changing the subject COMPLETELY, I get to pick out my girl Llama soon!!! Then when she is in cria, I will have my very own Llama & baby!!! WOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!
  16. No rain down here!! Lots of cold wind, and clouds heading from the east????? What the??? Would love to have some rain to fill our two rainwater tanks. Who else will be showing the weekend of the 11 & 12 Sept.?? Im heading up for the RR Champ & Open shows on Saturday and the Hound show and Working Dog show on Sunday. Im sooooo looking forward to it, I get to spend the whole weekend with dogs. My favourite breeds too!
  17. I would have to agree with stormies suggestion! Please DO NOT do this!!! Trying to stare down a dog,( especially when he is in an unfamiliar place and out of his comfort zone) will only make him feel more inclined to arc up, scare you more and make him feel he can continue with that type of behaviour.
  18. Oh yeh, I will be waiting, and not going there again!!! It was an experiment with beef and bones! She is pathetic anyway, when it comes to eating bones. It almost as if anything bigger than a chicken wing is tooooo scary for her!! I remember spending about an hour laying in front of her helping and coaxing her to eat a chicken carcass Meanwhile the Kelpie had already finished hers and couldve gone another I know now (well I think I do ) that she definitely doesnt tolerate beef. So it will be back to lamb for a while. She hasnt had chicken for a while either - that seems to make the inside of her lips very irritated.....In a couple of months I will give turkey a go I think! Poor dogs!!! I wish they could talk! Let us know exactly what was going on with them when something doesnt agree with their tummies! I hope Mr Mandela is feeling better soon...
  19. What!!! Is is Nacas birthday????? Happy Birthday you gorgeous dog!!! I think its cute they have bonded so much to you WX!! Great to see they are doing so well at their shows, and the judges seem to be taking an interest??
  20. So do they have any chance at the GF??????? Being a diehard EAGLES fan I havent been taking ANY notice at all.... I also stupidly joined up for footy tipping at work this year :D and Ive been a bit like the WCE's, havent moved any higher than 5 from the bottom!!! Dont think Ill waste my money next year!!
  21. PD888 what great pics of Buzz.....I like whippies, they are so damn cute!! Mind you I like most long beaked dogs!! My RR friend has a trio of Whippy girls along with her herd of RR's, the youngest you may have seen in the ring!! She is a littlebrindle ratbag!! I have also met Jimmy the Whippet a number of times at Perth shows. You probably know him too!
  22. Wow - di they have to cut his eyelid when they did the surgery??? When my girl had a front leg amputated I freaked out as there was lots of fat, hanging out non matching egdes. It wasnt a straight line, and of course the vet wasnt a plastic surgeon. However, as it healed it was as smooth as, and she hardly had a scar. Quite impressive I thought for such a large area. I hope your dear dog recovers well, and if youre worried, Id go back to the vet!
  23. Haley - the dates on the dogswest site are 10/8, 8/9 and 11/10 and to be there by 6.45 pm Hope that helps No comment on the Dockers
