I'm Not Really Sure If This Counts As A 'problem' As Such.
dasha replied to I love goldens's topic in Puppy Chat
I have a Pippa. It ends up being Pip. My recall word is here....... So Here Pip, when called sounds like I am saying Hip Pip (Hooray) Just a thought...... Good luck with your new puppy. -
If it is a good quality dry food...YES The good ones are designed to be a complete diet. You can always give bones and table scraps to add to it to vary it but otherwise it is fine. My dogs are fed a mainly biscuit diet. Then I get them raw bones of various species to have a few times a week.

Nope..... I didn't make the list!!!!!
-
Yep, good number when you have orders for 4 and interest in others....
-
I use it everyday........ It is corrosive to metal. It also dries with a white residue which the manufacturer tells us is a salty residue. Salt is corrosive also
-
Virkon is also VERY corrosive so once it has had 10 mins contact time, you need to wash it off. It will strip paint too.

6 pups is the action................ 4 girls (as per the order book) and 2 boys for others. All black and white. Good weights and very strong healthy pups.

Thanks guys. Just out in her shed watching. She is guarding the food bowls and whelping box like cujo... She looks uncomfortable and is looking around a lot. And breathing fast.
-
She didn't eat ANYTHING at all today..... SHe is in her bed ripping up paper and panting...... She is looking a little bit unsure. This bitch last time was playing tug an hour before her last litter so her actually wanting to sit in the box and not come out is a good sign. She was mated on 19th and 20th November. Do you think she is too early to have them today????

Leaving Clam Shells With Water In Dog Runs
dasha replied to mantis's topic in General Dog Discussion
Definitely.... I try to leave a body of water around for them. A bowl or bucket gets warm quickly. The bigger the body of water, the cooler the water (and dog) stays -
Lol... They do kind of explode don't they. Tonight mine is VERY protective of her area. She is not a dominant bitch in the family but if any of the dogs were sniffing outside her door tonight, she was straight into the whelping box with the food and growling at the doorway. I had to put a curtain up so she couldn't see out.

Anyone Remember Old Keith Colcott, From Agility Trials
dasha replied to sheena's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yes, I remember him when he first started agility with his dog "Cody". That was a long time ago. He certainly enjoyed his sporting activities as he retired and he kept at it no matter how hard it was for him.. Good on him. RIP Keith -
Sorry to hear about that Bel. I hope all goes well with the next bitch if you breed them. Jerojath.... NOT exactly fading away is correct. I am hoping that isn't 10 pups!!!!!! Her last pups ranged in size from 180gm to 300gm each. Only 2 big ones but her average size was about 250gm each........... My other one had 5 boys at 500gm

I didn't give her breakfast as she didn't eat her dinner. I had to get up to her about 3 times in the night as she NEEDED to get out and toilet. Her temp was normal. 37.4 I took her to the vet this am just for a once over. Temp 38, everything else ok. Conservative treatment due to her late stage pregnancy. So just chicken and rice diet for the next day or so..... SHe will love that. Even though she isn't eating much biscuits, she will eat meat and the good stuff........ She is still fine in herself though so thats good. ETA: she has put on 5kg since her 4 week ultrasound........

I picked up a RBB once and relocated it to some local bushland..... Certainly not something I would like to do often. It was a bit over a metre long. They are actually quite amazing if you take the time to watch them. This one was trying to get in our shed so I had to block it. I tried to call our neighbour that does snake stuff but he was at work of course.... This snake was in the garden and even as you watched it, the bloody thing disappeared before your eyes. It was like it was shimmying itself to make the leave mulch come over it. So in effect it hadn't moved along, but one minute you are watching it, the next it had buried itself....... I couldn't kill it though...... Its only a living animal trying to survive and go about its snake business. I mean a snake has to eat too.... RBB I have been told are generally timid and if there is noise and activity, will hide. They are generally only aggressive if they are threatened or interfered with ie stepped on, cornered, dogs trying to catch them etc. The Browns are the worst... I think.... I wonder if there is a course or something people can do to be able to get experience handling them. It would be better than people trying to randomly pick one up.... Like me. But I got it in a feed bag and put it in the car and took it away....... It prob came back but I have't seen it so.............

SLF I had 2 working border litters a while ago. 1 bitch was quite relaxed and lay in the box ALOT with her pups, She even let the other dogs come in and sit in the box to see the puppies. The other one is a very busy bitch. She didn't want to miss out on any activity. As soon as the back door opened, she would be ou of the box and wanting to come with us. She would even lay with her head hanging out the side just so she could see if someone came out of the house.... And if you went anywhere near the gates to the sheep, the barking she started was crazy. I used to just leave her in the shed a lot and go in and sit with her. If I let her have free roam, she wanted to see everything else that was happening. Like yours, if puppies squeaked, she would go back but she was just so interested in everything. That is her nature though. She is due to have the pups next week so I am expecting the same thing. She was just best left alone to do the job. It was better that I went in to her kennel area to play with her and spend time with her IN the kennel rather than be letting her out. I would let her out regularly to toilet and stretch her legs but if I let her out too much, she just expected it each time someone went outside.

Bullmastiff puppies.....cute. Can't wait for pics. My girl who is normally a guts, has been taking an hour to eat her breakfast over the last few days. She had been eating dinner ok though, just a bit slower (chewing them actually!!!). Tonight, while I was at work she had terrible Diarrhoea in her pen so I only gave her a half feed tonight but even then she didn't eat it straight away. She looked at the bowl and licked it but that was it. Will wait and see how she is in am. She is still a week away. She is still bright though and wanting to work and play ball, chase the hose, swim in the river etc. She doesn't have the first clue about maternity leave and the idea of resting.....

So you don't buy the meat. Good for you. And if others don't either, it won't stop him buying them. Do you buy blood and bone for the garden..... It is also made of knackery animals. The ones that aren't edible due to treatments etc go through the fertilizer machine And by the way, I have been to plenty of sales. He lives 5 mins from me. It's not a way I choose to make a living but he does and who am I to judge other people's choices
-
He does also sell horses to people that see them and want them. He does also have horses at the premises on agistment so just because there is a lot there, they aren't all dog meat. Someone obviously bought a good one off him and it became a top level showjumper. Its name is MR BURNS....... His meat is fresh, good quality and well priced to answer the OP

Ok well I might go and get some tinned pineapple juice and give that a go. I have 1 that nibbles a bit (I think on her own) but I have 6 dogs so they will all have to have it just in case!!!
-
Yes but I can feel when there is no more left....... I think I am just being too nosey.......

Just wondering what people do. My bitch was mated on 19th November so that puts her due about 21st jan. Am considering getting an X-ray to try to find out numbers but is it really necessary. Her last litter I didn't X-ray. She popped out pups no problems. Her belly already looks bigger than it did last time! Just thinking that everything has gone so smoothly is it just a waste. Should I be patient and just be surprised at what is delivered
-
is tinned pineapple ok or does it need to be fresh? I have heard both
-
I would get him used to a muzzle anyway. You will probably find too that if he is muzzled, other people will make an effort to stop their dogs going near yours. Suddenly they will care that it goes up to other dogs. If he has issues from fear anyway, he will prob need to be muzzled at some point in his life eg vets or whatever. Rather than add the stress of putting a muzzle on him under those conditions, better to get him used to it in a more relaxed environment
