No it is not legal. I offer a $250 refund upon proof of desexing ie. photocopy of the vet desexing certificate. I can either pay the owners or the vet direct. 100% success rate to date. I feel if you make the refund a decent amount you have more chance of them following though, however if I did not think they would desex they would not get a pup to start with. ETA My contract says they must be de-sexed between 9-12 months of age. I am in close contact with my puppy buyers, I see each pup several times a year and we have a yearly family reunion. I would soon find out if there was an un-desexed pup.

Initial to prevent breeding and secondary to adress behavior? Tubal ligation doesn't prevent a bitch from having seasons. I wonder if the council will accept tubal ligation as desexed in terms of registering for a discounted fee?

yes - I can see your point to be honest I think it's time Specialty Shows had to draw certain numbers in order to retain their Ch show. I agree, our recent champ show in NSW had an entry of 29, 25 were shown and of those 25 - 6 were babies. That is an entry of 19 for a Champ Show, the same breed gets 50+ here in Vic at a Champ Show.

Maybe an accidental mating that they were hoping didn't actually happen, but now the bitch is large enough it can't be hidden any more?

A little OT, but along the same lines of not being prepared - I often get people who order 2-3 days before there bitch is due to whelp! And they say can I have it by tomorrow, um no you are in the middle of no where and even express post won't get it to you in under 2 days.

In Vic, 95% of the time you have to pay a stall fee and can not sell things from your marquee. I would take it up with the club holding the show and the CCCQ.
