Are you using a laser sighted thermometer like a gun? If I use ours I get temps like yours as they measure the surface temp not the air temp. Yes, it is - the forcast temperature or recorded temp is air temp and in the shade. But think about it - a dog in the ring does not have an 'air temp' it has a surface temp. And this is what the RSPCA or Gov Dep will be checking when they get it into their heads to do spot checks on dog shows over summer - and they will. Bureau of Meteorology do not use that type to measure temps as is often inaccurate and measure surface and not air temp - I spoke to them in regards to an online weather station. He said they always go off air temp not surface temp. I'm less then 2km from the Park and if it was that hot I would be dead, I hate the heat!!

Show finished at 1pm it was 30.5°C at 02:00 PM BIS - Mini Poodle RUBIS - Ridgeback
-
30.5°C at 02:00 PM I have not heard any results yet.
-
Many plants like muggy, humid air - people and dogs do not.
-
Would be a great start.

LOVE THIS !! You click on a show and all the results that have been entered into DOL for that show are displayed on the one page. It only displays results of those entered into the point score. List of show results

Evaporative air coolers don't work in this humidity - it makes makes things sticky, wet, more muggy and ergghh I have evap at home.

I live around the corner and no way was it that temp.

29.6°C at 01:00 PM

Why, Who wants to win that??
-
To be fair it is only 27.8°C at 10am - Most of us would show in that heat, it's not 40 now and they are showing in that.

Twilight Shows - Would You Attend ? Victorian Poll
SwaY replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
The other night inside was stuffy, yet out side had a nice breeeze. Yes it was warm in the direct sun, yet in the shade it was nice - I would rather my group be outdoors. -
According to someone who is at the show 80% are absent - I haven't seen the exact figures, not been there to see for myself.

Some clubs are working on raising the funds for the lights, rumored to cost approx $130,000. -
I agree, suggestions is not enough - there needs to be hard and fast set temperature rule.

Twilight Shows - Would You Attend ? Victorian Poll
SwaY replied to SwaY's topic in General Dog Discussion
I love twilight shows and I think anything over 35°C is too hot. -
It's currently 28.1°C

I am all for twilight shows at this time of year, so I thought I would start a poll on it as well as a cut off for shows due to heat.
-
The rule was changed, it's up to each club to set it's rules -it must be mentioned in the gazette as far as i am aware.
-
To be fair, many breeds/groups will be done before the heat of the day, Yes some people will have to travel, others like myself live within 5min of the park. Some dogs like people like the heat, others do not, Some dogs will travel in the car in aircon, some may not.

Does Bulla have lights? If so could it be possible to schedule the shows that fall during the warmer weather months there for Twilight? Bulla does have lights, however we are told they are unreliable. We wanted to have our twilight Champ show outside and was told no due to the lights being unreliable.
