They often catch water if the roof is not pulled down tight in the corners and/or the strap that attaches the roof to the middle of the cross over poles on the side is not tight.

Paracord can be bought on ebay US, it's quite cheap - the shipping is not. You would be better off getting someone to buy them for you and sending them up, would be more cost efficient i would imagine.

Unproductive vomiting is not always the first sign. Every dog is different, those who bloat more then once don't often show the same signs the second time around.
-
As not all dogs torsion, not all dogs show all the signs. Even those who do torsion don't show all the signs. GDV comes in three stages Stage 1 The first stage of bloat is when the stomach fills with air, food and liquid and becomes distended. This is a basic gastric dilatation and the dog will become very uncomfortable Symptoms: 1. Anxiety, restlessness and panting. 2. Foaming at the mouth. 3. may lick the air. 4. Try and eat sticks, stones, rubbish. 5. Retching saliva but no stomach contents every 10 to 20 minutes. 6. Moderately enlarged abdomen with a watermelon sound when thumped. Stage 2 The first stage symptoms occur but in addition, now the stomach flips around or twists and ALMOST cuts off entry and exit of anything to the stomach. This results in a torsion of the stomach which is obviously life-threatening. It can happen extremely quickly - moving from just dilatation to strangulation is a matter of degrees. Symptoms: 1. Severe restlessness with reluctance to lie down. 2. Panting continuously. 3. Gums brick red. 4. Vomiting is attempted frequently (every two or three minutes). 5. Heart rate 80 to 100. 6. Abdomen enlarged and tense; sounding hollow when thumped. Stage 3 This is the final stage and the most deadly - when the stomach has twisted or flipped over as above but now it is completely cutting off entry or exit of anything into or out of the stomach. This is the stage of the disease called the volvulus. Symptoms: 1. Dog unable to rise or is wobbly or has a sawhorse stance. 2. Gums are blue or white. 3. Abdomen is greatly distended, often distending before your eyes. 4. Heart rate 120 or greater with little pulse.

They are not water proof they are water resistant. They quite often leak at the seams with age, as the plasticy type strip on the inside over the stitching comes away.

What is Gastric Dilatation and Volvulus? " Gastric Dilatation" is the technical name for an abnormal accumulation of air, fluid, and/or foam in the stomach; we usually call this BLOAT. "Volvulus" refers to a dangerous twisting, rotation, or torsion of the stomach.
-
Gastric Dilation (bloat) with Volvulus (torsion) is the correct term. A dog can bloat and not torsion, that's whay it's called Gastric Dilation with Volvulus or GDV Degas does work as it's given during the first stage of bloat before the torsion starts. Many people swear buy it.

Dog A Original points for the BOB comp - 321 Top 30 scores = 177 Finished in #5 - Did 76 shows Breed average of 1 per show Dog B Original points for the BOB comp - 233 Top 30 scores = 224 Finished in #12 - Did 35 shows Breed average of 7 per show Dog B would have won under the best 30 results for the BREED. ETA Sorry, should have said, Dog B have beaten Dog A as i did not use the top two winners to work this one out.

Dog A Original points for the BOB comp - 755 Top 30 scores = 585 Finished in #1 - Did 57 shows Breed average of 14 per show Dog B Original points for the BOB comp - 661 Top 30 scores = 513 Finished in #2 - Did 48 shows Breed average of 14 per show Difference of 94 old 2009 system Difference of 72 new 2011 system Dog A would win at both systems Old and the new 30-40show rules if it came in. * If dog B did an extra 9 shows (that would make it 57 shows each) And had the same average of 14 entries per show x 9 = 126 They would have been #1 with 787

I have spoken to many people and they say the opposite, they say they are more likely to enter. I think a POLL run by Troy would be great, once he has ideas to go with etc.
-
I picked a random breed to do this. Dog A Original points for the BOB comp - 199 Top 30 scores = 118 Finished in #1 - Did 72 shows Breed average of 3 per show Dog B Original points for the BOB comp - 140 Top 30 scores = 140 Finished in #2 - Did 8 shows Breed average of 18 per show If it was capped at 30 shows, dog B would have won.
-
I get what your saying, but I don't see why those with more competition should be penalised if they do less shows. - They still beat the most numbers of that breed, which is what the Best Of Breed leader board is about. Last week we had 32 Danes out at Bulla, this weekend 8 at KCC park.
-
I think the fairer the system for the majority, then more will enter - That's what i have been hearing for the last 2 years. perhaps Troy can nut it out and then do a poll or something?
-
You would then have to know where everyone lived, and what days they could enter. If that was the case you would have to then lower it for the shows that are cancelled due to weather, Those who work weekends, those who don't like the judge, dog out of coat, bitch in season, those who can't get a babysitter etc It will never be a perfect system for everyone, but it would sure mark it fairer if those shows were capped. An example from the breed point score 2009 Someone went to 76 shows last year, they came in #5 - breed score. The winner did 34 shows.
-
Then all of your 24 shows would be entered, in fact it would make it fairer for you. As your 24 shows, would be up against those who had 30-40 shows, versus 40+ shows in the final score.

I feed Euk i don't soak the food, i do add some water to the dry food and mince. If we knew what caused bloat 100% im sure we would have far less cases in every breed. I stick to a routine and don't change it.
-
You would have to ring and ask him, im sorry i didn't ask the price when i spoke to him.
