Mastini's bitch was mated Dec 2nd - am I calculate that to be ovulated on the 29 Nov, would be due 31st Jan. (going on the above pic) Reading back over the posts I wonder if she was ready on the night of the 30th and didn't progress? Was restless the night of the 30th, was clingy on the 31st also spiked a temp that night, dark bloody discharge on the 1st - cesar on the 1st Once a pups is dead and close to it's whelping date it breaks down very quickly, and I suspect this was the dark bloody discharge.

I have been reading into frozen semen of late, and it seems a common error is calculating that dates. I asked about the dates because I had calculated when Mina was due, and when Nic's baby was due and I was pretty sure Mina would be due first. At one stage I even said Mina would go first. When you went back to Dr Girling for your ultrasound did he give you a due date? Seems strange no one mentioned it to you, maybe they thought you knew?

You could make all that stuff your self or buy some via eBay Plank of wood on bricks, old ducted heating piping, old bike tube suspended, Teeter plank of wood nails to an old tin. As long as it was all good quality stuff and no nails etc I imagine it would do the same job at a fraction of the cost.

I have said this in another thread, If they want something that makes the good breeders stand out why don't this issue an award or a membership themselves - Not buy it, it is issued. Money can buy anything. ANKC would pick and chose who got approved - im not sure how they would do it, to me it has more merit then buying the Label of "Accredited Breeder"

I agree enforce the rules you already have in place. You will have no arguments with anybody over that. Why aren't they, though? That's the million dollar question. It they did there would be less of a reason to have the Breeder Accredited System. - Are the ethical breeders being made to feel that they are less of a breeder by not being an Accredited Breeder? Yes, some feel they need to pay up to stand away from the not so ethical breeders, This isn't always the case, as some not so ethical breeders are also in the Accredited Breeder program standing beside them.

As a rule I would say yes they double there weight. This litter they did not, I choose to supplement before they got to low in weight and it was to late. 2-3days after birth if no gain in 24hour hours I supplement. Tube feeding is free calories, they don't have to work for the food so save energy.
