  1. Wish I lived in WA! That's fantastic. But I guess you were already way ahead of the times with accepting titre tests, anyway? It's not too common here, but I found the kennel I wanted to use very approachable, and fine with it once they were sure that no dogs would be put at risk. Maybe I'll ask them about the 2 yearly tests.
  2. Just wanted to answer about the frequency of the tests. You only need to test once a year for the kennels, just like the vaccination protocol they require. Mine had such high titres and indicators this year that the result sheet suggested testing again in 2 years. (But will probably need to do it again next year for the kennel). Your friend might have some luck with the kennels if she gets a letter from her vet, explaining what the titre tests are, what they show etc, and then takes the lab results in and explains it all in person. That's what I did, because I wanted to use a particular kennel which had not previously dealt with the titre tests. The kennel was fine with it, even though their stated policy was for C5 vaccs. They just want to be sure that both your dogs and the dogs of the other customers aren't at risk. (Have had the dogs in a number of times, now, and very happy with the kennel So the extra running around was all worth it )
  3. Hi ange165, Sorry to hear about your pup HOD seems to affect a lot of weims, especially in the US (probably partly a function of the large numbers of weims there). I don't have any experience personally, but on the board I've linked below there were a number of weim owners who coped with HOD - some extreme cases. Not sure whether they are still current members, but you might get some (at least emotional) support from others who've been through it with their weims, and the long term members will know a lot about HOD in weims. Good luck, and I hope your poor pup is feeling better soon. link to board: http://groups.msn.com/Weimaraners/1.msnw
  4. Poor little bub. Good luck with him, hope he pulls out of this. Jed - that was a terrific post. Thank you. May I please have permission to post it elsewhere? (with your name on it, of course) efs
  5. I'm so very sorry. I have no words that can help, but I feel deeply for you. RIP Sophie
  6. I'm so sorry. RIP old guy. All dogs are young again at the bridge.
  7. I'm so very sorry. What a terrible thing to happen. Rip Brodie
  8. I'm so sorry. She was a gorgeous little sweetheart. Rip Miss Powerlegs.
  9. I'm so sorry. She was a lovely girl. Rip Rumour. All dogs are young again at the bridge.
  10. I think the microchip tattoo is the letter 'M' in the dogs right ear (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Thanks MissB. I didn't know this could be done - it sounds like a great idea. Don't worry, you didn't sound like that. But a funny mental picture - have to have a suitable costume, I think. It can be a challenge to read stuff in the way it's meant on forums. With only emoticons to help it can get a bit difficult to read the "tone". And thanks for posting - I for one learnt something I didn't know before
  11. Poor Jack. Hope he feels better very soon. Has the vet said what the infection is?
  12. Kobayashi, did the vet tattoo the microchip number for you? This sounds like a great idea to me - I never knew you could get it done. Mine have two tattoos as well - one to indicate they are desexed and the other from the breeder/club. I was asked both times.
  13. Thanks Shoemonster! Don't know if I'll have a go or not. I haven't got a garage, and we have more than enough stinky smells in our house already, I think!
  14. doberkids, I have the ezidri snackmaker. It's been really good (except it's a bit noisy with the fan). I always try to have most of the drying time at night so I can't hear it.
  15. Can you please tell me - is it MEGA stinky? And can you still use the machine for other things afterwards, or does the meaty smell go into it permanently? I've had a dehydrator for ages, to do fruit and veg for us, but have never done meat. Too chicken (groaann, sorry ) I'd like to have a go at some dog treats, but I don't want to stinkify the dehydrator permanently. TIA
