Thankyou I'm feeling a bit better about my decision now, I just hated the thought that I may have "ripped them off" she's settling in well now, it just took her a couple of days realise they weren't coming back for her, she's stopped howling & doesn't wait at the gate for them anymore & has started to make firm friends with the rest of the pack including the cat

I agree Michelle, The puppy howled for 2 days when she came home & was clearly pining for them so obviously she had "bonded" with them !

Thanks Angelsun, I feel a bit better about my actions now, I was starting to wonder if I was being unreasonable

I recently have had an 8 month old puppy returned due to the new owners "not bonding" with her they have had her since she was 10 weeks old & have received regular training advice from me, the puppy is not naughty just a regular puppy who likes to collect anything the kids leave lying around, she sits drops & waves & is generally a lovely girl, so I feel as a breeder I have not failed in my duty to provide a healthy happy & well socialised baby. From the start it was allways stipulated that if it didn't work out for any reason for the life of the puppy she was to be returned to me, at no time was there a mention of a refunded purchase price. When I picked her up I gave them 3/4 of what they paid for her because I felt it was the right thing to do, the puppy will not be rehomed she will stay with me for life, th old owners are not happy with this & are demanding the full purchase price be repaid. I have the dog & her papers in my name, so what should I do? I don't want to end on bad terms with these people but I also think I've been fair?

Thanks guys, I've actually done exactly as Ozstar suggested & put him on the front teat & no rattling at all fingers crossed thats all it is & stopping him guts will sort it out, I will keep up the AB's & physio as well just to be safe.
-
Thanks for all the advice, the pups were born 2 days after their due date so not premmie had a look with my mini mag light & definately cant see any cleft at all, he has no rattle when he isn't feeding ( I've used a stethascope) and I've been watching him feed all day it seems its only when he's not fed for awhile ie: 1hr. if he has smaller feeds he seems to not do it at all. If the AB's & physio haven't completely stopped it by tomorrow Im taking him in for a full check at the vets, better to be over cautious,in all other respects he's strong & active.

Here's a couple of pic's of the pup in the grp shot he's on the far right
-
He's gaining really well he's by far the plumpest in the litter, it is a litter of 5 ( Aussie Shepherd) & mum has had big litters previously & she looks like a Jersey cow with only having 5 to feed I've only ever had 2 litters prior to this litter & had pups lose weight the first day but so far all the pups have actually gained from day 1? the baby with the issue was 320gm at birth & day 3 is 400gm.

Yeah I checked his palate that was my first thought as well but it seems perfectly normal, I was wondering if I could crush up a tablet and make some drops with sterile water but wasn't sure how much tablet to use thanks Fifi :p
-
Yep i swung them as well as suctioned I just watched him feed & he blew some milk out of his nose :p I have talked to the vet & have someone bringing the clavulox drops this morning ( I don't leave them for the first 2 weeks).
-
Thanks for the advice :p All the babies were suctioned thoroughly at birth but perhaps he did enhale a bit of fluid first? but he is a greedy baby & very fat & it does seem to be like he has something up his nose as he also nuffles/sneezes a bit while feeding so I will try the physio & see what happens.

I have a litter that was whelped on Friday & the biggest pup in the litter is a bit "rattley" while feeding he is silent when sleeping & appears to have no trouble breathing (isn't labouring at all at rest ) I have checked his palate & all is good there, the rattling when he feeds I noticed at 3am & he is the same at 8am so Im thinking he may have a chest infection? so obviously antibiotics will be needed I don't want to take him into my vet due to a recent parvo issue at the vet but when they open I will ring & see what he says. Does anyone have any similar experience & any idea if I'm on the right track?

So sorry to hear about your boy PP I'm sure the op will go smoothly & once his coat regrows hopefully be back in the ring hugs & everything crossed for you :p

Do you mean holding the pups facing downwards? or do you mean swinging them to clear the airways? or neither

Im currently on the lookout for an adult Boston for a friend who will offer an amazing home as an only dog & was wondering what the likelyhood of finding a retired show/breeding dog ( will be desexed ) do they ever become available? & if so are they a breed that will adapt well to a change of home as an adult? Thanks for any replies

There is a place in Midvale just off Farrel road " A & D pet meats" its preservative & colouring free, I think the green bits are from the meat stamp from the Abbitoir???
-
Thanks for that I'll go onto natural pet store & order some

As the title say's, I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a supplier of Orijen dry food in WA? If not where would I be able to source it to have it freighted here?
-
Yes & ask them exactly where some of their carcasses come from. I seem to remember a neighbor from years ago with a deceased horse having a knackery with a very similar name call to collect it. Also a white pony with terminal cancer ended up there. I guess zoo animals are ok with this but its not what I'd want to feed my dogs. JMO Another supplier we used caused some doubt about the reliability of their labelling when some "mutton" cuts ordered were observed to have kangaroo fur.. Now stick to raw chicken necks, at least we know what they are and where they came from. Yes they are the knackers but they also operate a burial service & sick animals aren't used for meat only the ones slaughtered at the abbitoir & white horses regardless of if they have known cancer or not are simply disposed of & not processed ( I asked all this myself & have been to the premises ), they do horses, cows & sheep & are on the main hwy to Byford next to a chicken farm.
