Has anyone recently Imported a dog/puppy from New Zealand? and if so what were the costs & who did you use as an agent? I have been quoted about $2500 for a dog in a PP60.

I know with animal network it is mandatory to have a microchip scanned by a vet when taking DNA. If no microchip is implanted how can people identify puppies that may have different sires?
-
I was speaking to a breeder who has apparently had her puppies DNA tested for parentage but they are not micro chipped yet? I thought dogs needed yo be chipped before DNA is done?

Thanks for the replies, the puppy is going back to the vet again today, they are treating her for a bladder infection as well ;-) but the vet is confused as to if she is also in season.

I've had a puppy buyer contact me because she believes her pup has come into season already, the puppy in question is 4 months old ! I've never had a bitch come into season this early infact none of mine have come in before 9 months. So my question is how early is the earliest you have had a bitch come into season? The puppy owner has had her at the vet & the vet is a bit confused as to what is going on. Thanks for any replies !

I have 2 dogs arriving from the US in early Feb to Eastern creek quarantine, I live in WA so I need to organise a goomer to bath, dry & do nails twice during their stay, is there someone who regularly grooms at the quarantine station ? if not does anyone have any suggestions for a reliable groomer? Thanks !

Not true plenty of horses with scars are shown :) I myself have shown a Hack with a scar on his back leg & as long as it doesn't effect movement I'm sure showing a dog with a scar would be fine.

How Long Does It Usually Take For Ava Hips Scores
MYSQL replied to MYSQL's topic in Breeders Community
Nope I Have left a message for the vet I used for the xrays ( who sent them off to AVA not Rawlinson :-( ) to chase them up if I don't hear back I will be calling them monday ! I will NEVER allow my xrays to be sent to AVA again, from now on it will be Rawlinson as they have always been fantastic at getting them back quickly. -
I had a dogs hips & elbows done & sent off to AVA for reading, it was 3 weeks ago & still no results? I have used Wyburn & Rawlinson & they are always very quick ! Has anyone else used AVA for hip scores & if so how long have they taken to get results back to you?

Why would you dodge someone who is or has been a registered breeder?

Urgent Home Or Foster For Elderly Poodle
MYSQL replied to Rascalmyshadow's topic in General Dog Discussion
If the cornish's are in WA I can take them if they are urgent, I have 2 desexed Devon rex kitties & adore the Cornish rex ! -
I make sure I reply to all my puppy enquiries. There are often the usual " I'm looking for a puppy can you send me pic's of them? " but even though these would be easy to delete & shrug off as time wasters, I feel its my job as a breeder to be hospitable & as helpful as possible, I usually reply by asking them what they are looking for in a dog & ask them to tell a bit about themselves. Naturally there are no guarantee's you will get a puppy from me but I try hard to not insult or be rude. I have on the other hand spoken to breeders in the past who have been anything but helpful & I can see how buying from a registered breeder can seem too daunting.

Wit all the dogs I have bought overseas I've always paid with Paypal, its easy, fast & secure, I would want the same if exporting.

With the horses unfortunately you cannot legally stop the owner removing the horses regardless of if she has paid the outstanding agistment or not. Horses ( and to my knowledge ) dogs are classed as possessions and you cannot withold them from their rightful owner, with the exception of inceasing their value ie: if the horses were there being educated ( hence more valuable due to the training )the person owed the money can hold onto the goods ( horses) until monies are paid. With regards to the agistment the person owed the money can submit an itemised account to the agister & if no monies are paid then the person owed the money can take them to what was previously called small claims court ( can't remember what it is now called) and recoup their costs. With the dog I beleive it would be a similar situation. Its a sticky situation & 1 I would be seeking legal advice for, until then I would personally remove the dog in question to somewhere not known to the person trying to regain ownership until you are sure of your legal options ;)

I think its a fantastic idea !!! I've bred 3 litters & out of those 3 litters 2 of those puppies ended up in the pound system at different times( 1 in WA & 1 in Vic ), luckily I was on the microchip as a secondary contact so had extra contact details for the current owners. both were reunited with thier owners the same day after having escaped from the yards due to a gate being left open & a storm blowing a fence down, had they not been able to contact someone there was a risk they may have been euthanised As breeders it is our responsibility to do whatever it takes to keep dogs we have bred safe & that includes flying them home from another state & paying pound fee's to get them out if for some reason the current owner is unwilling or unable to do so ;)

I always have space available for an Australian Shepherd in need & will take on dogs that need desexing & rehoming regardless of where they came from, luckily alot of breeders take back dogs they have bred if need be, but for those that don't, I feel its helpful to the breed if I take them on desex them & place them in suitable lifelong homes, luckily its rare that I need to do this

In my breed ( Australian Shepherd's) my favourite colour is Black tri luckily because I have 5 gorgeous black tri's, my next favourite is Blue merle I own 1 desexed girl & 1 desexed boy, next is Red Merle so far I have never owned 1 & my least favourite colour is Red tri, but I have recently bought 2 from the USA When it comes down to it I beleive there is no such thing as a good dog of a "bad" colour, so my choices have always been based on conformation rather than colour/markings.

Static flew from USA to Sydney at 3 weeks pregnant then at 7 weeks pregnant from Sydney to Perth & delivered 8 healthy babies
-
The specialist that made this possible ( ended up being an outstanding litter that has since been repeated )was in NSW I can get details for you if you would like?
-
I have heard of a bitch in a similar situation to the OP's that was given a very expensive human fertility drug at a specialist vet & she came into season within a day or so & they ended up with 8 healthy puppies.

Im very greatful to have the dog back, i kept in regular contact hence knowing things weren't all perfect, at first they said if for some reason I couldn't take her back like we had agreed then they were going to "sell her" naturally I replied with "we have an agreement she is returned should you be unable to keep her" they then changed their mind & decided they couldn't part with her. Two weeks later I got a msg saying we have decided you can have her back but you need to pick her up ASAP I was very worried that they may just get sick of her & either dump her in a pound or sell her in the local paper so I went around with some money grabbed the dog & her paperwork ( still in my name) and got her out of there, it was on my way home they got brave & demanded a FULL refund The dog has been well cared for physically & is just a happy boisterous baby who hasn't had any boundaries.
-
Yep Lyndsay she is a Scam x Static baby & the typical Scambo kid a total lovebug ;) I will take some pic's this week for the aussie thread I totally agree it was more a case of "can't be bothered" I got all the excuses under the sun when I picked her up, including but not limited to : she chased the cat ( funny how gently she plays with mine ) she brought half a dead wild rabbit up to the house so MUST have killed it,steals everything the kids leave lying around, & plays too rough with their old goldie. I just wanted to scream " SHE"S A YOUNG AUSSIE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! " I told them exactly what to expect before they took her home. I also know of a friend who is having a 17 month old returned because the owner is having a baby now so they don't want him anymore It just makes me wish we could put an order in for exactly what we want out of each mating , & no more, then the stress of finding the right pet homes would be gone Thanks for listening to my rant
