Thanks for all the replies. I don't know how to splice matts, these are quite close to his skin, on his stomach. I guess it's probably safe to say that this is a job for a groomer?

Thanks for the reply Yes it's $65 at all the places I've contacted but I'm a bit embarassed what they'll think about the matts in his fur that have snuck up on us

We have a really bad tick problem here and Ollie gets bad skin rashes etc. it would just make summer easier.

Hi everyone, Hoping to get some guidance in the right direction here. I am looking to buy a set of cheap clippers for my 3yo cav, Ollie. I don't want this to be a big investment because I am very low on money and we would only be clipping him about once a year for summer. I was wondering what people on here thought of these two options that I found on gumtree: http://sydney.gumtree.com.au/c-Pets-pet-su...QAdIdZ175894851 http://sydney.gumtree.com.au/c-Pets-pet-su...QAdIdZ176625430 Thanks! Oh and I know that ideally I should be getting new ones for $200+ but it really isn't an option right now. Snap

Good work! Some awesome jumping shots there. Make sure you dont shoot in strong sun with white dogs as it tends to overexpose.

Hey Zac's Mate, thought I'd have a play around for you. Hope you like it

As it's your first DSLR it might be worth looking at second hand cameras? I bought mine with two kit lenses on gumtree and it's been going strong for a year.
-
Sorry for the misunderstanding, yes I meant the two lenses together for $300. $200 for the zoom and $100 for the 50.

I've found someone selling this lens + the 50mm 1.8 for $300, which sounds like a great deal! I've been looking into this lens a lot and love what I'm seeing. The main downfall I've heard is that the autofocus is slow. If anyone here owns and uses the nikon 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 I'd love to hear what you have to say about it Thanks!

Thanks Rugerfly and Ashanali I'll check them out

Wow awesome! One tiny nit pick, can you just brighten Cooper's pic a tad? It just seems a bit darker than the other three. Otherwise, wicked!

Thanks rubiton and kja. Unfortunately I shoot with Nikon so POTN isn't so helpful.

I've just sold my kit lenses, bittersweet moment. I'm looking into getting the 50mm 1.8 and maybe a few old manual focus lenses. I don't have a particular 'style' at this time, it's all about learning and getting better. Although looking at the big picture, in two years time I'll be in need of a travel lens, or several small, lightweight lenses to make up a good range. I'll definitely need a wide-angle, for landscapes! I'll see how manual sits with me, I believe I have the patience! I'm also liking the cost factor of the majority of them. Anyway, back to the question. Where do you buy your lenses? Especially looking for some places for second-hand. Thanks, Snap

The 35mm f/1.8 is worth looking at from what I hear

Went on a recent trip to the Snowy Mountains and got a few decent shots along the way...

Selling The Kit Lenses, What Should I Replace Them With?
Snap replied to Snap's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Thanks guys I'm looking at the tamron 17-50mm at the moment for about $500. -
Hi everyone, I've been offered $300 for the two kit lenses (without VR) and am pretty happy to sell for that price. Might try and push it up to $350. So now I must decide what to buy with that money. I'm thinking of going for the 35mm f/1.8 for about $350. But keep in mind this would then become my sole lens. Maybe I should save up for a bit and buy something a bit more? It's my birthday soon and I might be able to add about $100 to the lens budget. So I guess what I'm asking is, what should my 'sole lens' be? I don't shoot any particular type of genre so I don't need anything specific. I would just like something fast and preferebly with a larger apperture. Thanks

Too right, I have a stocking but it seems to just tear and let all his hair through anyway lol

Thanks for the tips, will give it a go when I have an extra set of hands, Ollie isn't too keen on it yet.
