  1. Thanks Clyde and Dxenion, I will definitely try your suggestions with encouraging him, and I'll have a look around for that pad toughener. Thanks!
  2. Thanks for your replies everyone, it makes sense. Although he is also walking 'carefully' on concrete, even though he would usually run (I usually try to confine his running to grass though, to protect his joints). However, if I think about it most of the concrete around here has loose bits of gravel so that might be why. Should I just continue walking him and hope that he gets used to it?
  3. No, he was groomed by a professional who didn't mention any nips, but I will check for any just in case.
  4. Hi everyone, My 5 year old cav Ollie recently had an all over clip for summer, his coat is now very short and all his leg and paw feathering is gone. He also had this done last summer and acted normally afterwards. However, this time around he's become very fussy on walks, and will tread very carefully on grass, or outright refuse to walk across grass. Rather than running around like he usually does when off leash, he is walking rather slowly and 'carefully' like he is being precious about his paws. I don't think there is any other explanation for this such as a tick, as he is full of energy while at home. Could he be 'embarrassed' about being clipped? Or are his paws just more sensitive now there isn't any hair around them? Really not sure what the problem is, but was hoping someone on here might have a few suggestions! Thanks in advance Snap
  5. WOW!! I've seen some of those shots around before and would love to give it a try one day. Any photos of your set up?
  6. Thanks bec, the 50mm and me are slowly becoming best friends. Loving your recent portraits too
  7. Thanks so much for the reply Ashanali! Having a look at that group now and getting lots of inspiration!
  8. Hi everyone, A friend asked me to take some photos of her on the beach for her mum's birthday present. I don't have any lighting setup so I'll be using natural light. She's scheduled the 'photo shoot' for about 6:45pm but I'm thinking it might be a better option to start a bit earlier. Any advice will suffice, I've been looking at flickr groups for ideas on poses, composition, styling etc. I'd love to hear any suggestions for DIY reflectors or likewise, if people think it's necessary? TIA!
  9. Quite a few from me today, bare with me! Had a good day down at the beach. It's a shame that flickr really reduces the quality of your images..
  10. I prefer the clean look of the second one, printing black and white will be cheaper too!
  11. A boring one tonight to keep me from falling behind!
  12. Finally had a better look at my photos for day 14 and day 15. Day 14: Day 15:
  13. I took something like 200 photos while on my camping trip and not as many as I hoped had come out well. Turns out one of my lenses is very dusty and I have the shadow of the hood in many shots. Here's one, which could do with some editing.
  14. Bricks... Expect something good (slightly more interesting subject matter) from me on Friday when I get back from a last-minute, quickie camping trip.
  15. Well, you certainly got there huga! That's a fantastic shot and I especially like the toning.
  16. Wow Kate, awesome colours! I keeping hoping I might get photos of something more exciting but haven't been out and about much lately...
  17. Might upload something more creative later but for now, just chillin' ...
  18. Not a fan of baths Great photos from everyone today! Yours is especially cool, FionaC, even if I don't really know what the subject is
  19. Fluffypaws - wow stunning colours! Love the 'pop'! tlc- The water looks divine Some really nice pics, love the freeze frame water droplets. The 50mm can be used for everything! flyingduster- Adorable! She looks almost camouflaged Here's one not-so-happy-chappy..
  20. I'd be happy to give you some feedback tlc! Bare in mind that this is completely subjective and I have absoloutely no expertise! 1. You hear a lot of talk about having catchlights in eyes so that they don't look like black pits lol, maybe that would help here? Otherwise this photo has great contrast and the monotone works great. 2. Love this one! Maybe again, the catchlights could be made more noticable but that's easily done with lightroom or photoshop. I do find that he is slightly off centre, which is a little frustrating 3. This one is great. You may be able to play with the darkness of the background a bit so he can stand out a little more, but otherwise it's fine. 4. I find this one a little flat. It may have been the look you were going for though. 5. Same as number 4 but I do prefer the expression in this. 6. You might want to boost the colour and contrast in this one to make it really 'pop' but otherwise it's a really nice picture. The small white thing on the right is a bit distracting so maybe you could clone it out. It could also do with a bit of brightening up. 7. If you could just boost the contrast between the dog and the background this one would be great. Otherwise I think it's a lovely set and I can really see a consistancy in your editing. Maybe next time you could try playing with the composition more, try some close-ups and get the subject out of the centre. ETA: Sorry, pressed 'send' before I was finished!
  21. I thought with all the talk about processing it's about time we list some of our favourite processing tools I've tried a lot of the free photoshop actions from here: http://browse.deviantart.com/resources/app...ons/psactions/# but I find they don't really work with a lot of my photos. I think kja posted this one before: http://www.gettotallyrad.com/ I downloaded the sample pack and I've used them all, they're fantastic! What does everyone else use?
  22. The 50mm really is a great lens! I've been using it for most of my photos in the January challenge (also been using the phone!). Here's a few that I've posted in the challenge, but it definitely shows this lens's variety:
