Run free Solo - sorry for your loss
-
It must be almost 12 months since I was on Dogz and I come back and find Atlas is gone. I'm so very sorry for your loss - I enjoyed hearing about him and my thoughts go out to you and Kaos.

I've just finished a puppy socialisation class (as a participant) and there was a Lagotto in the class. I've never come across one before and have to say it was the most aggressive of the eight pups in the class who's ages ranged from 9 - 12 weeks. I think the Lagotto was around 10 weeks, and size-wise was about middling compared to the other pups. Not only was she aggressive with the other dogs - very dominant and vocal including snappy and growling; she was the same with people! The only one she was OK with was the trainer - she probably realised she wouldn't get away with anything there. It may have been the owner who was at fault in that regard, or the daughter who was around 10 or 11 and blew hot and cold with the dog - if you know what I mean. Or it could have been the dog's temperament. I don't know, but it put me off the breed. Not to mention the price they paid! Forgot to add she did seem fairly easy to train though and was pretty focussed - when she wasn't picking fights with the others...

no im not a member. what do i need to do to become one? would be helpful though. im going to tomakin in early dec with my girl for some beach time yay Go to www.fosterdogs.org and click the 'join us' link in the top right hand corner. ChinWag is full of information on ARF dogs and doggie stuff in general - but then, I'm biased ;)

Canberra Lakes - Dogs are permitted to swim in most of Canberra's lakes provided they are not within 10 metres of a sign-posted public swimming area. Watch out for the algae in the water though - often the lakes are closed because of this. Rivers - On the Murrumbidgee River dogs are allowed to swim at Uriarra Crossing East; Uriarra Crossing West; Swamp Creek, and the western riverbank of Point Hut Crossing recreational area. And that's it. Are you an ARF member? An article on where to take your dog swimming in Canberra and the South Coast beaches is in the next issue of ChinWag - due early Dec ;)

Thank you for your thoughts. The vet called earlier today and the autopsy showed he had tumours on the liver and spleen. His death was because the spleen ruptured (because of the tumours) and caused massive internal bleeding. The one consolation is that the time of the rupture to his death would only have been about a minute or two and the vet said he probably would have fainted before he died so would have been out to any pain. He did collapse, and by the time I got to him (only about a minute) and held his head he was gone. The house is so very quiet without him. He certainly lived life full-on and it's hard to believe he won't come careering around the corner knocking over everything in his path and leaving a minor earthquake behind him, or taking a flying leap from the door onto the bed. He was very special and we will miss him.

Jack, Mr Jackson, Jacko - our special boofhead I can't believe it - you only turned 6 on Wednesday and we planned a party for tomorrow. No party now. So sudden, so soon. We came back from the shops to find you unwell. You didn't want your dinner. Later in the afternoon you came to us: to sit with us because I think you knew. An hour later you were gone. I still can't believe it. You were our special boy; the joker in the pack. We will miss you so much but Stryker will look after you. Sleep well sweetheart - we love you. Gracie send a kiss.

Gorgeous pup Yes they are now in their forever home, with two other dogs, lots of chooks and couple of older primary schoolers to keep them occupied.
-
Hadn't thought of Koolie, but the pups are from Delegate - now in Murrumbateman.
-
They were rescued from Delegate - not sure if a property or not, but yes country NSW. They are now living on a property at Murrumbateman.

thanks - unfortunately only got the one photo I thought BC or maybe Aussie. We've now checked out the Aussie site and this pup looks sooo like them - even down to the blue eyes. I think they're about 10 weeks, but they could be a week or two either side?? One M one F. They are now on 160 acres in Murrumbateman, so they'll be able run to their hearts content
