Dumb Question Re Hip Scoring And Breed Average
2psinapod replied to angelsophie's topic in Breeders Community
The Vet at Heatherbrae (sp?) does hip scores -
My whitening shampoo is the easiest ever! Because I have non-coated breeds, I don't have to worry so much about differing textures etc. So, any old family (read cheap ;) ) shampoo to fill a 1Lt bottle with half a bottle of Blue-o mixed in, if at any time the shampoo I'm using causes dandruff, which of course looks fantastic on Black or Liver patches 1 part Listerine to 20 parts water in a spray bottle and smoothed over with a cloth, it is the best quick fix for it NB: Listerine MUST be the original, not the green one!

Yep agree with all Nevafollo has said, Pointee's have an 'Off Switch' and are happy being at what ever level of stimulation is around them, personally, I think they are the most laid back of all the Gundogs they don't have anxiety issues that a lot of the other breeds have and are extremely gentle with kids Ok, so it's from my website, but it may help

I start my guys off with Royal Canin Starter, I put it in a 'Bullet Blender' thingie and crush/mush/blend until it's a crunchy powder, I mix with Bio-Lac and serve as a sloppy porridge from about 3 weeks, to begin with they kind of just lap the milk out of it and Mum cleans the rest up, as the days/weeks progress I make the Starter coarser and less milk until I'm am not crushing it at all and they are getting it dry, then I introduce fresh meats later once they are content with eating dry.

If they'd allowed it, her first litter's theme would have been easy .... Dog Tired, Dog Gone, Dogs Life, Gone to the Dogs She ended up being 'Mary Christmas', but she was born on the 25/12 so it was ok
-
Yet they wouldn't allow me "Sweet Mary Mother of Dog"

There are plenty of breeds with a much higher prey drive than Sighthounds

Want A Dog, But Need Help Choosing A Breed.
2psinapod replied to jebee's topic in General Dog Discussion
I would say a Greyhound, for every reason that everyone else has given or a Pointer A Pointer would be happy to go for the exercise time you have allotted and they are real lounge lizards the rest of the time, they do not suffer with separation anxiety like most of the other pointing breeds can (Viszla, GSP, Weims etc.) they're fantastic with kids and if they're brought up with cats, there's no problem there either, in fact as I was reading your post, Pointers ticked every box You can have a look at my website if you're not familiar with the breed, on there you will also find links back to here on discussions etc. -
Not sure if I agree with this just because someone has a pedigreed entire dog does not entitle them to start breeding.... Who are any of us to judge and not allow her though? *shrugs* At least if she does want to do it, she can be steered in the right direction. Either she will see it's not as simple as she imagined and just stop with the idea, or she will study and get some knowledge, training, testing on her dog and do things the right way. IF she bought from an ethical registered breeder, well it's up to the ethical registered breeder of the dog to JUDGE and ALLOW for the dog to be bred!!! My guess is it came from a Registered Backyardie, sadly, plenty of them around too, I mean really, who in their right mind would say to a pet puppy buyer "He would be great for showing or breeding" unless they were just trying to 'seal the deal' and why does your SIL have such strong thoughts on putting him out to stud, I dare say because this so called 'breeder' had no contract in place when the puppy left entire, nor were there any lengthy discussions on the importance of desexing and why the Hell do it go to a pet home on Main anyway??!!??

Anyone who has attended Dorrigo shows, know it's a hoot with Bingo and a Sausage Sizzle on the Saturday night. Well this year the Club is putting on an Enormous Auction on the Saturday night as well, with all proceeds going to Dogs Qld for the Flood appeal. With in excess of 80+ items kindly donated by varying businesses throughout the areas, from jewellery to dog items, gourmet hampers to fish tanks, electrical goods to camping gear, anyone who is joining the fun, be sure to bring your smile, good spirits and your cheque book

You can enter a dog the Judge has bred, providing it is NOT in their name at all and they have not seen it for a minimum of six months. As jr_inoz said, if the dog is in their name or in partnership then NO you can not even show the dog in another Group. Personally, I would never enter under the breeder at all.

In all honesty, I've only used it a couple of times, but for the price, you can't go past it! Seriously, it has the metal pole thingies at the top of the frame for stability, yep, I reckon it's awesome

This is the one I have that is HUGE

I have been reading this whole thread from the start to the end, just hanging to suggest the same jolly thing as Benshiva!!!! Why can't the ANKC do a decent ad campaign I really wish it was like the old days, just under the ANKC rather than different State bodies, each State seems to have their own set of rules on varying things, I think it should just be one governing body and while they're at it ....... have the admin staff at least know one end of dog from the other as opposed to the clerks they have that don't even own dogs let alone be in the Show World. But, alas, gone are the days of volunteers too
-
Shame Reb, I have 2 here I would have given you I bought one of the 4XL of the OP type and holey crap!!! It is huge, extremely comfortably fit 2 Pointees in there, hell, I reckon I could almost put another 5 in there too if I had to

Whippets aren't always timid, people will be fooled and think they are timid when really, to strangers they show disdain at anyone approaching them "How very dare you talk or try to touch me when I have not given you permission!" :D And of course it is how they are brought up. They are awesome little guys and yes Showdog is right, they can be as tough as boots! Whippets here will play rough and tumble with Pointers and more often than not, the Whippet will pull the pointer down and they drop them with a thud! They love their people and are extremely devoted, but to strangers in the house, they need to know them before they give them the courteousy of their company

And everyone on DOL or FB if you are doing updates on there I had a litter with 3 pups arriving on Christmas Day and another 3 on Boxing Day, so they were reg on Christmas Day and nice to have a Christmas theme happening, but you can bet your life when anyone comments on their names and I explain the litter was a Christmas Day whelp, either one of my boys, without fail, will pipe up with "But wasn't XXX born on Boxing Day?" :D

Just a heads up, the roads are cut at Bendemeer apparently
