Flite looks lovely. And smells oh so pretty. Yeah eastlink is really easy. You'll love it. From flips end of town to mine in about 40 minutes
-
Yeah we are still on for tomorrow, you could have just called and asked! Eastlink is great, only took me about 40 minutes to get up the other day and even less to get back. Although it mite suck more when i have to pay for it. Where is warragul? Any idea roughly how long it would take to get there from frankston?

Does anyone else know of places to do herding workshops or training? Anyone know of any coming up? We are happy to do it as a group if it works out cheaper that way?
-
After i turned Flite into a giraffe neck i did Romi too. Little girl was so clean and gorgeous. And then i woke up this morning and she was under my house, Barking right under my bed ;) :p Guess who is now black from head to toe?? And the bath i gave Belle is ruined cos she has been wreastling with Romi too. Not happy Jan!!!! Bloody Borders! If we catch up and sell our "things" and those pics on ebay Flip can just give you the dvd's and we won't have to worry about sending them. We need to catch up and have some I say fishbowls all round. No uno though ;) When do you guys have free? For herding and for drinking? We can all stay here or at Flips place.
-
Yep he's a giraffe neck again. Yeah you need to text Flip again with your address so that he can send the dvd to you. He'll probably send you sparty's too so that you can pass it on to her.

It would be great if you could post when the next one is comiing up. It'd be good to see if Belle could work the bigger more stubbourn sheep. Flip recorded the herding we did with David and gave me the dvd of belle working. In the beginning you can see she is just sort of chasing and seeing what happens but by the end of it she has settled down and is actually working the sheep. It's great to watch. A huge thanks to Flip for spending so much time taping and burning the dvd's. It came out great

That sounds pretty cool. I'd like to do one of the all weekend workshops. We travel all over the place for flyball so why not for herding. It'd be good to get Belle working hard, although maybe she needs a couple more lessons with the easy sheepers first. She's only young and has only been once. If any of the herding weekends come up does anyone post about them on here?
-
I'm taking very good care of them. They are all freshly bathed and stripped out and look very very sexy. Oh and you aren't getting them back. They are mine, all mine i tells yah

Yes but in those few hours you earn as much as i do in a week!!! Now that you've got rid of that "excess baggage" all the money should be dontated to the "Got Sheep" fund. We'll make it tax deductable........ The 'Got Sheep?' fund needs work i think, needs sheep and $$$s and somehwere to keep said sheep . One day though it will happen. If Harri can learn Flyball and to bring the ball back to me, anyone or anydog can learn Flyball . RachelleBuck, do you have anymore info on the club at Elmore? The "Got Sheep" fund will grow very quickly if we sell out "things" on ebay clover ;) ;) Plus if Flip donates all his money to our fund we can buy lots of sheepers and lots of land. The elmore place sounds pretty good, it's a long way to go from frankston though. Do they do workshops or only training??
-
Well Flip if you have lots of extra cash you can always dontate it to the buy sheepers and live closer together fund that Clover and I are starting. That way your hard earned money will go to a great cause!!! And i'm sure we'll let you use our sheepers for practising.

Is there a website for the Sarasota dogs? I'd love to have a look if there is.
-
I'm not sure what class it was. It was pretty late in the day on saturday. Probably around 4pm. I saw this particular dog working on the 3 sheep where they had to go through the barriers set up along the fence lines before they ended up with the sheep in the far right corner. The dog worked really nice and calmly. It was amazing how much it looked like my girl. Belle is a rescue so it is always interesting to see dogs that look like her, especially when people are always telling me she's a bloody cross breed!!!

I'm up for as much herding as i can afford to do. Belle might do flyball one day but she is no where near as enthused about it as Bear plus i have the issue of trying to get her to training each week so that she can get a level 2 pass and it's really hard around work. Flip i'm sure you'll stop being bored with flyball as soon as we compete again. It's just a really long wait with the geelong one getting rained out.

Belle had a go in the paddock but it overwhelmed her a little bit. Elvis rocked out in the paddock. I watched some of the herding nationals today and seriously Clover you HAVE to trail with him. He'll kick arse!!! I think i'll have to check out the southern herding. Does anyone on here do it? I wanna know if the trainers are any good. How far is warrigal from frankston? I work alot of sundays so it's hard even getting to flyball at 1 but depending on distance maybe i can do both some sundays. Herding with belle n flyball with bear. Dog sport addict i think. After watching some of the herding today i'm sure flitey will settle down and work. There were dogs out there today who were easily as "keen" as him.
-
Yeah i think watching those dogs just fueled my addiction and gave me something to aspire to. I saw a lady who i believe was from tassie who worked a corgie and a lovely tri colour border on sheep quite late in the day, anyone know who the border is? It's a dead ringer for my girl.

Flite tackled herding the same way he does flyball, hard, fast and with great enthusiam. David said he had some good moves and by the end of the day he was moving with alot more control. He is only young after all and we all know boys mature much slower than girls Yeah i'd really like to get into training. Where is Elmore? I don't think i have heard of it. What is there training like? Is it open to anyone or only koolies? And the price if you dont mind me asking? Does anyone know of anywhere that does herding training over the south east side of town? I'm in the frankston area. David is great but i wondered if there was anywhere i could practise my belles found skills on this side of town
-
See i knew if we begged Clover would come good with the photos Gamby i know what you mean about the rake!!! Damn thing is so hard to get the hang of, David makes it all look so easy and Jeff's dog Rosie makes the whole herding thing look like a positve breeze. I aspire to have a dog that works that well. Janba, I think i'm gonna turn into a hard core herding addict. Who knows it might even *GASP* take over my flyballing. Although maybe only once Bear retires. All us herding addicts need to buy some sheepies so we can practise all the time. AHHHH bliss Maybe the herding switched Belle's little brain on because she even managed her first ever full flyball run a couple of days later. Although i must admit it may possibly be Flip's persistance with her too. Clover El and Tinny were amazing. Elvis made it all look so easy and Tinny was so totally laid back she looked like she was moving in slow motion. You should be very proud of them both. BTW i love that picture of Romi, gorgeous little face.

Last saturday I got together with Clover, Flip and Sparty and our 6 border collies and did a herding workshop run by David and Jeff from 4 paws K9 training. It was totally awesome!!! :nahnah: David was kind enough to run the workshop with just our dogs which was great since they all get along together and it ment we got plenty of time with the sheepies. My rescue border Belle astounded me with how quick she picked it up. I'm so very very proud of her. She can be such a ditz at home but once she was in with the sheep she calmed down and her natural instincts kicked it. It was her first time on sheep and she still has a long way to go but she's only young. I'm very interested in the herding though so hopefully i can fit herding in around flyball and maybe one day i can trial her. A massive thanks to David, the workshop was fun and informative and we learnt alot. Although i'm not sure how complimentry it was to be the "bitch" for the over and back practise, even if i am apparenly a "bitch worth breeding from" Very relaxed atmosphere and easy people to talk to. Now the problem..... I wanna go again......NOW!!! Hmmmm where can i get some sheepies for practise.......Here sheepie sheepie. Definatly addictive, nothing better than watching your dog do exactly what it was bred for and doing it well. Now to go beg clover for some piccies.... her photograhy is ever so good.....suck, suck, suck

We'll be there. Bear is raring to go and with any luck a certain giant white dog will get his onyx this weekend. Fingers crossed

Flyball At Ballarat This Weekend
menacebear replied to Sparty's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
It was great to be back. Totally hectic weekend wih our teams running against each other or back to back pretty much all the time but it was alot of fun and everyone chipped in to help. Thanks for the compliments on Bear, i always said i'd be happy if he could run a 4.5 one day and then he goes and runs 3 4.3's in ONE heat!!! So proud of him as he didn't break 5 seconds once in the 2 days and was still full of energy by the end of the weekend. And speaking of energy GO Jamacia! Back down to 4.2's and totally full of himself. Great to see him back in fine form and his little brother Flite didnt put a paw wrong all weekend. And a gigantic thanks to Clover, without your help our dogs would have been late in the ring every time. Looking forward to seeing you all at geelong. -
If I could afford it then I would definatly be there but thats a pretty big IF. For a new team of inexperienced dogs and handlers who have never used the EJS i think they did great! We all know how scary it can be to run just one new dog on a team but a whole team of them....a thumbs up to them. Excellent effort from dogs and handlers.

thankyou, Astroboy 2 for clearing things up. I did know some of the details but things change and i wasn't 100% sure it was still going ahead. Looking forward to the comp, not very often we have 2 day ones in victoria. ETA-Note to self, stop using DOL at work and if the boss walks in hide your post, don't submit it. It tends to be missing what you were actually typing.

So when you say they are getting marries who do you mean? Where did you hear that?

I cant speak for a pure GSD but Bear is a rottweiler x GSD and he runs in division 1 for the western weiners and LOVES his flyball. He runs an average of around 5.2 sec but can go under 5....if he feels like it. Jamicia is AMAZING, he is even taller than bear and yet runs consistantly at around 4.4-4.5 sec which is at least as fast as any working breed out there. Of course if your looking for a medium sized, amazingly smart and pretty flyball, agility or herding dog then you can't go past my border collie foster belle She's 8 months old and a tri colour working border collie. Anyone at all looking for another sports dog let me know, she is awesome but the landlords are NOT keen
