I havent seen it posted before, must have been under a rock I loved it - would love to have a go with my girls but dont think they would show that much restraint - also Flute drools Thanks for the share off to post it on FB.

I ended up finishing it last night. I LOVED it. Just superb. Melbomb PM your email address and ill send you the kindle version. Ive sent it out to a few people now, hope they all enjoy it as much as i did. Its just so how i imagine my dog thinks Specially in regards to the cats!

Written by W. Bruce Cameron. I'm about halfway through it after starting it this morning and loving it. Written from the point of view of a dog it's funny, sad and engrossing. Obviously this guy really knows dogs. I have it in ebook if any kindles would like to give it a go I need your email address :D Anyone read it and what did you think?

I would also suggest if the dog Is doing it out of boredom giving him some things to do and supply something he can chew on. If he's just a pup he might be teething? I used to give my girls chilled carrots for the teething and then I'll give them loads of stuff to do whilst I'm not home. In summer I'll make up a soup stock with some bits if meat and stuff and freeze it in a kong, scatter some treats round the yard and lots of toys ( which I rotate to maintain interest). Good idea on the pen though!

That's really cool KM! I'm glad they worked out

Problem is though if someone was going to steal your dog I'm sure that having a collar in wouldn't stop them, wouldn't they just take it off? I see what your saying though, your average Joe good citizen may keep a dog without a collar morseso then one with. I am lucky there aren't many of my breed around and only one other that I know of here (I get stupid excited when I see another one :D) so if mine do get out and were not scanned most people in my rural area would know who owns them, the dog catcher knows them and loves them (from rescue work and training not through escape).

I started a thread about this earlier this week, such a bargain and really heavy duty, they were on $2 for the smaller ones and $3.50 for the big ones here though Here is a photo comparison between it and a scoff stopper, the SS is deeper and has additional bumps on the bottom, but both my girls are using them successfully, I do get greasy looks on rice night though
-
X 2 in the past I have known lost dogs to be found lying on a jumper purposefully left behind. Good luck, I'm sure your beside yourself
-
Ok here is a photo in comparison to the scoff stopper, it's actually made out of thicker plastic then the scoff stopper, heavier but not as deep. Seems to work on my two greedy guts anyhow.

Sienna will wait until we are sitting down to dinner and run to the front door in full "someone's here" mode, then whilst you are checking goes bouncing back into the lounge to "clean up" discarded dinner. If I'm having "Flute time" Sienna will rummage around in the toy box until she finds a suitable toy and then commence flinging it round the lounge until Flute goes and plays with it. Then shell come and climb in my lap and sit there looking at a bewildered Flute

That's gold. I was amazed at the price, thought they would be flimsy plastic, but they are pretty heavy duty aren't they. Oh and no worries, gotta share the bargains :D

There was a devastating story here on DOL once where someone came home and lost one and very nearly another dog by hanging from the collar. Just devastating. Mine are naked at home, however I do know that there are breakaway collars that are designed to snap off when snared. GK your new boy sounds like a real character, I'm glad you found his escape route though, is there anything more scary then realizing one of your dogs is missing
-
That was my thoughts as well They aren't as deep as the scoff stopper but the girls used them last night and they seemed to still work fairly well. I'll get a photo today
-
Even the smaller ones I saw would have been no good for our JRT nose is too small We are lucky though he isn't a bolter. Works ok for our two big girls though

Here we have the rare rainbow shouted pointers The Easter bunny Superpup

This is our pack sans ring in Beagle Omg I forgot about cheesy home photoshoot ETA- geriatric ring in Beagle who complained of being left out..... Yes that would be glue on his snout from shredding 10kg of bread flour in the house

Not a breeder, but my breeder chose for me. She also made sure I knew exactly what I was getting and gave us the opportunity to rethink several times as Flute got older .... And bolder! She let us know from the start that Flute was the first to be born, the first one out of the whelping box, the first outside, the first .... Well you get the picture! We were an experienced GSP home so she felt comfortable sending us the Tazzie Devil that is Flute We were happy to let the breeder choose as she knew us from lots of communication and she new the pups so well. :D Sienna chose me, out of 14 pups she marched up to me at sat at my feet staring up at me ( at the time we were there as my other friend was getting a pup), I paid a deposit on the spot. Came back a week later and she came bowling over as though shed missed me and then tried to scramble in the car Unfortunately Sienna was purchased from a BYB before I knew about such things. I have been lucky health wise and both her parents were papered dogs and I wouldn't swap her for the world, but knowing what I know now, never again would I buy from anyone but a registered ethical breeder

Just thought I'd share the bargain I found today, The Reject Shop has the slow feeder bowls with the raised bumps, similar to scoff stoppers, for $2.50 for the small ones and $3 for the large. They are good heavy duty plastic as well I know there have been a few threads about them in the past, so thought I'd share :D

GSP's and beaches they love it dont they! Your lads are an absolute credit to you and just rippling with health! We have to get the girls and the lads together for a beach visit one day for 100% mayhem! It must be a young dog things, Flute likes to wait until Sienna brings out the toy too and then takes off with it! Great photos Fi thanks for sharing!

We had this issue once. Our two bitches after a year or two of being best friends started to behave aggressively, they then had a fight which would have been fatal to one or both if we had not intervened. That was about three years ago. We managed through separation and when the aggression began to die down started to integrate (crates near each other). After an extremely long process we now have a very happy pack again with three bitches all together. We are always watchful for aggressive signs and any signs of dominant play sees that dog excluded from the pack, on their own outside. For the past year there has been peace and harmony. Of course that is our situation and what worked for us may not work for anyone else, it was also a long hard road. We are damn happy with the outcome though. Do these dogs get enough exercise? That can be a MAJOR influence.

Oh that's a regular occurrence since the Geriatric Beagle came to town ... whenever we forget to put the bin up. You want destruction ... get a GSP! Most recently it was the two usual suspects in the great bread mix hiest Flute is all ears when she hears a wrapper of any kind Her bizarre toothbrush fetish (to the point where she now knows how to open the bathroom drawer) and who can forget the pappa san chair murder of 08 All our other dogs are angels compared to Flute, ive given up keeping a list of things she has eaten, her favorites are those crocheted coat hangers (that no one really knows where they come from), toothbrushes, lip gloss and on one particular occasion hair removal cream. Let me tell you that led to a very panicked, embarrassing call to my vet which he has yet to let me forget about Ill have to remember to take photos of the carnage more often.

Gayle my heart aches for you and all the other DOLers who have lost a treasured one. I wish i had words of peace to ease your grief, just know that the weight you feel in your heart now is the extent you loved your beloved hairy friend, you can bet they know that and are watching over you now. As i look around my lounge to the two basking in the late afternoon sun in the window two on the couch and one in front of the fire i feel very blessed. It can all change in an instant. I strive in a million ways to create daily memories and take a million photos, if one of them comes over whilst i am on the computer i will always put it down for a chat, a pat, a hug or even a game,i dont ever want to regret not having that moment because i was to engrossed with something else. That said nothing makes it easier when they move on to the bridge without us.
