  1. Its because its posted in Off Topic and you need 150 posts to access it
  2. Nope not at all. Teebs was concerned that people might not be able to access the thread as it is in Off Topic and you need 150 posts to get in. Happy for you to round up so SAliens! We had people from NSW, VIC and even a super Tassie Doler last year
  3. Yes my friend used to use the B calm on her horses as well before a big show. It used to work really well for one of her mares and no affect at all on the second - funny they were full sisters
  4. My top two would be Socialization and the second is really tough for me I tye between no food aggression and recall. Yes i teach these things from the get go.
  5. She'd be perfect for you, loves LOVES horses, loves GSPs :p All the spins I know are really wonderful in temperament, just lovely dogs, If only I were allowed a few more................ :D :D Dont worry chalked up on the list of "one day" breeds :D
  6. Monah i am quite taken with your Spinone , every time i see your signature i fall in love all over again!
  7. Oh dear - more tears, Just delightful that he has such a happy ending.
  8. Flute is a drooler - i cant believe it, never had a drooler before and i didnt think that GSP's drooled! It starts with the bubbles and then a small trickle will break away and it becomes a steady river from either side, no froth just pristine clear saliva
  9. Oh thank you, that is just such a lovely offer. I would take you up on it but i went ahead and purchased one already. Thank you very much though, DOLers are just so generous.
  10. Good advice - thank you. She is crated for about half an hour prior to dinner and we started feeding her alone as soon as the behavior commenced. It has us stumped, none of our dogs are FA and they have eaten in the same pattern for about a year and a half then out of the blue she started to gulp, cough and choke her dinner down. I am fairly confident i can extinguish this behavior but if i have to be away for a night i want to know she will be safe when someone else feeds her.
  11. YAY! Thank you guys - for the life of me i couldn't find them!
  12. Thats gold! Its funny i found my breed by accident, i met my puppy when helping someone else pick her puppy. We now have three GSP's and although i have many breeds on my one day list i will ALWAYS have a GSP by my side.
  13. Does anyone know where to find the bowls that assist dogs not to bolt food? Sienna has very recently (in the last few weeks) started bolting her dinner. She is the only one of the four dogs that has started it, nothing in the feeding schedule or regime has changed so we are unsure as to what has caused it. We have tried various things to prevent this and at the moment we are currently hand feeding her dinner to her so that she cant do it (i know its rarer in GSP's but im still paranoid about bloat and other things associated with bolting food). We will of course work long term towards extinguishing this behavior - however does anyone know where you can find these type of bowls in Australia? Im not sure what they are called and have only found them in America so far.
  14. Oh goodness me - i only just saw this. I am so glad that he got the retirement he deserves. If only there was a way to prevent the previous owners from ever having a pet again. The photo of him with your little girl brought a tear to my eye Tigerlily he looks so happy and at home. He really must have just know as soon as he got to your place that he was safe. I couldnt bare to think of the alternative ending to this story. A million thank yous to all involved. :o And indeed to those rescue angels that week after week do the hard yards and go the extra mile to ensure that others like Wolf get the chance at life they deserve. I know i only go into the rescue threads when i have some spare cash or a spare foster space in the house because i can not bare it. There are those who are always there for these guys - you know who you are - and you have my eternal gratitude.
  15. I stumbled across GSP's by accident, i will never not have one now . Honestly GSP's can be hard work IF you don't keep them stimulated, that can either be excerise or training or better still a combination of both. We have three GSP's here at the moment. They are very active, but total lounge lizards too provided they get enough stimulation. We live on a small farm so when i am outside so are my two girls, they orbit around me and spend lots of time swimming, sniffing and running around with each other. They are VERY loyal and although they can be enthusiastic they can be taught to be gentle round kids. My two girls turn into such gentle, careful souls around my two godsons - when the youngest was still a baby Sienna would sit at the bedroom door and come get me any time he cried They are very strong and can be challenging and willful but if you put in the appropriate amount of effort IMO (i know you asked for unbiased, but its hard not to be ) there is no better dog . Come join the GSP thread to find out more. How can you resist this Or this Or even this Look into my eyes and say you dont want to squdge me ... Then they grow up to this: Ok, ok i know you didnt ask for photos but ... its hard to stop once you start Get a GSP - you wont regret it.
  16. Thanks guys and thanks Linda K - CC always welcome. It was very impromptu we set up on top of a crate with a couple of white blankets, the light all together wasnt the best and was frustrating me at the time . I will have a play with them and see how they come up.
