I Made A Would Be Adopter Cry
bazilybazbaz replied to a topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
phew, I was getting depressed until I saw your post powerlegs! Rehoming a rescue dog is more about making a good match otherwise the dog may bounce back. We work hard getting our rescue dogs ready for adopted so I'm definitely going to try to choose the right home whatever that takes. However, I would never give someone the impression they weren't suitable and I always return calls and emails the same day or the next day at the latest. In fact tonight I had to tell two people their home wasn't right for my fosterdog but it was done tactfully and respectfully. I got a lovely email back from one of the people wishing me and my foster dog the best of luck. -

Good luck and best wishes, Andrea :) -
Kelsey is still missing and in the area I live! I did a drive around this morning but nothing. There are posters up everywhere so hoping they work like they did for you dogmad . Her carer is devastated.

I agree with everyone above. It's important, very important, that we take care of ourselves. I got my westie after many years of wanting one and although it doesn't limit my fostering too much I still would have done it. I didn't foster for 6 months so I could focus on him (and my other two dogs). If you do get your lovely breed dog enjoy it and be careful not to worry about the dogs you can't physically rescue. Tdierikx said it "you would still be an incredible resource to Pei rescue even if you don't take as many into your own personal care."

you're right k9angel, last night I hardly slept and a few others before. Thank you so much Emma, an angel indeed. We tested Ned while at the the Queanbeyan pound and we thought he was a lovely senior dog who still has a zest for life. He was good on lead, could sit and drop on command. Ned also appeared to be trained to go to his bed/mat. He was good with other dogs (although we learned later he wasn't good with a dog in the (very brief) home he went to). We worked with him a few times and he was always well behaved, however at times you got the feeling that he was in a polite way, controlling what was going on. Overall during the couple of hours we were there he was calm and well-behaved. -

fantastic Decadence. How beautiful they are and thank you again for giving them a wonderful home. Shame no one realised they were male and female during their time at the pound but they're in good hands now thank goodness. Thank you for the update and lovely photos. -

Joog originally came from Queanbeyan pound and I remember him being a lovely boy. -
So sorry for your loss. It's so painful when we lose them, they just give so much. What a beautiful tribute to your beautiful girl. RIP Tara.

thanks everyone, hard to believe a year has gone by. Boronia, that was thoughtful of you thinking of Baz and Cruise. I agree, Sarah losing Cruise like that must have been devastating. He was so young and such a great show dog already. Your banner always makes me smile, I love it!

one year today we lost our beautiful boy. How time passes but we'll never ever forget him. His name was Basil but we always called him bazily or baz or bazzy!! He was a clever intelligent dog who excelled at everything we taught him and to think he was dumped at the pound all those years ago. Miss you so much Bazzy.
