Chicken Carcass Frames How To Feed?
Crits'N'Bits replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
we have an old fashioned butchers cleaver and I use this to cut up the frames into 3 pieces. I am finding its easier to cut them while they are frozen. we feed out 10 per day ... so I needed to find a system that works well. trying to encourage the cats to eat the frames as well - so this involves cutting each of the 3 pieces even smaller. our dogs range in size from greyhound, whippet - to JRT -
RIP little fella so sorry for your loss

Feeding For Cancer/colitis
Crits'N'Bits replied to violetmay's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
We are currently living the big C nightmare too My boy is now having (and will continue to have for the rest of his life): Budwig once a day (cottage cheese/flaxseed oit) Essiac tea - as often as possible - I mix it with his other food. He seems to seek this out so just wondering if its the herbs in it that he is after. Of everything this seems to be his favorite Apricot seed (ground up - only start with half a seed and now we've built it up to 2 seeds per day. They have to be the bitter ones 1 egg per day - yolk runny with white cooked chicken - I boil up a whole chicken and then cut off all the meat. He wont eat it raw. Beef - I buy a blade roast and cut it up into chunks ( maybe not for your guy yet) I've cut out any grains period. He also gets beef bones offered to him - if he wants it good - if not the other dogs have it On the days he hasn't seemed interested in food I cut it up really fine and added the chicken broth and essiac to it - and feed it to him off a spoon or hand it to him bit by bit. Thankfully we've only had 2 days like that. Currently he is eating really well and bouncing around like a young one again ! I swear by the essiac tea though - it seems to be doing what its meant too. Have a read up about baking soda and dmso / and baking soda and maple syrup - you may find it useful. I am alternating both treatments. The dmso seems to help relieve any pain. But its purely a personal choice on that one !! I am really sorry you and Scuffy have to go through this - its a really horrible situation. Best wishes for you both -
But the past is not the past really in regards to pain and unneccesary suffering caused by incompetence. Pain and tolerance is one thing. Recovery from major surgery is not the only thing on Coopers mind. He wont forget the pain in his scrotum area for some time to come. Yes .. I agree with that 110% .. and hopefully those responsible will be accountable for their action. However, what is important now is that Cooper gets through it all - and its good to hear he is starting to feel better
-
great to hear he is slightly more comfortable - I was thinking about him all last night ... was also wondering why they hadn't treated it before he left Melbourne Anyhooo .. the past is the past ... its now time for Cooper to get better and better each day until he is his normal bouncy self :) Lots of puppy hugs and positive vibes being sent to one little black GSD .... get well soon Cooper :D xxx

for some temporary relief a icepack or wet flannel may help to get the heat out of it he may be too upset though for you to be able to put it on him i feel so sorry for you both
-
has he settled at all?
-
ohh Bianca ... you poor thing would it be worth ringing the AH number at the vet - he may need some IV pain relief
-
poor little boy - I am speechless ... I wonder if something like acupuncture would help relieve the pain as well as the pain meds ? Hope he gets some relief soon
-
ohhh Bianca - so sorry to hear he is having such a crappy time I dont blame you for being so pissed off at the specialist hospital - it should NOT have happened but at least the pain relief should start kicking in soon - hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for you both. Hugs to Cooper xxxx

Hope Cooper is feeling a bit more comfortable today - poor boy

Ripley, I am so sorry - she was beautiful and sounded like she was a real little character RIP sweet Millie

my worry with curash would be that it may dry it out too much ???? I wonder if an ice pack may help relieve it a little???

wow ... such beautiful photos, so full of emotion and tastefully taken. I love exploring old cemeteries - its a great way to get an idea about the history of a town or village. Many of the first lot of photos remind me of our little local cemetery - its quite unique in its own way - with horses wandering around where 2 of the original graves are. There a some really lovely little church cemeteries in Tassie - I spent hours wandering around them (yeah . .... I know I am weird :D ) The same in England, Wales and Ireland - they are sooooo full of history

Yay Cooper .. so glad your home. Bianca , just a thought , but could you section off a corner of a room by using 3 or 4 screen doors ( you can pick them up at the tip shop fairly cheaply) - we may even have a couple here. That way he can still see you but is confined. -

We are currently fighting the cancer battle with one of our whippets. I have done a lot of reading about DMSO, essiac tea, sodium bicarbonate, budwig protocol. And now implementing our own regime. Might be worth having a look at these for your guy too. I can fully understand how your feeling - as that's where I am too Try and keep positive. Hugs to you both
