  1. Probably a long shot, but wondering whether any dog/cat owners here have experienced adverse reactions to flea treatment. We lost our lovely NF cat today - and at a loss to know why. It was so quick. Vet thinks maybe a blood clot due to bruising over her body. She went very suddenly - abit off color yesterday but still eating. This morning very lethargic and unwell. Straight into vet by 8:30. She responded to IV fluids then suddenly crashed - and it was all over. The only thing we can really think of that could be connected was that we had treated them all with Advocate on Monday. (We usually use Advantage - and never had a reaction). Would be interested to hear if anyone has had reactions to treatments ..
  2. We used Dogtainers 6 weeks ago when our whippet puppy flew from Sydney to Melbourne. Costs: $150 including crate hire (which is what we went with) or $110 flight only. No dramas at all
  3. oooohhhh ... some DOL dogs coming to town on the weekend Is it being held at the grounds in Lucknow ???? Will try and get over - especially to see the whippies :) EDITED: if any of you are staying over for the weekend and you want to give your dogs a run you are more than welcome to come over to the farm ... plenty of running space for the puppies
  4. Hi guys, What a great weekend it was at Dinner Plain. The dogs were just brilliant:) - and even Mother Nature put on a show! But, on a sadder note, just wondering if any of you know how the guy is who was involved in the accident on Sunday? The whole thing happened in front of us and I actually have it on my video. I hope he is ok. Apart from that it looked as if everyone had a ball.
  5. Casper is gorgeous :) ... congrats - I hope the next 2 weeks goes quickly for you :D
  6. Great! Thanks so much for that ! Hopefully will see some DOLers up there:)
  7. Hi all, can anyone tell me when Dinner Plain have sledding comps. We always seem to miss going up there - and this year definately want to go up for a look - seeing we are only a few hours away from DP. Cheers!
  8. some very interesting reading in this thread hope everyone with new puppies are enjoying themselves - and those still waiting - I hope the time will go quickly for you :) Little Finn has settled in really well - he is already part of the pack. Poppy, my 8 year old JRT, has taken on a new lease of life with this pesky puppy around. She adores him. I have noticed that every day he seems more relaxed and settled and getting even more confident about things. So many new things to learn since arriving on Saturday night - but he is taking every thing in his stride. Here is a pic I just took of Pop and Finn - he is totally tuckered out after a big day of playing ! and of course, his choice of bed ... a box ! So much for his fancy little bed we brought for him ! lol
  9. He's absolutely gorgeous, I confess I'm not sure of the breed as I haven't been following the thread but I could hazard a guess  Finn is a little whippet :) first night went really well. He seems to have settled in nicely. Only had 2 trips outside overnight - OH did the 2am and I did the 6am (which is my usual wake up time anyway so no real problem). He has had a great morning of exploring - meeting the horses, running around the paddocks, exploring the hay and machinery sheds. Lots of new smells and interesting things to investigate  also having to jump over the wet grass - following OH around the farm like his little shadow. The other dogs seem to be tolerating him quite nicely.. Tomorrow may be hard on him as we both have to go to work - but he can access the house from the yard he will be in (and he will have doggie company) so hopefully things will turn out ok. Currently he is fast asleep on the couch - after a very busy morning  Another couple of pics of our baby whippet ...
  10. thanks guys :) .. he is just sooooo cute  of course I cant get anywhere near him since his new daddy has got super possessive - I said to OH on the way down that I gave him 12 hours to become obsessed with Finn ... I was wrong ... it took about 30 minutes
  11. We are home ! Plane was delayed so we had to wait an another hour, but finally we got to cuddle our little Finn :D. Then another 4 hour car trip and home so here is "daddy's boy" .. He is the sweetest little boy - we love him to bits already :D
  12. Envy is very cute :) Tikira - you will know in your heart the right time - and the right puppy will come into your life. Well, bed time here - but too excited to sleep! Early start in the morning with a 4 hour drive to airport and the another 4 hours to come back home. Flight is due in at 12:35 so hopefully it won't be delayed. Hope my little Finn is not to scared and overwhelmed by it all . It's a lot for a baby to take in for one day ... Leaving his family, flying, and then meeting his new family. Be prepared for photo overload tomorrow night .... lol! G'night all ... :)
  13. ohhhhhh .....GDG ... he is devine :) thanks Dory and Lisa :D
  14. Ditto. that puppy is so cute ... big plus that your bf likes him .. Tyrion is another little stunner ... 16. Hi guys so exciting reading everyone's news :) looks like our new bub will be moving in with us on 29th June I am rather numb at the moment ! lol Still alot of preparation but as long as we can get the flight organized in time ...... its all systems goooooooo
  17. Hi Puppy People .. looks like I may be joining the ranks of the "waiting for a puppy"" people.... still not 100% definite ... but looking good at this stage .... a little bubbie whippet may be getting delivered by the puppy-stork in the next couple of weeks.... lol will keep you posted
  18. Well we had a good day today. Pop seems to be more like her normal self. So that's a relief - I was getting a little concerned. Don't think I could cope with another sick puppy at the moment
  19. Hi Bianca - just caught up with this thread . So sorry to hear about what's been going on. But wonderful news that Cooper is doing so well ... and that you had a win with your insurance. If you feel like a chat or a cuppa bring your boys out for a visit - your always welcome :)
  20. Jules .. yes thats kind of like what she is like - its like she suddenly gotten old and sad .. she is normally so bright and bouncy ...
  21. thanks everyone so I guess just give her time and wait for her to come around ... maybe I'll take her for a drive tomorrow - she usually loves going visiting - so it might brighten her up a little it does make sense though - she must be feeling as crappy as me
  22. .... we lost the cancer battle with our beloved whippet boy Coby on Tuesday. I have noticed that my little Poppy (JRT) seems quite withdrawn and sad. She seems to be keeping to herself and not really taking much interest in anything. Even on our walks she seems down. She is eating, but even thats not with her normal gusto. She was with us when Coby was given his wings - and she had always been with us when I was doing his treatments etc. If she is still acting like this on Tuesday I'll get the vet to give her a check up - just incase there is something more sinister going on. She still has her other 2 whippet playmates - so its not as if she is suddenly without any doggie buddies. Any ideas would be appreciated
  23. Woof ... check out this link :) oopps ... Gapvic bet me to it lol
