My Dog Is Not Agressive Some Advice Please
^^PIP^^ replied to A and G's topic in General Dog Discussion
"Rushing" at another dog or person IS considered an offence in Victoria. Its enough to have your dog declared dangerous! If your dog ran up to "say hello" (rushing) to my dogs I would have reacted exactly the same as the lady with the poodles, and I would have reported you to council -
Does Anyone Know A Good Puppy School In Melbourne?
^^PIP^^ replied to LoremIpsum's topic in Puppy Chat
I would highly recommend Underdog's puppy classes www.underdogtraining.com.au - We took Nigel our rescue pup to the classes in Ormond, I think they do them in South Melbourne too though. We were thrilled, Nigel had a great time and he (and I)actually learnt something rather than just a free for all with pups going mental off lead!!! Nigel was sitting and dropping on his own at the end of the 4th session, and most of all he and I really enjoyed it. -
Instead of picking him up (which from his point of view, could be seen as a reward) and taking him outside, leave a lead on him, and when he marks, make him walk outside - and leave him there for a few minutes. You could give a lead correction when he marks before taking him outside - if you are comfortable with that.

Dog Training Class For Inner Melbourne?
^^PIP^^ replied to Ci's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I take my dogs to Underdog Trainings, group training, in Clayton and was really impressed. Im starting with my stafford this round too! Its not obedience, which I found useless - they teach what your average dog owner wants to know, like Drop, Sit, Drop stay, sit stay and how to walk on a loose lead etc! I would highly reccomend them. www.underdogtraining.com.au -
Yep it does, thats why its only effective from 10 weeks of age. Your pup would DEFINANTLY be covered. Have a chat to your vet about it also. Parvac requires 3 vaccinations, each a month apart to be effective doesnt it???

If your pup is given a C3 + Nobivac (to form C5) at 10 weeks, there is no need for a 16 week vaccination. ETA, as long as your pup has had its inital puppy vacc (at 6 weeks), this can be given as the second and final vaccination from 10 weeks of age.

My Stafford had similar issues, minus the blood, she would have gasto like symptoms every few months. A change over to a BARF diet (yoghurt is great) has stopped it. Also, try some Aloe Vera Juice, its great for lining the stomach. What did the vet suggest you do?

There have been several reports of Coronavirus in and around the Kingston/Bayside areas recently, and a parvo outbreak in the western suburbs, that I know of. With our recent litter of rescue pups, they had their initial C3 vacc at 6 weeks, and their final C5 at 10 weeks - which is awsome, becuase that leaves you 4 (allow 2 weeks for vacc to kick in) weeks of being able to socialise your pup, being fully vaccinated. This vaccination schedule is failry new I believe, and everyone will have varying opinions about it , but it certainly worked for us - we were able to start socialising them from 12 weeks - taking them to puppy school (thanks cosmolo) as well as starting walks, going to the beach etc etc all during the critical period

Parvac is a killed vaccine I believe.

Looking For A Vet In Melbourne For My Chihuahua
^^PIP^^ replied to Kezpipa's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I use South Road Animal Health in Moorabbin. I think they are fantastic, they have picked up things in both my dogs, that other vets didnt. She specialises in natural therapies, as well as the "normal" vet stuff. -
