Does this mean that if I start giving my BC sentinal it wont work because we have 3 cats who don't get flee treatment and there are probably flees everywhere? Sorry for all the questions but I just want to get it right! -

Im not sure about Advocate but I know it says on the revolution pack that the it is waterproof after 2 hours. -
I feed my border collie a raw diet. I mince vegies in the blender (cucumber, broccoli, apple, pear, carrot, squash, capsicum etc.) and put that with raw dog meat (mince stuff) food dinner. For breakfast she gets 2 chicken wings or necks or watever i can find. She also gets lots of raw meaty bones.

Ummmm... not exactly sure....I think it was 20mm. It was the second smallest at bunnings but thats probably not much use as you will have different sizes at the shop you go to. Sorry if my instructions are a bit confusing. Its really hard to explain. I will put diagrams up if I can work out how.

This is the jump I just gave instructions for. The one in the background is the tire jump More Pics HERE

Ok What you need: Single Jump 2 upright bars -90cm each 2 cross bars - 1m each 4 feet thingys -12cm each 8-10 (depends if u want them or not) caps. 6 T-connectors Overall you will need 4.28m of PVC piping and 6 t-connectors. Cut the uprights, cross bars and feet. Fit the t-connectors and poles into place (refer to diagram). Glue the feet and uprights into the t-connector and cut up the uprights about 5cms (or less) and put another t-connector in. Then put the long part of the upright in and glue. DO NOT glue the cross bars in if you want to be able to take apart the jump. With the last two t-connectors cut them up the back so they can be slid up and down the PVC upright. Diagrams to come... **Disclamer ;) - not regulation size EDIT: this is not the jump in the pic. I will write out directions another time. EDIT AGAIN: The top bar can be dislodged (spelling??)!

Sorry I don't know where to buy them in Australia, but I made mine out of PVC with no trouble. If you want I can give you some directions on how to make them. Here is the tire jump that I made. I also made a single jump.

Does he get much exercise? If he's had enough exercise and mental stimulation (like training, playing) he will be better behaved. You could also get him a big sturdy kennel and put a bit of carpet or something that is harder to chew in it. A. & A.

Don't let her go out of your sight at all. That way she cannot get away with doing it when you're not looking-because you will always be watching. Crates are very good for doing this. But if you really don't want to use a crate then have her in the same room with you and attach a lead to her and yourself so you are never separated. A. & A.

I used supercoat for the first year and abbie did sooooo many poos. She had a really nice coat and was healthy so I didn't associate the poos with supercoat. Now I feed raw (BARF but home made) and she does hardly any poos and doesn't smell much (only when shes been rolling in possum poo! ) A. & A.

One trainer I spoke to told me to chew on the dogs treat and then spit it out at the dog when they have done something good. They have to catch the treat. That way they are always watching you!!! I haven't tried that yet.

Hi jesomil! I went to D.O.G.S of Vic which is located at westerfolds park for a basic obedience course. They use check chains and i wasn't too happy about that but they did make sure everyone was using them correctly. I finished that course and wanted to do agility. I am now at Central City Canine Club located in glen iris. It only takes 15mins to get there. Some people there use check chains but a lot use martingales. I'm using a martingale on my dog. Most of the instructers are nice and don't use completely harsh methods but one guy said all that stuff (that i talked about at the start of my post) to me which freaked me out.(he was the guy that said to shake the crap out of the dog) I'm doing basic obedience and I get to do some agility. I think it is as good as im going to get in my search for a good training club thats close by, plus my mum likes it coz its close so i don't really get much of a choice. Where did you go? if you dont mind me asking. might see you round! A. & A.

JulesP- I'll have a go but she is very reluctent coz we've already joined this place and may not be able to get the money back. Also, the place where we are is only 15 mins away. wheres my rock- spot on! haven- you go to heidelberg, is that warringal dog obedience? InspectorRex- Surrey Hills is very close to me so probably about the same. While im at it, does anyone use martingale collars? are they better then chokers ane are they good? i though if i have to go back there (i have seen some people there with those martingale collars instead of chokers) i might try one of those or just a flat collar. Thank you so much! I really appreciate all the help! A. & A.

Thanks everyone! Staff'n'Toller- I have already done an obedience course and I want to start agility. We would still do obedience classes as well as agility. wheres my rock- Croydon is too far (my mum has to drive or I would already be there ) and so is Doveton. JulesP-As I just said, Croydon looks great but it is just too far for my mums likings . RealityBites- They don't do agility (I don't think) and thats what im really looking for. haven- I understand that and I don't mind a bit of punishment, I just don't like chokers and really yelling at the dog. I have a really timid Border Collie and I want to train her at classes and do agility to bring her confidence up. ReXy-Yep Hastings is a bit far! ETA: Altona is also too far. What happened was: I went one sunday to see what the club was like and to try my dog on agility. I didn't join, just tryed it out. The agility instructor put my dog through some of the obstacles on and off lead and she responded well so he said she would be fine to start. I didn't actually see them using chokers that day and the people I talked to were nice and used food rewards. So the next sunday I went back to join and was told to go to the intro class where the instructor taught you how to train your dog etc...That was the peorson who said the stuff about shaking the dog and using chokers. Thanks everyone! All the clubs you guys have suggested are too far and the one I joined is the nearest club that does agility to me. Im in Box Hill but I don't mind going half an hour or so away if I have to. I'm thinking I might go back and just train the way I want to with positive reinforcement if I can't find anywhere else. Hello all, Today I joined up at a dog club to do agility (we've already done obedience courses at another place that doesn't have agility). They wouldn't let me do agility until we had passed two of their courses (which i suppose is fair enough). The thing that bugged me was how the trainer told me to train my dog. They said not to use food or any positive reinforcement and to just punish her and give her a huge yank on the chocker chain when she did something wrong. They also said that the way to punish her was to grab her ears and neck and shake the c*** out of her! She is already a really timid dog i don't thing negative reinforcement is the way to go. Does anyone know of any good training clubs in melbourne? Or where do you go (in melbourne) and what do you think of that club? Thanks, A. & A.
