Thank you Stormie for replying, and for the reassurance that they aren't too nasty to remove, and heal ok afterwards The vet didn't seem too concerned about it at all, so if it gets bigger, or still there in a couple months time, I will get it removed (Just have to save up some more money after the last lot of vet bills first lol)

Hi Everyone A couple weeks ago, I finally took Renae to the vets to have a biopsy done on her tail bone lump ( It's apparently some type of harmless cyst that will need removing at some stage) We took Joey there as well to have his anal glands cleaned out (sorry if TMI), and while we were waiting for vet, I noticed Joey had this very tiny lump on one of his eyelids. First I thought it was just some muck in his eye, so I started rubbing away at it. I then realize it wasn't going away. So when we went in with him, I asked the vet what could it be ?? thinking now I have 2 Cavs with lumps !! She reassured us that some dogs do get little lumps on their eyelids, and it's rarely ever sinister. She said it could also be a stye, so to keep an watch on it over the next couple months, and if it was still there to come back in with him. They apparently can get bigger and start affecting their eye, so it would be best to have it removed before that point. She told me not to panic over it, just to be aware of it for the next couple of months. She told me his eyes appear to be normal, and not infected in any way:) It's not going away, but hasn't gotten worse either yet. Has anyone ever had any removed from their dog's eye?? did it go ok?

Hi Fiona . I am not sure of the exact measurements of our crate.. . I don't have much experience re puppies, as we had our two rehomed to us from a show home when they were older , but I guess it would be ok I leave the door open on ours during the day (if I am home), and they can go in and out of it as they please.. Joey mainly uses it. They sleep with us on our bed at night, but I don't recommend letting a puppy on the bed ( they have very delicate little legs that might break very easily) I was going to suggest you ask also in the Dol Cavalier breed sub forum, as some of them have puppies/young Cavs . I see HollyMilo has put up the link for you already All the best !

Ok here's the other one. It does fit both of ours in it The perception of it makes it look a bit smaller in this pic, but it isn't that small.. (it's a med sized one) They love it, and if the door is left open they will often go put themselves in it to have a sleep :p Joey looks a bit put out in this pic because he had been busily looking for a biscuit at the bottom of it, and we interrupted him to take a pic of it hehe It's called 'Pet One' bought it at a large pet shop warehouse. It's portable and fits easily in the back of our car.

Oh how exciting Fiona !! Welcome to DOL I'll show you ours soon, we have two (different kinds), but one is being used as a outside cat enclosure atm LOL This is the one we are using as a cat enclousure ( with a cover on top). It's bigger than it looks in the photo. We got through deals direct, and use it for when we go away camping.. The other one I'll show you later is a bit different, and what you are more looking for I think.. Like the one in post above mine Hmmmm sorry this pic is more a pen, but anyway just in case you are looking for other ideas as well. It does have a gate as part of it ..

I don't know anything really about giving milk to puppies, but I know you not meant to give them normal milk at all. My dogs arn't puppies anymore, but I made them pupachinos for Joey's birthday last night, from a pet milk you can get from the supermarket (it's in a long life box), that is lactose free. There's is actually two different types .. one is Low fat also I think? I am not sure about mixing it with kibble tho? I have never done that.

Hi and welcome to DOl, CruisaGal ! I would write heaps more, but I have a really bad head cold atm, and I'm not really too focused atm You can also post in the Cavalier Breed sub forum, and ask in there also. They will be more than helpful with any questions you have on Cavs ! http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...&start=6135 I have two, and they are fantastic little dogs! Goodluck! See you around the forums :D

I was disapointed in one we tried a few months ago.. We were told about this really good one in Mount Barker, who does things a bit differently. Well He sure does ! LOL Anyway after a lot of muck up with communication with making an appointment with him ( it was for our cat), we were about to cancel it, and then his secretary rang and apologized and said to come in ( he thought it wasn't fair for our kitty to have to endure being not well for too much longer). We did honestly tell them that is was a second opinion we were after, and we were wanting to change vets if we were happy with their services. At the end of the diagnoses ( which was same one as our usual vets), he wouldn't even give her medication to give her relief !! ( it was a Saturday so we were desperate for medication for her!) So that put us off a new potential vet for our dogs ! And he has a different way of clocking your time with his consult, but it worked out the same cost as our usual one anyway (without the medication) LOL So we are back to square one again.. Oh and we went back to our usual one as we were desperate for medication, so it ended us costing up double by the time we had to pay their consult fee as well ! By the way I did the other thread about looking for a really good vet in SA Just that we want to try to find one up our way.. sorry for having a vent in your thread

I know someone who had their dogs done at Marion Animal Hospital on Marion Road in Mitchell Park - 8277 3733. Oh I've just noticed u are from SA as well, and have Cav !

I know someone who had their dogs done at Marion Animal Hospital on Marion Road in Mitchell Park - 8277 3733. Oh thanks for that Rivsky ! Marion is not to far to travel too from Strath Our local vets might do it, but I think they are bit funny with us for choosing not to vaccinate last year

I'm looking into this too.. Haven't acted on it yet, or know where to get it done? I'm in SA.. I have always had ours done every year, but after reading a very long pros and cons thread about vaccinations(and over vaccinating) on DOL last year, hubby and I chose not to get ours done late last year when they were due. ( they usually have very bad reactions after) From what we have read and researched some of the parts of the vaccinations don't need doing every year as vets have us believing .. So yeah we are wanting to get ours titre tested as well... We never board them, and we avoid them sharing water bowls with other dogs if we are out and about..

Hi Apologies for not having read the whole thread and everyone's responses yet.. I had a German shepherd x Blue Heeler once who had the worse allergies condition , It started when he belonged to this cruel man, who also let him get flea infested. I spent soooooooooooo much money on getting him tested and desensitized ( on and off over a few years), but it was very successful in the end:) I had to regularly clip him short all over (his dad had been a long haired shepherd), and I used to get so much flack from people saying I was being cruel to him clipping him short all over, but they had no idea how bad he used to get with his skin . He would get painful sores all over his body . In my early 20's I also had desensitizing injections for grass, hay etc etc allergies. I would get so ill if I went near my horses, their paddocks/food etc.. It cost me heaps for me too (this is why i have no money now ! LOL), and it worked effectively for me, altho it took a few years of injections.. I now can go near what i was allergic too without it being almost life threatening for me ! In both cases with my dog at the time, and myself I tried everything else first to avoid having to pay big money and go through the stress of having injections all the time. On a side note , not sure if anyone has mentioned it already, there is a new product from the vets now for mainly dogs( but we use it on our cat for her skin problems) that might be worth looking into as well. It is very expensive tho for a little bottle of it ! eeek

Sorry to hear ab out Fred's results... They can be scary, I personally have experienced it with my last dog (and myself). Not all is doom and gloom tho with cancer, if picked up early enough and treated... Your Fred looks so sweet and healthy in those pics of him ! On a positive note my dog's breeder had one of her Cavs diagnosed with a cancerous lump (around her throat area). The Cav is our Renae's Mum, so she isn't that young. The breeder has been taking her Cav to a holistic vet for a year now, with lump getting smaller, and the last test she had at the normal vets revealed that the lump has totally gone now ! wohooo! Thinking of you and wishing for a positive outcome for Fred !

Joey and Renae even made it onto some weird religion sect's group site !!!! and because it's one of them licking their birthday cake (the dogs), the people on that site have said horrible things about me ( the owner) taking a pic of my dogs with a birthday cake and allowing them to eat it . Grrrrr

This is a water mark I am 'trialing' atm.... it's not a pretty one, and it does get slightly in the way of the image, but i would think it would make it a bit difficult to PS out.. (you can set it at different opacity levels ) For some reason even my not so good dogs photos get taken the most
