Re the fires, yes that is defiantly a worry! Not sure what emergency plans they have in those situations? I would be asking if I was to book my dogs in there. However we used to live in Nairne (for a few years), and I only ever encountered one fire, and that was a house around the corner from us. A truck driver went to sleep while smoking (so the story from the locals go) . The house fully burnt down with it's owner inside

Wolfgirl, that is so cute, the one with the galah and your cats and dog ! My parents used to breed GSD's, and we had a galah back then that used to walk among them, and pinch their food ! In fact he used to drag their food bowls under the water tank so they couldn't get to them ! LOL

What adorable pics !! I love seeing and hearing about pets getting along so nicely together ! Well ever since we adopted Leroy (late last year), Joey our youngest Cav has taken to him in a real Motherly way! All Joey wants to do is lick Leroy and give him little love nibbles, which Leroy doesn't seem to mind ! Joey's never been like this with our other cat 'Karma'. In fact Karma has never really taken a liking to Joey

Hi Leoni In our Cavs case they will lick their paws obsessively if their anal glands need cleaning out (sorry if TMI) However my last dog Jenna (a red heeler x) would also, and there never seemed any apparent reasons either.. If you do a search on dol for paw licking, I am sure there will be quite a few threads from other owners about it also.

Are there any registered and ethical breeders of them in SA? Can't see any on the DOL breed pages.Just someone I know online is doing some research on them, and wanting to know? I have directed her to this thread, but so far there hasn't been too many owners/breeder responding :D Thanks Cat for your feedback ;)

Awww Tyson is so adorable looking ! Joey has a bit of a weird walk, not so much a waddle tho. Can't explain it ! LOL I think his feathering on his back legs makes it more noticeable. It's just one of his idiosyncrasy (sp?) as BertandSally pointed out about her Bert ;-)

It's Official - Atlas Is An Amazing Protector
julesluvscavs replied to FranVT's topic in General Dog Discussion
Oh my how scary!! Glad you are ok, and both dogs ! Well done to Atlas !! When we first moved into this house, it only had a wooden front door. The first thing I did was put a good screen door on it ! (I know If someone wants to get in, they still will) but it does help a bit Glad your neighbors were so alert and called the cops also ! -
I have (well the vets have) used it on my past dogs, wonderful stuff !!! ( I vaguely remember them having one a month for 3 months? then a big break before another lot) Just wish there was a human version of it !!!! Obviously if using long term, it doesn't work as effectively I found (depending on each situation of course) ..

Deodourizing (sp?) My House - Suggestions Please.
julesluvscavs replied to YappyLittleDawg's topic in General Dog Discussion
I use bi carb of soda powder, it's not expensive and it neutralizes bad odours. I used to do it when we were renting, especially before a inspection. Leave it on floor for a while tho. Don't think it will harm pets, unless they are very sensitive to things? I also use power clean by OzKleen for spot cleaning bought at woolworths in carpet cleaning section -
Yeah you could have a valid point there dyzney! My Husband said there must be more to it....

Slightly OT, but we ended up at a pet shop last week ( we generally don't, but needed something), and we heard a woman (mother with kids in tow) ask where are all the cute puppies?? The pet shop owner answered with that there will be some soon, but they don't sell them over Christmas, as they find that the puppies often get dumped during this time Hubby said to me, but they sell them all the other times grrrr ! but I guess unlike other pet shops that would thrive on selling them over that particular time, least there's one that doesn't. Not that it still justifies selling them for the rest of the year

Do You Assume Your Dog Is An Invited Guest?
julesluvscavs replied to slk's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think it's only good manners to ask first weather it's ok to take your dog/s to someone's place ! The only place where we would take our Cavs unannounced is either of our parent places. -
Hi Chuckie500 You might find this thread useful as well. I've previously responded in that one http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?show...&hl=zoomies
