  1. Oh thats great !!! Hope tomorrow is a success then Italimum !
  2. Happy Easter to you Italium and your family ! Sooooo.. been patiently waiting all day to hear how your meeting with Christian went ???(I'm living through ur posts atm because I want another Cav lol) Hope the kids have been not too ratty after all their sugar intake today as well
  3. yeah we have an older model one, we even do our lounge suite with it
  4. Thanks italmum Not sure what will happen, if he does it again? hopefully they will be supervising the kid and the Cav a bit more closely from now on.. When is it you are meeting Christian ?
  5. I will openly admit (and I have said it before on here) that our sweet Renae can get very 'territorial', and we don't trust her entirely around kids (We don't have any kids ourselves). We always pre warn people and stay one step of her if around people. But mostly she has a beautiful nature around us and all our other pets, or people she's known for a while. She is quite deaf now, so we have to becareful not to startle her, or wake her up suddenly, not that she would ever bite us, just that she gets very confused about what is going on. Joey on the other hand loves everyone, even kids! A friend of mine has an older Cavalier thats been totally spoilt for years, then they had a baby and he's been a bit jealous ever since. The kid is now about 1 or 2 i think, and does play a bit too rough with the Cav at times, and usually the Cav doesn't react, but recently he bit the kid on the face, leaving a little scar. I was thinking perhaps this Cav is going deaf as well, and got annoyed when the kids started playing with him unexpectly.. I'm not sure .. Most Cavaliers I have met are very gently and kid friendly, but like us, they are all individual in their personalities/traits. Thats why I think its probably better to buy one from a breeder who has has kids themselves (if you are wanting one to be kid friendly), and have had some socialization at a young age with kids
  6. long coat. I have heard of many people doing this, of course not everyone is going to publically admit to this tho ;-)
  7. Hi Baby Dragon Our two don't get let of their leashes when out and about on walks, but Hubby will make Joey work a bit harder by climbing over rocks (we live by the beach), going up and down steps, up and down look outs etc.. all this can be done on leash, and DH will also do quite a bit of running with him Renae is getting older, so we don't expect her to do the same, if she's not in the mood.
  8. Yeah what is with that !! I would love to see if i can apply for a third dog, but it worries me in re; to that condition
  9. Our 2 stay mostly inside. I have seen them do some very impressive zoomies inside our last house, and our new house, both fairly small houses. Our young Cav 'Joey' goes for a couple long walks with my husband a week, mostly on the weekends. They do spend more time 'sleeping/lazing' around than being active, but they do go for drives with us on the weekends, and when we get out to do something, of course they do too. Our backyard is quite large, and they will walk around exploring, but it only lasts about 5-10 mins, then they want to come back inside ! LOL If we are outside doing something then they will follow us around. Both of our Cavs are in quite good shape, pity their Mum (me) isn't ! eeek
  10. No I meant the snoring sounds LOL I know they snort too. Renae does when she gets over excited ! ;-) What a pity you couldn't keep the one that was dumped at your place, why was that..
  11. Oh you won't be getting a break from your DH's snoring once you get a Cav !
  12. Oh how exciting !!!! He's so adorable looking !! All the best Italmum, hope you get him !! told you when the timing is right, it will all happen!! :D
  13. hey, you only have Ruby dogs though? I am after a bleheim or tri-coloured thanks anyways I know of some other litters. Was Bilbo Baggins of any to help you at all Italimum, I read earlier in the thread she had PM'd you??
  14. Sorry to hear that Italmum.. *gentle hugs* We met a lovely couple (not sure if they have kids or not) last weekend at a market. They started talking to us because they saw Joey and Renae. They said they had waited for a long time to get theirs (they never mentioned why?). We asked where did you get her from? and they said would you believe the pound ! She wasn't a puppy of course, but she was dumped as a result of a divorce They said it must of been fate that brought them all to all together! It just goes to show when you least expect it, sometimes it just happens ! (same with us with ours.. as I mentioned before about how we got Joey , then his mum Renae) Never give up ! When the time is right, and you put your heart into it, it will happen ;) Did you say you had stairs earlier ?? just becareful if you have, (as you would be of course!) Just that we met a young Cavalier last year that's owner had bought a house with concrete steps out the back, and the young Cav had fallen down them accidently, and had to have one of it's legs amputated, now it only has 3 legs It's doing ok tho There are some breeders like our Cav's, that will also even come and do homechecks before they will commit to you having one of their puppies. ps...Have you rang up any Cavalier rescue groups yet? The Cavalier sub forum thread on Dol might be able to help you also? there are breeders in there who do rescue as well ;)
  15. I have a small grape vine growing in my backyard, along one our fence lines, not quite the same as on a large scale LOL. I've been wondering if the Cavs will eat any of the grapes, but so far they don't seem interested in them. All the best Sandgrubber if you decide to go for it !
  16. We have been gone to many of them, but they are bit far to drive down too now we have shifted to Goolwa.. Bellatrix (a lovely member on here) usually goes to them with her Cavs:)
  17. Oh sorry to hear that you had such a hard time as well ;) , especially with the SA Cavalier Club not getting back to you ! Hopefully you will get your baby one soon, if all goes right in Junes. Goodluck Jodi !! Please don't let that put you off joining the SA Cavalier Club tho later, their fun days are really good !
  18. hey, you only have Ruby dogs though? I am after a bleheim or tri-coloured thanks anyways We have 2 Blenheim s, but I have been told by so many Ruby Cavalier owners that they have a very sweet nature (all the colours do of course), but it's common knowledge in Cavalier world that Ruby's have their own very unique sweet personality..
  19. Hi Italimum (your username seems familiar?) Our Cavs breeder is hesitant to sell to families with young children. Her reasoning being that young Cavs especially can be injured easily, even if it by accident. I have come very close myself at times tripping over our two ! Having said that at our Cavalier Club here in SA, I have seen many families with young children at our fun days. So there are breeders out there who will sell their pups to families with young children I know some breeders can be very precious about their dogs, as they have put a lot of effort into them. (and fair enough too!) But it worries me that people will turn to BYB's and pet shops so they can get one instantly without all the right health testing etc having been done.. We don't have kids, but we were still judged on many other factors before the breeder choose us and said yes to us buying one her young show dogs (Joey) Going to shows and meeting breeders (long as its not when they are about to go into the ring, or have just come out, is a good way to get to know them and visa versa) and going to your local Cavalier KCS club fun days, where it's more relaxed All the best ! ps.. Both our Cavs weren't puppies when we got them. so they were already toilet trained, used to traveling etc ;)
  20. I know - one of my closest girlfriends has a cav.... There is no way she could forget it's quite a sight You knew what i meant then !
  21. Gotta love the DOL Police hey They have even picked me up on my signatures being a bit too big in the past :D, at least one of them personally pm'd me first to lay down the law about it. Maybe they are moderator wannabes's YesTroy does a brilliant job with this forum!
  22. Nope. you could never forget to feed Cavs !!!!!!!
  23. Joey and Renae's breeder (Merry-'Rivarose' ) doesn't have any litters atm, but I am sure she can recommend other SA Cavalier breeders Let me know if you would like her details. I do know of another SA breeder that I can give you their contact details, but I don't think they have any litters atm either. Ps.. Here is a link to the SA Cavalier Club
