Lovely Christmas photos everyone ! Here is some of ours .. Joey, Holly (our foster girl) and Renae..
-
Joey and Renae grew up being crated at shows by their breeder, so its just second nature to them. We have ours in the loungeroom and the gate on it is always kept opened. In fact if it gets shut for some reason (and they are not in it), they get bit upset and will try everything to open it and get inside The only time I have shut them in it was once when we had tradesperson around for a few hours installing an aircon, he made it clear he didn't want to be tripping over small dogs, and if people come over and the Cavs arn't sure about them in the beginning, I will put them in it , but in front of our guests. Once they calm down then they come back out again.. I have used it also for Joey to recuperate in after a leg injury, and it did the job. Other that its just their little safe haven room. Atm our little foster dog, who i seriously doubt has ever seen a crate (but then who knows) is going in it a lot and sleeping since being desexed yesterday. Poor cavs have been turfed out of it ! I wished i had known about crates years ago!

That was very thoughtful of them !

I love your horses woofnhoof!!! I used to own horses years ago, and every time I see your pics , I want one again Both your horses obviously come from really good bloodlines, I can see that just looking at the photos of them! and in great shape too! Loving your photography shots of them as well. You have truley captured their personalities and quirks ! x

Thanks Rach It doesn't help I've woken up this morning with really bad hayfever ! I am sure she will be ok.. Not sure yet if picking up her today sometime or they keeping her in overnight,. Usually I have always picked up my past dogs that same day. Not keen to leave her there overnight, after the experience we had there with Renae ages ago.,.,

Thank you WoofnHoof Another one us both taken today.... She goes in for her desexing/micro-chipping tomorrow. I am already feeling worried about it

Thank you Snook x Thank you CC x Thanks On'sThe Cavs have been perfect hosts to her, I am so proud of them! the cats have been good to her too I am sure she will find he forever home very soon! Thanks ETH, I think she will be snapped up quickly! Here's Holly after her pamper session today. A local grooming place 'donated' their precious time to give her a bit of a spruce up. She was well behaved, just wasn't keen on her face being touched with scissors, so the groomer only did a very light trim on her Monday she is booked in to get desexed and microchipped.

Thats so precious Rach, it made very teary for the loss of all our special and beautiful dogs in our lives and hearts I do believe their spirits carry on.. I have had this instant unbelievable bond with our Holly foster dog (no we werv'e still not keeping her) and i haven't been able to work it out why.. Then my husband said to me last night that he has observed it as well, and reakons it beause I have had unresolved issues since my first little doggie. My first little dog was a black terrier cross poodle, so kind of looked like Holly, only curlier and black. About same size tho, same sort of quirks:) I had her since i was around 13, and she was my loyal shadow, we were inseparable. Then in my late teens i discovered boys, and I started leaving her out of everything, and my parents have said to me since that I would go out for hours, and come back home and ignore Abbie, even tho she had spent hours waiting for me and pining She ended up getting cancer at about 14 years of age, and it took me a year to get her pts (I was selfish back then and didn't want her to leave me even tho she was in a lot of pain). So I have spent years feeling guilty about it all. I mean I loved her, and treated her right, but I feel bad for the couple things I put her through (as teenagers do!) And that is why my husband think I am fussing over Holly, that I am trying to make up for that period of my life. So maybe she was sent to me to make up for what happened and to resolve it before she moves on to her new home? Anway big gentle squishy hugs for you Rach. I totally know where you are coming from! xoxox

Meet Holly, our first foster dog through AADBR She's staying with us until she finds her new forever home and is ready to go. She;s around 7 She's got the biggest heart of gold, and I'm totally smitten by her ! So far she's getting along with the Cavs, the cats and doesn't seem too interested in the bunny (when the bunny is in the her hutch) Very loving kind of dog. She's having a pamper/grooming session on the weekend

Where Is The Best Dog Friendly Place To Live With A Beach
julesluvscavs replied to seeana's topic in General Dog Discussion
We live about ten mins from a beach here in Goolwa. Ideal for dogs, but not so safe in the sand dunes because of snakes in the Summer. There is offleash times you can take them there, but we keep on leashes all the time when out and about. Its very quiet along our beach generally unless during some holiday periods (and then its really not that busy). Theres only horses (being exercised) to compete with at times, but thats usually very early in the mornings. There's other beaches close by too, some more isolated than others and better for dogs. I love the town we live in, very friendly and about hour and half from Adelaide.. -
We love our cats as much as our cavs They all have their moments, which is understandable, but they all get along with each other fairly well. They all offer different things in their own little ways to enhance our lives. Here's Leroy one of our 2 cats in the crate with the Cavs :D

Affectionate Friendly (to me and my family members) Easy going and doesn't require high maintenance. Easy to handle eg take in and out of the car easily, bathing/grooming, walking etc Compatible with all our other pets, eg cats, birds and bunny We own 2 Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, and they fit the above ideals of what we want in our dogs.

I refer to it as their house ;)

Our Cavs were brought up with crates, being ex show dogs. They love theirs ! We rarely shut them up in it, and then only very short periods. In fact if I leave the door shut on it, they get really upset and try to break into it Even our cats use it sometimes if the cavs aren't using it, and I have a pic of both the cavs and one of the cats in it altogether lol They sleep on our bed at nights, but during the day they sleep on and off in it. Its in the loungeroom, so if we are watching tv they go in there. I tried to pack it up once because it was a bit unsightly and they were not impressed! I have since had a cover made for it by CockerLover, and it makes it looks a bit more attractive. They also have a nice soft bed in it, and a frame on the inside of my husband and I As for other people what they think, I can't say many people have questioned us about it, and if they have I just say that they were brought up using one, and tell them the advantages it. In fact some people have wanted to get one for theirs after ! Not long after we got Joey, he hurt his leg and had to be rested quietly for a couple weeks, and because he was used to being in a crate, it was really easy to keep him still so his leg could heal. I wish I had them in the past with some of my other dogs! Also we don't have a window ledge under our loungeroom window, so the crate top makes an ideal resting place for the cats so they can look outside. Here's one of Joey, Renae and one of our cats (was taken with my mob phone, so not best quality)
