How Do I Stop My Puppy Getting The Washing Off The Line?
julesluvscavs replied to jess live die's topic in Puppy Chat
We are lucky that we actually have a separate bit of enclosed yard (that leads out from the laundry) to the other part of the backyard where the clothesline is.. I can barely reach the clothesline let alone the Cavs ! -
I Feel Like An Idiot Calling My Vet Every Week...:-(
julesluvscavs replied to Niki8's topic in General Dog Discussion
I can relate to you with our first Cavalier 'Joey' He was about 18 months when we got him, and he did fret for a little while. But I was calling the vet almost every second day about something I worried about, which usually wasn't anything serious. I still think it pays to check, even if its just to talk to the vet staff first ;) The first time I saw Joey do a zoomie, I thought he was having some sort of weird fit and called the vets in a mad panic, it was just a zoomie  I had never seen a small dog's version of zoomie before, its like they are on speed (not that i know what being on speed is like lol) These days, and since having a second cav, I don't react like I used too.. I still get paranoid, but I have learnt not to overeact as I once would o We are getting a puppy soon, and I will probably go back to being overeactive again ! ;-) You are just being a caring responsible dog owner :D -
Dry Food Product Concern
julesluvscavs replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi there ! :D Long time no see! Yeah well with our new puppy coming soon, I want to do all the right things. its like your first couple kids (not that ive had any) but they say by the time you get around to having more of them, you wisen up about how to go about doing things right by then. Well thats what I've been told anyway lol The vet is repeating the tests in a few months time, but its more to see if her special meds got her levels down with the last results, or not.. the next test will determine if she has to go back onto them or not. Im rarely in Adelaide anymore. Im giving heaps more fresh veges to them now anyway :) they do get raw chicken necks too. Our puppy's breeder will be giving me a lot of guidance with the her feeding routine, as shes into raw and natural for her dogs and cats :) My husband still thinks its the flea treatment we had her on that caused her problems, we stopped it a while back... -

Dry Food Product Concern
julesluvscavs replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
No I hadn't Sheena .. they don't have it often anyway, so im sure its not totally linked to Renae's liver issue.. which is mostly normal again . -
Dry Food Product Concern
julesluvscavs replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yeah well this one hasn't ever been recalled officially, but just the info has scared me a bit, well a lot ! Ive never had problems previously with any type of dry food I've given them, or any of my dogs in the past,, -
Dry Food Product Concern
julesluvscavs replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Yeah thats not a major issue with me either Oakway.. :) My only concern is that i hope its not this particular brand of dry food that caused Renae's issues.. might be just coincidental, same with the flea treatment we had previously had her on.. Its just hard to prove one way or other -

Dry Food Product Concern
julesluvscavs replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Thank you for your reply twodoggies :) I do see where you are coming from (and others re raw food being better) I don't doubt that. I've done various diets over the years with all my dogs, and i cant say I have noticed a huge difference with the different diets i have given them. They all been pretty healthy for the most part and lived to fairly good ages. I was recommended dental dry food by our vets because we were having some dental issues which is because they don't really get into chewing bones, except chicken neck, which doesn't last long enough to be of great benefit for their teeth! I am currently looking into going back to a raw diet, as my new puppy would have started on it by the time i get her. But this is the first time ive had a dog with liver issues, and Im just trying to link up why she had them? as has been healthy up to this recent scare.. the vets said it was a recent toxin build up too, not one over a long time.. Processed foods are dicey i admit for dogs and us humans.. Im actually given them a lot more vegetables in their diets now:) -

2 more sleeps now Ellis ! Hope everyone else is patiently waiting for their time to come! How are you others going with your new puppies? Here is another update on Miah's blog ;) http://julesluvscavs.blogspot.com.au/ -
I admit I do buy supermarket brands of dry food for the Cavs every so often. I do prefer to get the most suitable types from the vets, but in between I still pick up a pkt from the local woolies. I mostly try to get the more well known brands, but I have picked up few times over the last year the Purina Beneful dry food (when its been on special) A friend just sent me this link as she knows we have had problems with Renae's high liver enzymes levels recently ( all is good atm). And even tho its been reported in America, its still sold here ! http://www.examiner....&action_ref_map I know some of you will say that dry pkt food isn't good for them and you should give them a raw diet (Im working towards that now) but its just very scary to think there could be a link to our recent health scare !! I was putting it down to her flea treatment, but now I'm wondering if was because of this food ?

High Liver Enzymes In Dogs
julesluvscavs replied to julesluvscavs's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Oh i just saw this ruby doo.. sorry to hear about your rescue Basset See Renae has not lost any weight, instead has put on quite a bit ! Is the special medicine Urisodol ? thats what Renae had made up for hers.. and she was on AB's for quite some time too. I hope your girl's liver enzymes come down soon! Renae's has for now :) altho there are still some other levels that are a bit elevated but not as serious as the liver ones were. -

Oh how exciting ILG you must join us in the puppy waiting thread in this section! I have already named our puppy girl, who is still with her breeder for another just over 4 weeks. We wanted something very symbolic and special for her because of all the lead up to her coming into our lives. But I do know a lot of people often wait till their puppy comes home before they come up with a name that best suits him/her. The breeder will probably come up with her registered name that will go with her prefix. I was planning on getting a whole lot of things, but ours will come with a few things anyway. So im going wait till she gets here to see what else we need. We have plenty of toys for her as our other 2 cavs are older and not into toys anymore, but my friends keep buying them more, which is going be handy anyway! I've bought ours a cheap little bed for now, as puppies like to chew everything, so i'm being told !lol We have never had a puppy before, just older dogs :) I think the best thing to do in the meantime is make your house and property is puppy friendly and safe. All the best with it ! Ps I do like the name Millie, i had a cat called Millie once, and a friend of mine, her nickname is Millie :) -

The photo of Remy is gorgeous !!! Thank you also for the compliment of Miah x -

Thanks for asking Sujo :D It went really well, tiring tho as we had to drive 2 hours each way , but it was totally worth it ! Heres a post summery of todays visit to meet Miah. Im a bit into astrology and astronomy , so today has another special meaning too.. tonight is a new moon, and her name means 'Moon' (the reason is in her blog) and new moons means new beginnings ! :D http://julesluvscavs.blogspot.com.au/ Oh and her breeder really appreciated the gift we took her ! (Belgium Chocolates) -
Has anyone said Secret Service yet? would be an ideal stud dog name lol Or Secret Mission.. they probably been suggested already! :)

Very cute bunnies! We have had 2, but currently only have a big black one called Pepsi. Pepsi is very dominant and even Im scared of him lol But with the cavs he is totally fine with them. He and Joey are best mates! They can only all hang out if they are all supervised . Theres a pic of him with Joey and Renae in my signature pic :) We did read that to a bunny if you turn your back on them or an animal does, it the highest form of disrespect to them apparently and that can cause them to get shitty lol I cant give any advice as we have never had any issues with the Cavs and our bunnies. Our pepsi is almost as big as them ! We have a puppy coming to live with us in about 4 weeks and they will be very carefully introduced when the time is right :) ps Sometimes when Joey is grooming Pespi, it looks like he's trying to eat him, but he's not and Pespi does not mind at all, altho when he's had enough he will do a little grunt to warn Joey off Having said that I have heard of domestic dogs killing their families pet bunnies
