It looks quite ingenious the way it works. Its like a slicker brush you activate with a trigger and when you release the trigger all the accumulated fur gets sucked down the vacuum. http://www.dyson.com.au/vacuums/groom/suitability.asp They even have a 1800 number you can call to see if its suitable for your dog. If it works for samoyeds it would be like a gift from heaven Would be interested to hear about its effectiveness from any DOLĂ©r who may have one.

Fellow samoyed owners, at this time of year bindiis are everywhere. I am cutting back the fur on his 4 hocks and rear end so he isn't a bindii-magnet but don't like doing it with scissors. The fur is so fine often the scissors aren't sharp enough to cut it. Is there any brand/type of clippers you can recommend that are good for trim/tidy-up jobs for samoyeds?

My dog is just over 4 years old and for pretty much his whole life we've walked the same walking route every day. One thing I am curious about is his habitual behaviour at certain points on the walk. Examples; on the same street corner on 90% of his walks he'll stop, roll over and want me to rub his tummy and play. Why always at the same place? at another spot during the walk, he always stops and scratches himself...no there's nothing on this spot that itches him and he always scratches the same place on his body. He rarely if ever scratches himself at all other than this. It always happens at the same precise place. when walking through a certain park he will start running around me and nipping at my feet playfully...again only in this particular area. What theories are there to explain this location-based behaviour? Could it be a scent trigger? I'm not worried about it in any way but curious minds would like to know

So much for 'love thy neighbour' and talking problems through. http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/barking-dog-spar...0930-15xp2.html

This crossed my mind too. But there are lots of dogs who love the water and I'd like to think those people who have entered their dogs in this event would do so on that basis.

Pip, thanks. Used sardines before but he didnt seem too keen. I'll see how different meats go. He turned 4 recently and had photos of him here. I really need to take some new ones of him but I'm not much of a photographer

My 4yo samoyed is very fit and healthy. Lately he seems to be getting bored with his food (fresh veges, premium biscuits and pet-grade chicken mince) that he's always been having. Any suggestions for a bit of variety I can mix in with his biscuits and veges?

Another year gone and the ball of fluff turns 4

He's be put on a 3 week course of vitamin K pills. Vet checked him thoroughly and said physically he was fine.

I think for peace of mind I'll pop him up to the vet tomorrow morning (ie. this morning).

Thanks for feedback and concern. I'm 99.9% sure he hasn't eaten any Ratsak and I've been watching him like a hawk in the last 24 hours. No signs of redness anywhere (eyes etc.), poo all clear and he's as energetic and playful as ever. The Ratsak itself he probably couldn't get at. None of it was spilled and had he of eaten it he probably would have eaten all of the small amount there. if I see anything like the slightest change in behaviour or any symptoms presented I'll be at the vet ASAP.
-
If a dog has swallowed Ratsak, how long would it take for sympotms (ie vomiting or whatever) to show? Does anyone know what the symptoms would look like?

Great to see so many new Samoyed owners around. There used to be only a couple of us before and any Sammy thread we started dropped off pretty quickly. Kelza you look like you have a beautiful bunch there. Haza this is a great breed of dog. I hope you have a good sense of humor because there isn't a day that goes by without these bundles of fluff doing something that will make you smile or laugh. And they're also quite strong-willed. Try to avoid black pants henceforth and buy a Dyson vacuum

Great video. I never knew Zero had a history like that. You're a good person Shell and you have a good friend in Nik
