  1. It's sounding more and more like a digital quick print place will be your best bet. As Sheridan was saying in an usual offset printing prepress (like the one I manage) we don't have publisher so would need a PDF supplied... And past experience with most Microsoft program's is that the PDFs will be rgb and low res if your using a freebie PDF writer. I think Dobsons in Sydney are one printer that would be able to process a publisher file for you, certainly PageSet would be able to produce a digital print from publisher as well.
  2. If it's 4 colour, price wise digital printing is going to be by far the cheapest option. For quantities of 150 I would hazard a guess and say 500 copies would cost the same. For digital you could try Pageset in Mt Waverley. For off-set you could try Immij who are also in Mt Waverley.
  3. Just in regards to the barking, the neighbor that we are pretty sure made the complaint lives on the other side of mums house away from the main yard and with a separate courtyard that Max cannot access between them. As mums on a corner block the only direct neighbor is the one who confronted this other neighbor about antagonizing the dog on bin nights. All the other nearby neighbors across the road from mum have signed the letter saying Max doesn't often bark and he hadn't bothered them (7 house in total) and a group of people in mums street who walk by each day have signed a similar letter stating they pass the house each day and haven't heard any barking. Mum has spoken to the neighbor back when dad was alive and was told to f off and they would bark at the dog if they liked. They are absolute charmers.
  4. Mum made reports to the police on 2 of the 3 occasions there were attempted break ins but not the 3rd time as they never turned up on the 2 previous occasions. She will be reporting everything from now on and also keeping a diary of things like the times max is in the house as well. I'm thinking she may need to start keeping him in the house when she is out to prove he hasn't been barking when she is away as well. Fingers crossed the letter signed by the other neighbors will be all that is needed..
  5. Thanks for that. She is going to go in & talk to the council & the neighbour that confronted the woman also works in admin at the council & she is going to bring the letter in for mum once she has spoken to all the surrounding neighbours. It's just crap because mums had such a bad run lately of undesirables trying to break in/vandalise her house & her only comfort is knowing she has Max to protect her as she is on her own since dad passed away 2 years ago. So far she has had 3 panels of her colorbond fence pulled down (luckily Max was already inside for the night) and then a few weeks later 2 men tried to pull down another 2 panels & around the same time she went out for no more than an hour & came home to find someone had tried to pull her security front door off the hinges. So this is just all more rubbish she doesn't need!
  6. Hi all, I'm looking for a bit of advise for my mum. She has received a notice from the council that there has been a complaint about her Dobe, Max, barking. We are fairly sure the complaint was made by her direct neighbor who has consistently over the past couple of years antagonized Max by kicking the colorbond fence & making barking sounds, then screaming at him when he starts to bark. Another neighbour has witnessed this & confronted the woman in the past. This usually only happens on bin night when the neighbour has to use the lane behind mums house to put her bin out...and as Max is inside all night he couldn't be bothering anyone of a night without mum hearing him. Mum is going to get the other surrounding neighbours to sign a letter stating that in the 10 years she has had Max he has never disturbed them by barking etc. So far she has spoken to 4 of her neighbours & they are happy to sign the letter. I've told her to start keeping a diary of any disturbances, but other than that is there anything else she can do? Are we safe in assuming the council would investigate this themselves before issuing a fine? Any advice on how to approach this would be appreciated.
  7. Oh no, I am so sorry you have lost your beautiful girl. RIP Montana.
  8. I don't come in here often, so have only just seen this. So sorry for your loss. RIP Busta
  9. I hadn't checked in on Ollie for awhile so thought I'd see how he was doing & then saw your sad news. So sorry for your both your recent losses. RIP Ollie
  10. Hi all, We are off to NY later in the year & I'm thinking it might be time to buy a new lens to go on my Nikon D200. At the moment I only have the kit lens (18-55mm) and a Tamron 2.8 28-75mm. Sooo... what kind of lens would you recommend for more wide angle cityscape style shots?
  11. Closest ocean beach to Rooty Hill would be approx 1hours drive away. You could always bring your friend to the Northern Beaches, lots of great places to walk to dogs & take pics around here. You could also try Nurragingy Reserve for scenery, though I'm not sure if it is dog friendly.
  12. So very sorry for your loss. :D RIP Leo.
  13. It sounds like Ben was much loved part of your family & I am sure he knew that. RIP beautiful boy.
  14. I am so sorry for your loss. RIP Bear.
  15. I will give the Calendula Tea a go. Can I buy it from the supermarket or do I need to head to a health food store?
  16. Thanks Erny. I'm also inclined to wait because he has had similar lumps before from insect bites though they usually disappear within a week. I've just heard so many bad stories about lumps I would prefer to be over cautious but don't want to be rushing off to the vet only to be told to keep an eye on it & see how it goes. He's also not great with needles, so I know if it needs to be aspirated that they will have to heavily sedate him.
  17. I haven't tried that one, but after trying a lot of different products I am managing my boys arthritis with Ester C & a product that contains glucosamine, MSM & Chondroitin.
  18. Last weekend I noticed the hair on Diesels hind leg sticking out in one small area. On further inspection it turns out that it is a small lump that seems to be on the skin, as in it moves with the top layer of skin. It seemed to have a slight scab on the top that fell off today & is skin coloured though when I pull the hair back it is slightly red closer the the bottom. The lump is raised by around 3mm & is around 6mm wide at the base. The lump doesn't seem to be causing any discomfort at all & also doesn't seem to be getting any bigger. My question is, should I be taking him straight to the vet or give it another week or 2 to see if it gets bigger or even disappears?
  19. Thanks. We've been trying to get fitter, so going for walks/runs along the headland or on bush tracks with a nice view definitely helps get motivated.
  20. I thought I'd pop the kit lens back on the D200 & take a few pics while taking the dog for a walk. Here are the results. Banksia men
  21. I think any of the more people orientated breed has a good chance of picking a child to bond with if the child spends more time with them than other people in the household. Something like a staffy springs to mind as a good size for a young girl who has experience with smaller breeds.
  22. She sounds like a sweetie. Rip gorgeous girl
  23. I thought that might be the case with the Avalon shop. There are always signs out on the street advertising oodle or x breed pup that will be instore soon. Needless to say, we have never bought anything in there.
  24. The same happens at the Avalon pet shop & Warriewood. I don't think they rent them though, you can just put your name down to care for a pup for the night.
