  1. No more anything in Australia's big land of we know what's best. Only appropriate activities condoned by the appropriate authorities with the appropriate measures. Beam me up Scotty!
  2. Yes Who knows what the owner tried to do before she arrived at the vet or how many avenues ended up being a dead end, or could not help. At the end of the day, you do your best and what you can at the time. And sometimes pts is the outcome. There is nothing to say the owner is deserved of a disgusting or thumbs down judgement. All deaths are sad. But how a dog passes matters, and this dog was given care until its end and did not suffer or go through a drawn out process.
  3. I think it is easy to give the thumbs down from the outside looking in.
  4. Maybe they are seeing the dog in terms of its suitability to be rehomed. GAP were full. I imagine it takes a skilled program to adapt greys from the track to the home.
  5. Which was someone else's beforehand. And now the dog is owned by a new home. When it come to rights we can go the converse and say what gives you the right to tell a puppy owner to take a course of action that will affect the final outcome of their dog. BUT the pros and cons of both sides have been repeated many times over, and in actuality one side can't claim 'right' over the other, afterall at the end of the day it is mere breeder preference of what they think is best for the puppies they breed. However, there is no need to bring personal preference (the above) and back it up by untruths: IE: That a accidental or cross bred litter impacts the lineage of a prefix I really think dog ownership in Australia is a lot more complex than you purport and I would not be relying on the insulation of pedigreed anything in Australia's oppressive legislative environment. regarding affecting the breed as a whole ... it might just be that desexing all the pedigree puppies effects the long term outcome of the breed as a whole. From morphology to differences in cause of death etc Let's not talk about buzz words :D Desexing is what it is, and therefore desexing reduces and increases adverse health conditions. And as for the other dramatics of entire males looting the neighbourhood and destroying fences ... seriously?
  6. Hmm the problem is that with time and by weight of numbers their dogs will become the norm and reduce the median for BC's. The divide maintains the difference for now, but it is a stalemate that has no solution other than the eventual change of the BC guard. Which will result in a change of BC ethos, as new owners with their different perspective of ideal BC and colour, replace the establishment. Regarding price, I would ask, what are they new breeders doing right or different that makes puppy buyers happy to pay that much more for their dogs. Maybe established breeders can incorporate some colours or try and improve the physical type of coloured BC's? or maybe introducing colours is heresy I don't know :) What is the difference between Choc/white and Choc tricolour?
  7. MV, is there a clear divide between the establishment and the new colour breeders? I dont know, maybe a lowering of the drawbridge or something and letting one or few in may work ... there may be more opportunity to guide by example - wrt a dog of better conformation and temperament - if the other breeders actually have an example of this. It is hard for a relatively new breeder to see an ideal or accept it if none of their own dogs are anywhere near. If they saw in a dog of their own keeping, conformation and temperament attributes, that were closer to the breed ideal, then it may give them the bar lift they need to SEE and then breed better dogs. You cannot learn by books and being spoken to, some things I believe you have to see and know for yourself to appreciate properly its entire context. I think you have more influence as a breeder, and can share your ideas about what is the breed ideal, if there is a common base from which to learn and compare experiences from.
  8. How will breeding from a Limited Reg dog effect the legacy of a prefix Or introduce defects to the pedigree Main Reg gene pool? Limited Reg are pups that go to homes who do not intend to show or breed. Limited Reg does not nec. mean that puppy is not of show / breed potential. Re the bolded text above: you may want to consider why most of the world dont follow this desex fervor.
  9. Do your own thing and import the dog you want, without any of the control attempts that Australian breeders want you to accept. When I was looking for my first dog, having to desex the dog was not a requirement. Personally I would not accept or tolerate being told what is best for my dog ... and I am not going to be a hypocrite and demand from other people what I do not demand or agree with for myself. Even with my own puppy buyers, no matter what the topic or what I urge them to do, I always say: at the end of the day it is your dog and you must decide what is best. I have a desex rebate, but if I did not think the home had a brain and were worthy of the pup ... they would not be one of my puppy homes to begin with.
  10. I'm not going to bag the breeder greyseas because bascially if you are happy with the level of support the breeder is giving then I am going to credit you with being able to discern if you feel you have been 'dodged' or not. Im sure if there was something wrong with the puppy, the test would have revealed any internal defect. Do not underestimate what diet and parasites can do to a puppy. I have photos of 6 - 8 week old and 12 week old Turk puppies that look like animal welfare outrage photos. A few weeks of diet, and worming ... wow different puppies. Your puppy (to me) looks like it needs to be wormed, and on a better diet and some calcium. I know giving calcium is a big no no to some but not for me. Now I dont breed Golden Retrievers but generally poor coat, lax muscle development and potty bellies tend to be the same across the dog breeds. I'd also check your puppy's water supply, and dump the supershiite for some good nutrition ;) sardines in vegetable oil, full cream milk (another big no no, but a big yes yes for me), chopped up lamb necks, chicken necks - yummo! I think your puppy will be fine :)
  11. oh marvelous! really. :) The bolded bit was my fave :D
  12. The original quote was door to airport, with crate size 122 x 81 x 89, but did not include Australian import permit, veterinary test ie RNATT or AQIS 30 day quarantine. Actually yesteday I realised their first quote was to Sydney and for the wrong size crate. So I told the company the corrections ... The new quote from Poland to Melbourne with crate size 140 x 85 x 90 arrived this morning: $8140AUD I will see what Australia's domestic companies can offer....
  13. It took 10 months to get the dog from Belorus to Poland, so I am reluctant to move him any more than necessary ... also I don't knwo how he would go with a crate change ... there are handler issues I have to consider also. Thank you all the same for your suggestion and consideration :)
  14. Yep. I'm really tired of owners who equate aggressor with the dog that was more physically equipped to do the most damage. Taking on an aggressive pose is a means of communication to another dog. It says yes I'm good too and will push back if you push me. Now whether your dog will actually push back when push comes to shove, is specific to the unique interaction between your dog and another dog. Dogs with 'no push' in them, do not take on aggressive poses. It's either in a dog's psyche or it is not.
  15. Probably lol btw you're obviously not having a good holiday since your back on Dol so you'll have time to pick me up some chocolates ... as long as their yum and will go well with a cup of tea I'm happy
  16. We had a good weekend with 3 x DCC and 2 Intermediate in Group wins. The floor was really slippery to the point of being dangerous, especially the General Specials ring. Impossible to move a big dog properly, our Standard poodle kept slipping, can't put running shoes on the dogs! I know we are very lucky to have access to such a good indoor venue, hopefully something can be done to make the floor safer. Heard there were a few injuries to handlers from falls, broken tooth and an ankle, anyone know how these people are?
  17. Thanks BB, this is great less and less stuff to bring :)
  18. I just don't think shows will ever be a priority. Actually I was not going to make it to the show this weekend ... but with a weather forecast of -25 to -32 I'm in Melb for another week or two yet, and making it to Bendigo :D
  19. thank you :) My pleasure. Nice folk to do business with and they have the BEST prices on Chris Christensen products. :) I LOVE the Chris Chris. T brush. Except so far my dogs have eaten two. I guess they like Chris Chris. products also :D
  20. I don't know I assumed it would be outside ... I will check ... It is in the Exhibition Centre. Is the Bendigo E.C. like KCC indoors? What will I need to bring: mat, chairs ... anything else?
  21. What is tensing stock? or do you mean tenting stock? I have no idea, so it could go either way! :D
  22. Or, if there are no show vendors around tomorrow morning maybe someone has a show brolly and stand for sale? :)
  23. Is Peperone a place? Yes I am going to be at Bendigo with Shahrazad for the Friday 5pm show and Calaf on the Saturday afternoon show. but I need a brolly and show stuff ... as it has been a long time :) Do you know where I can buy a brolly and stand tomorrow morning? :) (I was going to drive to Glenroy, but now maybe I'll have to drive to Peperone???)
