  1. Thanks EISHUND No thank goodness... Its funny the things you think about in the middle of a dark and stormy night, waiting for your maiden bitch to whelp. isnt it ??? That was exactly what I was wondering about, were there possibly 1 or 2 'hiding' Im still only about 1/2 hooman at the moment, so pics will come in a day or two ...
  2. Babies arrived last night ... We have 4 puppies, 2 boys 2 girls, all blue and all with some sort of face markings. One of the girls also has a black tail butt, this is the first we have ever had ... Both Mum and babies are doing very well ...
  3. Still waiting ... Just to add, that she is 63 days today, at least from the only mating we saw, but at this rate she will probably have them after the 14th anyway ;) ...

  9. Ive heard that as well, but I have also heard about 10 days prior, so Im a little confused about the right time... Guess its time to ring up the Vets in the am ...
  10. Just wondering what is the best time to xray bitches before whelping ???
  11. If you can get passed the 'Attack Basenji's', then you are more than welcome to it *Walks away from the computer sniggering* You are more than welcome to come up and kiss the mat if you wish ;) :D ...
  12. Completely OT, I know, but I have seen a Mini Schnauzer with the prefix Beauideal, albeit an American prefix and I thought there was a ?Sheltie? prefix the same in Aus ??? How did that happen ???
  13. Ooops I should also say, congrats to all the other winners ...
  14. What tests were you looking for rajacadoo? Notice they have ACD's listed with 4 coat colour & 2 genetic disease tests avail. http://www.vetdnacenter.com/search-breed-result.php?breed=10 Seems they don't offer all tests on each breed, guess due to patent restrictions. Very much a pity as had to go elsewhere for one of ours and suffer the exorbitant (in comparison) cost. Sent off three weeks ago, still waiting for results... I was looking for PRA, as its the only DNA test we can do for the ACD's... I dont know anyone who does DNA testing on the coat colours that they offer the ACD's, not to say it might not happen, just I havent heard of it
  15. What a shame there is nothing from DDC Veterinary that is applicable to ACD's, and its a bit off putting to read that they have the Australian Labradoodle listed as a purebred dog ...
  16. Yep we have this problem every time we show, absolutely without fail ... We have ACD's and Basenji's, and yes while they are breeds at the beginning of the group, in doesnt matter whether Gp 5 is first on and Gp 4 is last on we WILL/DO clash all the time ... I knew it would happen, but didnt think it would be as bad as it is ??? Sometimes it is the breeds clashing, othertimes its the Group Specials... It used to be good just having the one breed, (ACD's) so much less stress, know when you are on, be ringside, in, round, and out... Now I find myself constantly checking between the rings, making sure we wont miss our call etc, etc. I find Im not as social with friends, cos I always seem to need to be prepping dogs for the other group, when I would normally be being a social butterfly I would definately try to find something in Group 3 if you can all agree it something ...
  17. I too have had issues with Pet Plan... I tried to register a litter of pups last year, and had a 'delightfully rude' person at the end of the line, as I was having trouble registering. Long story short, we had email 'words', and I put in a formal complaint, which to my knowledge was never addressed, as I never got an update, despite asking for one ... Funny thing is, just last week I received an email from then, asking me to join their wonderful company ... Yeah right
  18. I think shes up to 4 boys and 1 girl, possibly 1 more to come... All is fine with Mum and pups
  19. Good luck Chocolate, sending good whelping vibes ... Shes doing you a HUGE favour whelping in daylight hours ... How did you manage to score that !!! Looking forward to seeing what she has, a really nice combination...
  20. No compulsory testing for anything on either Basenji's or ACD's... In saying that, most, (at least those that have access to it...), will Baer test, hip/elbow score, and DNA PRA test the Acd's. In the Basenji's, some are DNA testing for Fanconi syndrome, only a few are hip/elbow scoring, some are eye testing, very few thyroid testing...
  21. Gretel the problem that we have experienced is related to Virgin bringing down smaller planes into Tas, at the moment. It was more cost effective, when there are not enough 'bums on seats', so to speak, to get the smaller planes. The smaller plane they are using also has a lot less freight room, and for some reason there was a lot of freight going out of Tas, so the dogs were not a priority. Added to this was for some reason, a few extra dogs going out as well, hence a backlog needing to be sorted. Its taken me just on a fortnight to get my dog booked on a flight, (I have to say that both parties are shift workers, so that may have contributed to the dates getting pushed a bit further along)... I would suggest you book the pup on asap ;) ...
  22. Fully agree about Wayrod ;) ... Have recently had dealings with him, getting a dog up to NSW, and hes been great, especially with the problems we are currently having getting dogs out of Tassie ... Just about to annoy him for another quote ...
  23. Two people voted for comets so you aren't alone! I can't make up my mind about if I like them or not, but we won't be going with them for our shows, they don't seem very popular. I voted for Comets too, I thing they look a bit different ...
  24. Yay Chocolate, thats great news ... Looking forward to seeing them... Great news for you too jackofhearts ...
