We need pics after all the advice Muffinmclay

I would not have thought that the primary motivation for breeders using him would be to produce pets????? Overuse of a stud dog does produce a bottleneck in the next generation - where do you go if you want to avoid close matings if everyone has used the same sire??? Regardless of how "clean" the lines are decreased fertility and autoimmune probs are spinoffs of a narrow gene pool and high inbreeding coefficients. JMO

Just remember that if he is a snappy little shit then you could have trouble getting him into or out of a crate if he doesn't want to co-operate. My mother (sounds a bit like yours) had one like this and if it got under a bed or chair - there was nothing you could do if you wanted to keep all your fingers.

Don't do it - 7 weeks will seem like an eternity - tell your mother the dog will have to be boarded.

Muffinmclay, If your dogs coat is at the point where you are contemplating a dematting rake - shave it off and start again. Numerous people (with grooming backgrounds and plenty of experience with poodle coats) have suggested that you invest in a "good" slicker and a metal comb. Good slickers Les Pooch doggyman gripsoft Lawrence Gripsoft are probably the most readily available from good pet stores and vets etc. The others are all easily found on the internet.

Thank you so much for the update - I have wondered how this poor man was doing.
-
What everyone else said - if money is no object you could try a Les Pooch slicker and a good comb. If you are looking for a plush finish as opposed to curly you need to use a proffessional dog dryer and brush as the dog dries.

I listened to a podcast the other day (USA) that did a really good summary of reserarch to date - highlighted that the best indicator of potential to bloat was having a first degree relative. from memory you need to navigate to the podcast about GDV Will find the link if I still have it.http://www.akc-akcchf.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=504174

Agree - that sounds like a huge mini. I would have thougt around the 7-8kg for a big mini. My 15 month old girl (12.5 inches) is 6.7 and I certainly would not want her to get any heavier.

Poll: Have You Ever Used The Report Button
frufru replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have never used it - but upon reflection and the discussion started by Brooke - I think it should be used more often by all of us. I have actually been thinking for some time that this forum has come to be very restrictive - if you don't post by the party line you go up in flames very quickly - and I am not talking about anything that has happened to me personally but what I have read on threads. The forum has become very predictable, boring and often nasty. -
What caused the attack - who knows - but it is an horrific attack and the dog should be pts regardless.

Agree, I would take the crate just in case. Some rescues bounce out and go" Hello people" others are more worried and need time to settle in. Good luck

Uk Judge Banned For 12 Months For Misconduct
frufru replied to ellz's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ummm, the first post says that he is the co-handler! -
Thanks, I was thinking you meant something that needed adjustment by a chiro. Hopefully any vet would check the eye very thoroughly if a dog presented with staining under the eyes. I had a foster with very severe staining and the vet reckoned there was nothing wrong with the eyes - ears and teeth were fine. It does often go hand in hand with allergies.

Interesting topic, when you say a head or neck related issue, can you give examples.

Just wondering what the requirements are about containing a dog - anyone got any links???

21.5 would be quite small even for a bitch. I have a soft spot for the smallies but they are often penalised in the ring - despite what the breed standard says so you don't see many petite standards.
-
Wow, 21/2 years. Our girl lived about 4 months and the prednisone definitely improved the quality of these months.

Sincere condolencses to James and his family - grandparents are special people and it is very sad to loose a loved one in such a tragic way.
