:D Puppies and dogs are never suitable as surprise gifts. Im not sure that a puppy as a surprise gift is always a bad idea i know a lot of people on here that would appreciate a gift like that. I Did. If you do decide to get them a dog please get it from a good breeder, the last thing you want to get them is a dog that has problems that could be avoided.

Is She Pure Or What Does She Have In Her?
irl replied to Sunnyflower's topic in General Dog Discussion
Bullmastiff x boxer is pretty common too. I too would just say mastiff cross. -
I would say put a nice polite letter in their letter box too. I would say something like im not sure if you are aware that your dogs are barking a lot when you arent home, I dont want to cause any trouble with the council for you as I know if you arent home to hear the dogs you wouldnt know they are barking. Just try to keep it as friendly as possible. and goodluck with the barkers.

Did You Buy Your Puppy From A Less Than Reputable "breeder"?
irl replied to PoppyDog's topic in General Dog Discussion
For me some of the warning signs about dodgy breeders would be: Cant spell the name of the breed they are breeding. They advertise RARE color or breed. They dont know the proper color names. They arent registered breeders because someone tried to sue them. The list goes on. but pretty muchly if they are trying to push a puppy on you and dont care if you know about the breed you are purchasing, I would say run a mile. -
Council Ranger Threatens To Fine Rescuer Of Lost Dogs
irl replied to SarasMum's topic in In The News
I live at wagga and have found a wandering beagle and took it to the vets . They were really nice about it and told me they would check for a microchip and advise the rangers that they had it. It turned out it was a customers dog and was reunited with its family pretty quickly. They told me that if it wasnt chipped they hold onto it and get the ranger to pick it up in the afternoon and they let the other vet practises know incase anyone rings looking for their dog. -
So sorry dogmad the humor related to the media naming and blaming breeds (be they Mastiffs, Chihuahuas or whatever). I walk my Staffords and have to be constantly on guard for them being attacked by unleashed dogs - don't assume for a second that it is solely a problem faced by owners of "small" breeds. If my dog is attacked it may have a better chance of surviving but goD save us if surviving is the criteria we are using to decide if an attack is serious or not. Its definately not just a small dog problem, I have to walk my dogs Echo (boxer) and Merlin (great dane) seperately because of offlead and sometimes onlead dogs rushing us. Just about everyone that i see walking dogs around my area has a stick of some sort to try to protect their dog. Most of the time its small breeds that come rushing at Merlin and the owners think its amusing that their little tiny dog is attacking and trying to take on a great dane.

Maybe she would like to swap houses, that way she can see what its like to have dogs barking constantly for 2 plus hours. If one stops its because the other started and it goes on until the owners come home. Maybe it isnt your dog that she is hearing and if she is so certain because she is outside checking tell her if she wasnt trying to catch the dog barking it may not bark at her.

what about a crate? as far as I know you should be able to get ones that are portable.

home delivered pups , just like ordering a pizza.

Merlin plays with Tinkerbell, but he is watched really closely and pulled up pretty quickly if he looks like he is getting rough. Like settrlvr says, they need to be taught how to play with the little ones.

I think I read somewhere on here that they aren't pure if they don't have blue tongues.

I use dropshots. I like the idea of clicking on the icon down the bottom of the screen and the box pops up and then you just drag the pic over it and it sends it to your account.

I havent actually had to use it for a dog, but I had to get some the other day for a indian ringneck (bird) that wasnt too well. it comes in a bottle with a dropper. Seeing how well it worked on my bird and seeing my sisters cat that had been shot in the head, I would highly recomend having some at home just in case.

penny royal oil from a health food shop is also good.
