I never thought of that, will try that with Miss Lillie the Pink tonight I have put carpet mats around here and there, even with her advanced age she still acts like a Mexican Jumping bean, you would think now being partially blind she would stop trying to jum on the couch, I have stairs leading to the couch, lounges and bed - but no this old dear insists on jumping.

My Little Miss Lillie the Pink I suddenly noticed has lost her little plump arse and now has a shrivilled bot. The poor thing arrived skins and bones, and sans fur. She did plump up quidkly however her fur has never grone back. The specialistist said owing to long term starvation it more likely never would. the funny thins though is we think she is over 15 years - in the last 18 months, she has nearly lost all her sight , has become slightly deaf but has become more playfull. She never dare I say showed any emotion before. Now she want to play all the time, the only one of my furkids that like to play. I did notice that in the last month of winter last year, she became a bit stiff in the left hind leg so since then I have been feeding her Sasha Blend and hope this helps with the coming winter. I think it will be one very very cold winter here in Brisbane with all the moisture in the air I am sure there will be heavy frosts. I have knitted her leggings as her feet are always cold I also bought tiny bootees, she is going to be such a this winter but at least she will be warm.

it is wonderfl to see Dolers once again helping those in needs. Beside cash donations and other offers for our fur kids could a register be set up for other help Pardon spelling etc as I am running on nerves. Here is an example my house in Toowoomba was spared the flash flood but was hit by lighting and all the fixtuures extra exploded I cannot for the life of me find an electrian the couple down the road need a plumber. So if you are in any of the disaster areas why not post offers of a physical help if you were not affected. Sorry if I have posted in the wrong area .

Women Injured And Animals Killed In Overnight Fires (caboolture Qld)
LouiseBrooks replied to Boronia's topic in In The News
I was so scared of that as the dogs that stayed in the house at night were her "old ladies" that had retired, TBCSITW of course and the nursing mums and her babies. When it is allowed I will go in and see her she will be in such physical and mental pain. She loved all her fur kids with an equal passion. Thank you for all the help you are giving her guys DOL is so amazing. Sorry guys I was trying to link this with another reply about MAGNUS and her older cavs I am so distraught as I have not had contact with jed for the past few weeks and it was not till a DOLer contacted me I ralised about the housefire and where it was and that she was involved. What about her rescue parrots that were in a cage outside near the lounge? Did they make it? Jed lookedafter all her creatures with such a love and passion each one was special in her eyes. May she recover quickly and with all her friend here at DOL her long healing journey will be supported by you all. Thank you all so much. Does any one know the cause of the fire? -
Pet Dogs To Be Put Down After Killing
LouiseBrooks replied to Abigail's topic in General Dog Discussion
so true Jed I agree 100% the fences were right for that dogs owners. I hate to say it but unfortunately there is no option for these dogs except the green dream. All because the owner did not see the signs of dog agression. -
I am in love she is beautiful.

Yes I still have it at home - He checked with an Canine Allergy Specialist and when he was between 8 - 10 kgs he was allowed a 2mg tablet 4 times a day Say 6am 12 noon 6pm and when you go to bed he said it was better than giving say 2 large dosages. My daughters Tibbie gets because he is 12kgs weight 1.5 tables 4 times a day and also for his eyes I wash them with cold strong tea. One green and normal tea bag placed in a large cup of water when cool use cotton balls and wipe his eyes at least morning and night - my dog is white but it does not stain so have no fear of racoon eyes. the specialist said it would help because of some chemical in the tea. Then a TV programme mentioned if your dog has the itches to also wash him in cold tea and some of the chemicals in the tea shrink the blood vessels under the skin that swell with allergies and this cuts down the itches. We use all of the above and it does work.

I wonder how long her other dogs survived. I do not eat meat but there is no way I would make my dogs go vego. I agree a rabbit is the way to go.

As Godzilla has this problem all year round I contacted dogs in motion in Sydney and got him a pair of boots for his front paws and this works very well. If the back ones become itchy before I walk him in the morning I rubb the Malaseb into his paws and walk him when we come back I was it off. We have a problem as we always seem to have dew on the grass and it is wet grass that causes the problem.

Thanks for that Tilly this I will make up tonight. Arby that was the colour of his wax and I was thinking he does not get cereal. but yes he does in those dog treats so I have cut them out as well. Thank you so much for all this great advice.

Praised be the DAP. I had tried everything with Godzilla for lots of problems then some one of this forum mentioned DAP my vet obtained it for me and the change was amazing. HINT> Just buy the refills and also the Mortein insect plug ins from the supermarket, works wonderfully for the DAP and for the feliway if you have cats.

That's exactly what I use at work to clean ears. Great stuff and also fab if there is any yeast present too. I pre make a bottle each fortnight and off we go. I've had so may clients dogs cease to have ear infections/problems since using this as a regular cleaner a few years back. Is that 1 part malaseb to 50% water? then I put the drops in and massage the ears? Then leave it in? Lately Godzilla seems to be getting a lot of ear infections, this may help.

Yes my dogs get hairballs and they bring up matted stuff and also pass it as well. First check with the vet that is all it is. I use good old fashioned parrifin oil that I buy from the chemist, this is the "secret" ingredient in the hairball cat food. I mix it in their food once a month and it covers the hair and expels. Wonderful for constipation also as it softens the stool. My 7kg dog gets a cap ful.

Vet Just Told Me What I Am Feeding Is All Wrong
LouiseBrooks replied to Veanna's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Godzilla has hot spots the size of 50cent coins, was allergic to everything including the air he breathed. I put him on Barf and 3 months later not one hot spot 3 YEARS LATER still the same, he still has allergies but now mild and controlable even my vet was impressed. Ian Billinghurst is a vet bTW as well. I remember a lady in the USA used the deragoraty wording for BARF but now for the last 2 years is a convert. If Loki is doing well by fix something that is not broke, seeing he does not know about Barf how can he voice and opinion. Mind you I suppose he is losing commission on selling premium dog food. -
I would remove the cauliflower that causes gas also is she gulping her food down that can mean she is swallowing air. Sorry no futher help as when I changed my dogs over there was not problem, maybe I have no sense of smell.

My rescue pup did this as well, as if he did not walk properly he was dragged by his neck. I found rather than using a leash round his neck I bought a shoulder harness put it on left it on for days. Started clipping the leash while we walked around the yard. He now loves walks but goes back to gringe mode if a lead is clipped on his collar. Maybe some rescue remedy as well would be useful.

Dont forget that dogs can absorb through their paws. Have they walked anywhere where the sewerage overflowed. E-coli that is weird Romanysky's dogs have the same problem and they are in Brisbane. Hope they recover quickly.

Help... I Think My Dog Had Some Kitty Litter!
LouiseBrooks replied to jayakita's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
My dog did that. The Silica gel absorbs liquid and does not dissolve. I force fed him milk mixed with mince and a teaspoon of paraffin oil as that coated his stomach. The vet was not sure what to do, this was what we worked out. The milk would absorb, the mince to grab and the oil to coat. No side effects thank Dog but he had quite a lot. I thew the whole bag out. -
Godzilla had it done when he was 5 as he was alway ripping one or the other out and they would be getting infected. Vet said it was better to remove them. I took him in the morning he came wearing these groovy red socks in the afternoon, He loved the red socks as he thought they made him look taller after 10 days I removed them and he was a good as gold. He had not problems whatsoever and never wore a Elizabethan collar. Biscuit the Yorkie has horrid back ones that start to catch on each other when he is walking so he may have to have them removed. soon as well.

I feed Barf, Kibble and Bones. The kibble is for the play balls when I am working and not much either. Barf at night 1/8 each for Lillie and Biscuit and a 1/3 for Godzy the cat gets half of one. Bones on a Friday night so I can relax and watch TV and Sunday is fast day for all concerned. Oh in the morning a chick wing or neck for all the dogs and cats.

I was not going to post as I will not be fostering as much. Val - I also do Golden Oldies Rescue, these I usually get from my vet who is as soft as I am. They are all vet checked by himself and are usually ex-patients of his, so are up to date with shots and if not desexed he will do so. I also get a few from the army famalies who live around here. So far every one of them has been desexed and up to date with shots. They usually do not get onto the sites as my vet also referrers people to me if they are looking for an addition to their family. I do the house checks myself and if I feel uncomfortable in any way I won't rehome to that family. I only ask for what I have reimbursed and if it is a pensioner I usually forget to. The only person I foster to ocassionally is Varicool and this has been very rarely as she has a great foster base. Even less so now that I have acquired two cats. I am only set up for small dogs (adults). Mind you I will always find room for a Tibbie.
