Idriver, I am not a puppy person so may I suggest that you look at the breeders site on this forum and many times there are mature dogs available for pet homes usually about 2-3 years old they usually have been trained for shows and have wonderful tempermant. Usualy they are Tibbies who do not like showing or and not up to the standard the breeder is looking for, In fact there is one looking for a home at present from a wonderful breeder. Pardon the spelling mistakes I am at the Library sans glasses.

Queensland Rescues - Urgent
LouiseBrooks replied to Raelene's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
AWL is a great one for matters like this. Paws crossed for the golden oldie. -
Wonderful as it should be. Georgia will be ok. My two Biscuit and Ming are used to having a rescue come in as one of the family and then depart. You can see Biscuit thinking "they come and then they go" We are still here so all is ok. I am so glad you are getting updates that is so wonderful.

[i'm sure we will have more updates when Bonnie moves on :D :D Everytime I think of saying goodbye to her, I feel the tears start to well up. Ah this reminds me of one foster I had "Winston" he was a little Westie X Malt so tiny about 3 kilos. There was not much interest in him till a Doler gave him a Westie Trim. He was such a sweetie and it was hard for me to give him away to a perfect home I may add. When he left he was looking out of the back window with his little paw pressed against the glass and I lost it   for days I was crying. Two weeks later he came back for a visit I was so sure he would rush into my arms. What did the little bligher do came in had a drink of water hopped onto his owners lap sat there. I went to pat him his tail wagged but no way was he leaving her lap and off he trotted happily went it was time to leave. Ungrateful little pup.

Throw in on of your real dirty Tshirts in there, she will then feel much calmer. All my dogs rescue all, love being crated. In fact Gidget my Tibbie would bark for me to close her crate door so she could chew her bone in peace. Have you thought of using Dap, do not buy the expensive plug in just the refill as the mosquito plug ins are the same as the dap dispenser but only about 10% of the cost of the DAp. It was a marvel not only keeping the fosters quite but calming my dogs as well. I am sure it also worked on me.

I was stunned when I read this article I presumed after years of faithful service they were retired to their handlers not Pts. Now I wonder about the army dogs. here is the article that got me wondering http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-10-28/retirement-program-for-military-working-dogs-at-amberley-airbase/5046626

Well I have 4 ex battery hens delivered to me for www.homesforchooks.org this compay rescues battery hens from being put down and fines home for them. I am now looking for hertige poultry including bantams that I can also have as these are my first love. any dolers around that can help me? I live near the Mort Estate. I was shocked when I got these poor hens as I thought I would have them for a few years, it seems their life spane is very short 3 - 4 years at the most poor things.

Is There A Cutoff Age For Owning A Dog?
LouiseBrooks replied to redangel's topic in General Dog Discussion
This is something I have been really thinking about recently. Having just moved to Toowoomba away from family and now realising that my puoppy I have had over 8 years and he was a rescue. Lately on petrescue there seems to be more and more dogs that are being put up for adoption as the owners are not able to care for them, or they are moving into a nursing home. It must be heart rending for them. I am not sure if I could handle the heart ache. Mind you talk about forward thinking I am now looking at all the nursing homes and retirement villages around here that let you have a small dog or two. Out of 10 here I have only so far found two and they have to be vetted. I hope they realise soon how it changes the atmosphere of a village/home when a few pets are around. In fact one here has gardens and also chooks that you can help look after. -
Small Dog Needed For Photoshoot This Saturday
LouiseBrooks replied to charlottereeves's topic in General Dog Discussion
Looking forward to seeing the photos. My dogs are miffed ( yorkshire terriers) that they missed on being doggy star as we have recently moved to Toowoomba. Ming the Merciless would have been perfect. -

Rehoming Golden Oldies
LouiseBrooks replied to horus's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
How is it going? Have you managed to find a home for the oldie? Me I could not live without my golden oldies there lay back she will be right attitude more than compensates for any medical issues they have (if any). I have to admit I did not think large dogs lived as long as the small ones but my dream is still to adopt a senior grey - just love them. I will never forget Sophie the senior I looked after till Rozzie took her in for her final days. She converted me to the greys. Hope you find a caring owner soon. -

So well deserved Linda and Anna, Missy on your site is tugging at my heart. Now lets hope we can win the car for you. Now if enough people vote for your rescue. -
Ah Ex-Poodlefan you still have "it". The ability to start a thread that creates passion and get members thinking. I have to say about time. One of my "hobbies" is to pick a breed and compare it to how it looked much earlier. It is amazing how different they can look, facial have become exaggerated, eyes change and the body build can change. I will not mention which breed I really notice from a straight carriage to a sloped carriage, how can that be better? Too much human interference can be a problem I was surprised to see one of my favourite breeds the Pom was originally the same size as a Husky and it was Queen Victoria who breed them down to the toy size. I just hope these new rules make the breed think about the health of the dog.

2 - 3 Year Old Lab Wanted
LouiseBrooks replied to jakeyjangels's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
O/T, but over the years I've seen some lovely dogs & cats turn up with RSPCA Noosa. If you friend is till looking some one at work is giving free to good home a 15month chocolate lab, they have children hoever her father has become very ill and needs to be a carer for him and it is being unfair on the dog. -
Do you wish to borrow my tent Mita. I dont think you golden beauties will like to rough it.

So sorry to hear of Cordelia's passing. She was a wondeful help mate to you when you were in rescue and you will never forget her. You loved her enough to let her go when she wanted to. rip little one.

For Miss Lillie who is in the hight teens I have used Sasha blend I also use the Fish Barf Patties and touch wood, not a hint of arthritis. For some dogs Sasha blend (or similar) can have a magical result for others zilch effect. Only trying can help, pity they do not sell sample pack for a few weeks as it is so expensive. Also prior to this one of my oldies did start to suffer so I went on Robert McDowell's site and got a arthritis blend which seemed to work wonders. If I remember the bottle cost $50 but as only 3 drops were used at a time it lasted a long time. The Cataract mix I have been using for over 2 years so it can be very cheap. Good luck with your quest.

I bought up one of my dogs in an apartment from puppy hood. I made sure every morning before I left for work he had a good walk and one when I came back. also I made him a "viewing platform" which he loved and would lie there while I was working and observe what was going on. Now I live in a house with a yard I still have a viewing platform in the front bedroom and the dogs love it. In fact if some one asks where I live and they are not sure I just say "the ones with the dogs in the windows" and they know straight away. its just takes training and making a game plan.

Miss Lillie the Pink is a senior dog and has always been very clean. Even when our yard was under water she was the only dog that actually tried to swim to higher ground for her abulutions. She is also at least 8 times older than the other furkids they just wizzed on the puppy pads that I had in fact laid out for her. In the last week this has changed, for example this morning she sat on my bed as usual waiting for her morning snack, when I came back she had wet the bed. Now this is so unlike her that I watched her all day and she made frequent stops to the loo, not even on the emergency pads but here and there. Can they change their habits so quickly or would this be a kidney infection, I am taking her the the vets tomorrow morning just in case. I was also wondering if it this could mean she has lost the last of her sightt, as yesterday afternoon she did go outside but had difficulty finding the pet door. Could this have caused her to become fearful of going outside. I may start taking her outside in the morning and before she goes to sleep at night. I know you can get belly bands for the boys is there a pantie for dogs. Mind you I cannot see the feisty littile biddy keeping it on. Any suggestions folks? Iam dreading this winter for her.
