The ones that have it from birth will be the ones that catch your eye at 6 and 8 weeks of age. That also depends if you have an eye for a dog or not.

My Pug bitch is doing the same thing...we thought it was cos she thinks she is hooman. Dont be worried it is normal, I feed my bitches what they will eat....would rather them eat than not....sometimes just giving them something different gets them eating again...mine dont get the 4 legs roll, but pregnant bitches think it is something special.

The puppies that had died of Hookworm were wormed with Drontal liquid.

I have while in Queensland heart wormed ALL my dogs monthly with Ivermec. Pregnant bitches included. All of my friends that used Ivermec for heart worm also continued to worm their pregnant ones with NO effect on the bitch or the pups. I have used this product (Ivermec Sheep and Goat) for over 15 years on the dogs with NO harm what so ever. Most of the monthly tablets/chews can be based on Ivermec. How sad to read the above sharonpuggywuggy Ok..didnt know you could Ivermec a pregnant bitch....thanks for that info....which means the whole tragedy was avoidable. Grrrrr.

Having recently lost puppies to hookworm, in Qld...because mother could not have her due Ivamec dose while pregnant....I would certainly worm a pregnant bitch right through depending where you live. If you look at any of the online vet products you will see there are a few worming tabs that are suitable for pregnant bitches and puppies. You can always Revolution a pregnant bitch. With all the rain most of us have had recently worms are quite prolific, for all livestock.

So I could just knit Dog Jumpers and enter them and then you would distribute them to the needy, yes? Done. ♥

Day Old Litter Male Not Seen To Be Suckling!
Shazzapug replied to LizT's topic in Breeders Community
Thanks, Cockerlover. He paddles and searches but just doesn't latch on? We've tried expressing and holding him close etc. Beef liver T....by that do you mean an infusion of beef liver ie. Tea?? He's never been cold, as mum keeps him close by, she's really got the 'nose slide' thing happening now. Also he 'swims' over to her and burrows into her, almost looks like he's nursing...but he isn't. We've fed him 3 times now. He looks better hydrated though I'll be topping him up throughout the night until he starts nursing properly. Liver T is boiling a peice of liver and feeding him the liquid....I am not sure if you add anything else. I am lucky as I have dairy goats so I have gods nectre on tap....if he was mine I would do exactly what Liz did with her baby via the link in her post. Good luck. -
Doesnt this part of whats on the Dogs Vic site cover us Rogue breeders..... "A person who is a member of an Applicable Organisation (including Dogs Victoria, Cat Authority of Victoria, Feline Control Council, Governing Council of the Cat Fancy and Waratah National Cat Alliance) that registers their puppies and/or kittens with that Organisation and has less than 10 fertile females of either species is not required to be registered as a breeding establishment with their Council. The reason for this is that these groups have been approved as Applicable Organisations due to their members being required to operate in accord with a Code of Ethics established by their Organisation. The Code of Ethics established by these organisations mandate responsible breeding and responsible pet ownership principles which are similar to the aims of the mandatory Code of Practice"

LOL Liz I got the same email and I bounced it back to them.....losers.

Do litters have a mixture of the coats or do you breed not to have the horse or bear coat? Are they good with other dogs, eg Pugs? Thanks
-
I am not sure..but if you rang to see how many of your breed were entered I dont see how that could be deemed unethical....per class yes...but not the total entered.
-
Sounds like it is only in Tas cos we dont have it in Vic.
-
In Tasmania when they get their numbers back they also get a break down of how many of each breed is in the group...is this another one of those things that could be National if we had a truly National ANKC?

How Many People Use Conditioners On Their Dog?
Shazzapug replied to giraffez's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I dont use conditioner on my Pugs...they get washed up to 3-4 times a month depending on how many shows I go to...I use Equine Show Shampoo in the 1 lt concentrate...excellent. -
Welcome Kingy to the world of Pugs... They are a bit thicker than some and do take being persistent and consistent with them. When he starts to bite try distracting him his toys and let him know its ok to bite them but not your hands. If he plays enough with you he will be happy to go to sleep on your lap while you watch tele. The only way I could save everyones toes here is to make sure everyone has good slippers. :D You could also give him a time out in a puppy pen when he wont listen to you. Because he is a Pug he will be double the trouble of "just a dog" You could also contact your breeder and they might have some tips for you too.

Still Shedding Heaps After Visit To Groomer :(

What breed is she?? -
My sheep just ignore the Pugs...the Pugs run up to them, the sheep just look at them. The goats try and head butt them, which only spurs the Pug on more lol. The Pugs cant get in with the cows, they are too big, as horses would be. I would be careful with horses as the Pugs do like to bark, it depends on the reaction of the animal...if your horses ignore them then the Pug will be bored and move on.

I have always felt that it is more do to with the Pug not reading the other dogs as well. I find that Pugs are very open to being attacked or told off by other dogs because they do not acknowledge the body language and behaviour of other dogs. Thank you so much for that insight PRS. I always thought it was because I have a rescue Pug that he was having so much trouble reading the behaviour of my Frenchies. I now realise it's because of the breed. This is something for others to be aware of when they are thinking of having Pugs with other breeds. It really depends on the breed Vampy...French bulldogs are a very dominant breed. I am fostering 2 Italian Greyhounds at the moment and they get on great with the Pugs.

Question no. 4 - where did the name "Pug" come from and what does it mean ??? The origin of the pug dog is mired in mystery. There seems to be a general consensus that pug dog ancestry dates back to China 400 BCE*. The Chinese bred short-nosed dogs to acquire a more human-like countenance. Chinese trade with Europe began during the Han Dynasty in 200 BCE, but the earliest record of a dog fitting the description of a pug being brought into Europe comes from Holland in the 1500s. The modern name of the dog most likely originated in England where the word ‘pug’ was often used as a term of endearment. 1. What is my relationship with the breed? (ie breeder, first time owner etc) I am an Exihibitor and Breeder and firstly a Pugged family...our passion is the Black Pug...raising their profile to be equal to a Fawn Pug in every way. They are the dominant color and yet the rarer of the 2 colors. There is no need to add what others have written except to say the Pug is an IN YOUR FACE breed. They think they are Rottys in a Pug costume...will scare the crap out of visitors with their barking and viscious faces....

What Advance is it? I feed my Pug puppies Advance Puppy Growth and that is after they have been raised on Advance Rehydrateable. So what type of Advance are you feeding Fletch?
-
It happens to all pups. :p

Me too...the Dremel pet model...bargain on Ebay...Ahhh I can do nails without having great piles of bloody-ed tissues....I love it. And the Pug babies like it so
-
I dont think upping his food could hurt too much....he is a good weight at the moment so a bit extra will not make him obese. LOL is he a Lab x Poodle....has a hair do. coot puppy.
-
I agree slip in supper before he goes to sleep....I even feed baby 8 week old Pugs 4 times a day so a Lab puppy would need the same. Sometimes supper can just be a scrambled egg with puppy milk.
