Places that buy dogs from pounds and rescues are merely Dog Traders to me....they pick up dogs that in their opinion are easy to sell.

I could be way off, but are you referring to the types that just breed & never step a foot into the show ring? Personally, I think it's still a handy tool being compared against your peers. :D I thought she was referring to judges who put up poor examples which continue to be bred from, so that's what people come to believe is acceptable. I take the statement as meaning...If all else fails ie the judge knows diddly about your breed, they will put up the face and on most occasions with knowledge of the breed still put up the face.

Totally agree with you on this point and will add they also disregard to the breeds detrement any health issues and so continue to breed and supply unhealthy pets and thus the breed as a whole is seen in a bad light

We too had labs....I dont remember how old our Penny was but my father would be most keen to help her through the winter without her being in any joint pain etc...all I remember is she was really old. When she passed we got a young lab bitch, I dont even remember if she was desexed but she used to go everywhere with me. When instead of housing estates it was still paddocks, we would walk for miles. Her name was Sally, and she was either dumped or just lost, she sat outside my grandfathers house for a few days like she was waiting for someone....so we, pinched her I'd say from the side of the road and I had her till she died in my arms of Distemper....I was mid teens. Our dogs then lived on dry food and house scaps..... my Pugs now live on a raw diet but love the added yummy of house scraps, but with 4 growing kids there isnt too much scraps. We hardly ever went to the vet and I hardly ever go now, except for pregnant Pug bitches.

If your in Werribee your already on the Daylesford side ☻ Head towards Bacchus Marsh, you know out the back road that turns onto "Bacchus Marsh Rd....go into the Marsh then turn left onto hwy then turn off at the Ballan exit go thru Ballan then go right back over the hwy follow this all the way to Daylesford, Victoria Park on the left. Go past Kyneton turn off at Malmsbury/Daylesford exit....thru Malmsbury at the top of hill turn left...Glenlyon/Daylesford....follow all the way to Daylesford....at the big roundabout turn left up the main street follow all the way over bridge and up hill....Victoria Park is on the right. big gates. Have a look at a map, depending where you are in Melb it may be quicker going on Ballarat hwy to Ballan and coming into Daylesford from other end. ☻

If it is cancelled though how would we know? Is there a section on the DogsVic site for cancelled shows...it would have to be announced Friday night. Daylesford is only 20mins from Kyneton.

Just a wee warning in our area which includes Daylesford there has been between 40-90 mms of rain "predicted" from now till Sunday.

If you could drive a car on the road without having to pay rego and insurances and pay for a drivers licence .... would you leave the car at home until you had paid for all of them? Why would I....the authorities are after the guys doin the right thing.

sadly I have to agree. but add for the almighty dollar as well yes there are people who are passionate about their breed. They are out there There are some of us that are still breeding for the betterment of the breed and we live by this statement......but the odds are stacking up against us cos it is becoming extinct cos too many are breeding for the money.
